In the first game, if the monster flies away to another area, you just get dropped, in this one however, it takes you along for a ride, Crazy...
@YourGamesElucidated
That's an improvement in my book.
I love how George is hanging on for dear life and the Beastren Lion Fighter is like ey it's a joy ride!
@@dantefromdevilmaycry9857 yeah, I was shouting" hang in there George you got this!" haha such awesome game
Yess new call society griffin taxy 😂
Before PS5
Yoooo the moment the Griffin took off flying was amazing and it flew over town this is going to be one of those amazing games yet again great job Capcom
cant wait for them to make monster hunter open world
That would just annoy me. Wasting time flying around during a fight, same as MHW when they would traverse to different areas during a hunt.
Why I always loved the arena fights.
@@phillipmorris6629the nitpick is real
@@phillipmorris6629 You should be able to knock it down if you do enough damage, though, assuming it's not a scripted scenario. In DD 1 there was the first real Griffon fight where you have to stare at it flying to a location you'd need to head towards later (but then people also discovered if you do crazy damage you can take it out before it can retreat.)
@@phillipmorris6629Then grab onto it before it starts flying
Look at the griffin throw the pawn off at 1:14. Nice to see the physics be more realistic
Lmao bro got yeeted
RAGDOLL!!!
Fucking died seeing that pawn get yeeted 😂😂
We need the Hollywood scream edited over it! 😂
Hearing the music shift at 2:00 when the Griffin falls just like old times fills me with joy.
I got a nostalgia hit when that happened. Can't wait to play this!!
that moment when you find yourself cornered, with no potions, low hp, your pawns also have low hp, but the creature falls and starts playing music so intense that it gives you adrenaline and hope to defeating it
This is Dragon's Dogma's Proof of a Hero
When the wind is not only pushing me, but pushing the enemies over.
yup....I was SOOOOOO GLAD they kept that battle music...it's freakin epic....
4:53 Guys there is a port cristal in the nest!!! Better remember that when you're playing the game you'll probably need it.
ngl i'm one of the 14 fans of the portcrystal system lmao so seeing them back actually got me pumped. being able to create a sort of "forward base" with the crystals was so dynamic and fun. and now with the introduction of camp sites, i can imagine getting that same feeling of exploring the unknown
@@bellatrix8247There are dozens of us!
@@bellatrix8247 Honestly I also kinda like the portcrystal system. When you can fast travel across the map at any moment just because you were there once, you lose the need to actually explore. But with portcrystals, you could've been at that location 50 times, still can't fast travel unless you place a portcrystal, and there's not enough to put one at every possible location you might need to revisit. So you still need to travel once in a while, possibly finding something cool along the way that you missed the first time.
I loved the concept of the port crystals, but I think it's only because I played Dark Arisen and had access to the Eternal Ferrystone. Wondering if I'll like it as much with limited fast travel again.
All the models look so good, I love that they kept the style
yep me too, cheers
i really love who they keep the old tyle
The aesthetic in this game is so good. Its a very unique high fantasy style. The monsters, the drip, the environment. Its just nice to look at
I've always thought it fits perfectly between high and dark fantasy. Or maybe that's just how creepy and terrifying some aspects are. Especially because it doesn't over do it how I feel Soulsborne games do. Like yes we get it the world is depressing, is it anything else. Games are still fun tho
It always reminded me of berserk, well even the devs agreed because the original Dragon's dogma (the wind is pushing me edition) had a colab with berserk, you could find Guts and Griffith's armors in game.
@@lucasphilip4822I really hope we get those back
I kinda agree, but I also wish it had more colour. Everything looks really washed out.
@@Werkvuur there will be reshade mods as soon as it comes out don't worry, and they're easy to install
2:43 "There is no cause for reckless action"
Quote man currently holding onto a griffin's beak 100 feet from the ground.
Finally. Someone that covers the game and understands the gameplay and it's recorded on something other than a potato
I know I want to see how the game play on a ps5 😊
Saw the IGN gameplay vid earlier and it was like whoever was playing it had never played video gamea before... and the vid was 2-3 times as long as this one.
I wasn't feeling so much the game from the other's gameplay videos but man it is a whole different thing when someone competent plays the game, this looks so good and fun.
If it's anything like the first, you get the true power fantasy experience, there's a bunch of skills that when paired with the right augments and weapons, turn you into a true monster killer, it's awesome.
The characters and creature animations are top notch, they flow so well in and out of combat. Was not expecting the Griffin to fly away to its nest like that with characters on its back, mindblowing stuff. Love the long fights of epic magnitudes like this, excited to try dozens of different builds like I did with DD1!
Its a shame this video doesn't have more views. It looks like Dragon's Dogma 2 is shaping up to be massively underrated yet again.
I'm ok with that. For the game I do want it to make money but if casuals don't see why this game is so loved I don't mind once again having this as a personal hidden gem
2.5 million copies in the first week baby!
Literally hopping from foot to foot in excitement for DDII.
Calm and collected George dropping griffin facts while fighting for his life 300 feet in the air... Dragons dogma is back.
Oh, my God. They made the physics better. Seeing Max get yeeted and helplessly flail off the griffon... comedy gold. I cannot wait
Max? Maximilian dood?
@Puangbro xD. That'd be hilarious, but no. At 1:12 the pawn that's hanging on for dear life. But now I'll imagine Maximilian screaming as he's yeeted.
@@Atypical_Chad Ooh, thx. I didn't read the pawn name 😂.
I hope they add more struggling animation when "riding" in mid air.
The roars and the staredowns 😭😭😭 it makes the fight so much more menacing, AND IT FLEW TO ITS NEST OMG 😭😭😭😭😭
I just heard about this game. Dude, that jumping on top of flying boss is always what I wanted to do with dragons in Skyrim. Never knew that this game already done that. Cool!
you should definitely play the first one before this one comes out. It's a little dated but if you can get past that, it's a great game.
You know this is a sequel right? Go buy the first one and you can do all of that now.
@@zowbaid89 i mean he can't griffins in dragon's dogma dark arisen kick you off once you get to a certain height i am pretty sure.
the first game is 80+% off on steam if you're interested
its $5 on steam if you're interested. If you found the fighter class boring, switch to other classes like the Strider. You'll open a lot of new classes as you play the game. Most of the enjoyment comes from experimenting the classes.
That look at the map was just gorgeous. I had no idea they had completed so much! I'm glad they've added more environmental features
The reason why being able to climb monsters in Dragon's Dogma is such a big deal is cause, unlike in other games where its usually a scripted event, its a completely natural part of the game where you the player have complete control over
Even better now that the sequel won't force your character to drop while on a monster that's flying
That over the city shot is so fucking cool.
Can you imagine seeing that as a random townsperson?
"You know. Maybe being a humble cobbler isn't all that bad."
My jaw dropped when that Griffin started flying with you on its back. I can only imagine your reaction as you were taking in the sights and not attacking it. I would've done exactly the same.
That was probably a bug though.
Don't think you're supposed to do that.
@@nikosxidoesn't seem like a bug. In the trailer, there are a lot of footage showing someone hanging from the Griffin's back. In DD1, you can hang on the Griffin while it is running away, but not to the point of following it to its nest (you'll fall off after a certain height). It looks like they improve upon the Griffin riding mechanic.
@@fukunaga-kane Not talking about hanging.
If you watch the video, you can see that he hanged up to a point. You could see his stamina bar steadily going down. And at some point, he just stood up essentially, like he was in solid ground. And he recovered his stamina. That's why I think it was either a bug or something scripted.
The pawn never stopped hanging.
@@nikosxiIt could be a new mechanic considering the size of some of these monsters. There hasn't been any way to recover stamina naturally whilst on top of a monster so being able to stand atop of it could solve it. Not to mention it could add stupidly cool moments like a caster summoning a high level on one.
(Edit): Actually, he's crouched on it the entire time lol. And his stamina still drains. That is definitely part of the fight. Look also to the left. He used an item.
@@JinJinJinJinJinJinJinJinJinJin You are right. I thought that when he got up his stamina just recovered. Didn't notice that it started dropping again.
Ok, I loved Dragon's Dogma but hadn't seen anything that sold me on Dragon's Dogma II... until now! A griffon nest!? wow.
At first I thought the game was messed up but the griffin flew to its nest! 😮
I cannot wait until this game comes out!
love how they kept the theme when a monster falls
5:16 Mage casually levitates while attacking. That's freaking cool
It was a staple animation sorcerers have when on "High" version of the Bollide.
@@Reason4Termination Yup but that was not High Bolide, If you look closely, mid flying, the mage started casting Fire Affinity to the player.
It's just me, or those monster look bigger now? The cyclops look the same, but the ogre and griffin looking bigger than before 😮
The griffin is the same size, it was as big as one of the minor dragons in the first game. I do think the ogre got bigger though, it looks almost as tall as the cyclops.
I was thinking the same for some odd reason it seems bigger
What if it's an elder ogre 😨
@@angramainyu9220 a elder ogre with only fell points of HP? I hope not hahah
I think the cyclops looks bigger as well
OMG!! This is what I love about Dragon's Dogma, so EPIC!!
The thing that excites me most about this is that Empale and Onsalught abilities seem to be able to be used both on the ground and while climbing. My biggest fault with DDDA's combat was that climbing wasn't a big enough feature unless you hyper specialized into it. The fact that fighter (who really wasn't that good at climbing) is able to use moves while climbing without 'sacrificing slots' is amazing news to me.
Onslaught and Impale just seem to be the Quick/Heavy attacks version of this game,
Enjoyed the first one loads. And now this is having a comeback. Nice
woooooooow, Griffin is so damn cool man. Dragon's Dogma make huge beast so majestic and full of splendor. Before playing DD, such creature like Griffin and Dragon lost its coolness for me. Like okay, its a giant eagle and flying lizard in the end, now drop the rare item.
But after playing DD1, the blue moon tower Griffin battle and Grigori battle, it absolutely changed my mind.
Not only attacking their feets probably the reason haha
@@mustofaakmal7493 true that, whats the point of 10 metres beast when all you do was hacking it feet and toenails, thats just pedicure with extra steps
This. Looks. Sick!
Look at how the grass moves when they flap their wings!!
Something I noticed is that the song for this fight is actually a remix of the original Griffon fight music from D1 and it’s so fucking cool!
I noticed at 3:03 that iconic chord progression in the fight
Standing on the head at the end (not grabbing on) and still doing the downward thrust (Empale) was a very cool addition. Skills reacting differently based on location is a fantastic addition.
Glad to see Griffins are easier to find. Ive beaten Dragon's Dogma at least 7-8 times & Ive probably only got around 30 or less Griffin kills. have the time they arent flying in their usual areas & when they are, you cat catch even if you give them bait to come down! at least that was my experience
What a madman, even though i finished the game 15-25 time i still killed a lot less than you
@yuuOhio i played a lot of magic hybrid classes so I had an easier time setting the wings on fire to keep em down on the ground. Magick Archer's Explosive Rivet skill works wonders for this
@@TheGift137 still, What a madman
when the second one showed up and i think the music changed again? and they started acting differently was definitely the highlight for me. holy shit i need this so bad. cant believe we're finally getting DD2.
MVP of that Griffin battle definitely is George! He has one hell of arms strength and stamina to keep holding on the Griffin at a precarious position like 3000 feet in the sky lol
I cannot believe how good these damn graphics look to me!! I would also be the type to just take a sec to look around while flying on the giant beast. Those vistas!!
Damn I hope this runs well on launch 🤞🏾🤞🏾
finally! someone who actually KNOWS how to play the game! great stuff, as usual
i've said it before, and i'll say it again: the Griffin looks *so. f@c**#1ng** GOOD!*
hopefully the Cockatrice and the Dragonkin will look this good, too.
also hopefully, we'll get the "variants" from Dragon's Dogma Online - the Black Griffin and the Bifrest, to name 2.
1:56 i see they gave the Griffin a roar. there's that, at least.
The level of interactivity in this game is going to be wild. You can destroy a dam and see the water rush through enemies as it turns into mud. Hack away at a troll's feet until he loses balance and falls into a gap creating a makeshift bridge you can cross. Or here, watching a griffin struggling to shake you off as you continue to attack it, even flying a far distance away as a last resort, which you can take advantage of for travel purposes.
GOD that Griffin looks SOOO freaking Good!
Bro hearing "Imminent Triumph" made tear up due to nostalgia, I can't wait!
It might just be me, but did they make the Griffin bigger?
Thought the same it's bigger and beefy
@@MrSloppy1993im all for big monsters, the springboard/launch skills will gain some needed viability
Absolutely looks bigger. All the monsters look much, much bigger. Like the ogre and cyclops, they look like they're twice the size.
There was a saurian in one clip I saw and it was bigger than the player. Think they made every monster larger.
Looks like it
For a few seconds at 1:01, I thought the griffin’s name was Max, then I see Max get flung across the field lmaoo
holy shit!
I never expected you'd be able to ride it for so long! that looked incredible through and through. I'm glad you didn't just ignore the gryphon like 80% of the demo gameplay that has been uploaded so far lmao.
They brought back the tide of battle turning theme during bosses!
Dragon's is my favorite game of all time and I'm DEFINITELY preordering but one or two "issues" I have with this is that while the griffin is flying you over towns and mountain ranges at what I would assume are high speeds it doesn't look like your character is "clinging" trying not to fall but instead just casually squatting on it's back like it's giving you a ride. The only other thing (this is moreso just an immersion issue for me) is that when I saw the griffin fly so far and it was just you and one other pawn hanging on to it, I thought "oh this is going to be crazy, their going to have to fight as a duo since the other pawns got left behind" but then when you landed in the nest the other pawns just spawned on top of you.
Fare criticism 👍
Yeah, I bet they polish that up in the final game. It looks bad. I'd be shocked if they left it like that.
Stamina was being consumed as the Griffin was flying
One thing I noticed was that you could stand on the monsters without the need to cling, it looks like as long as he was stable on it's back, he could stop clinging to reserve stamina, in the fight continuing in the nest, you see the arisen and a pawn basically standing on the griffins head and neck with striking down with blows which looks like it would feel really good compared to the old style of standing to the side or clinging on a downed enemy. As for the pawns spawning I would agree, that is a fair criticism, but I can also see the side of summoning them to keep the difficulty balanced for the players sake, some might not appreciate being left alone imagine if it was just the PC who held on and got to the nest, if you aren't prepared with prior knowledge or just really good that could be an easy death for most players and would be a terrible experience ruining an epic one
The griffin surf might be a bug, but standing upright and walking on large enemies also seems to be an actual thing now, if you look at the showcase; the mystic spearhand character was standing on the back of a chimera to impale it with a spear. Also don't forget that wing walkers are a real thing, it's absolutely possible to stand or even walk on the back of a fast flying object (well, as fast as a 1930s era biplane at least), it just shouldn't look as effortless as it does here.
Anyone else see the port crystal in the nest I'm very happy about that mechanic returning
3:15 Dude was like "ok, what do i do now?"lol
is that... a new version of Imminent Triumph?! LETSGOOOO
The combat in the air... that's so bad-ars. They really nailed it, extending what the first game barely licked.
MY BODY IS READY
Looks like there is a portcrystal in the nest ô_ô
After playing Dark Arisen again, I really want a command that tells the pawns to pick up stuff on the ground. Sometimes they just walk around in front of items when I'm already on the verge of being over-encumbered but won't pick things up unless i reshuffle individual items into their inventory.
Holy shit....I thought my RPG cravings were satisfyingly sated with BG3...I hunger again 😈
George hanging on for his life lmao!
Climbing over the monster reminds me of shadow of the colossus, this looks great 👍
That scene as you look up at the griffin with the field of what blowing at your back from the force of the wings' torque, jumping on the Griffin's back watching it soar over the city and the hills, knowing it can crash down, even down to the city, at anytime and that's where the battle continues, even possibly having other creatures join in as your teammates scream for support, and you're watching all this chaos unfold before you like a scene out of a blockbuster fantasy film..
That's what Dragons Dogma was always meant to be. The awe and inspiration, the promise DD1 showed might finally be delivered upon. This game is going to transform the ARPG landscape in a measure equal or even greater than Dark Souls, Skyrim or Witcher 3 ever did.
Hell DD1 was an incomplete game and it's effects are STILL felt in newer games.
This is going to be one to be remembered. This game WILL change the standards for ARPGs.
Even in this unpolished Alpha state it looks so promising, some more destruction physics and cleaner animations, and a great story, and we have the ARPG of the decade.
I'm glad your excited for this game and hope it's better than you can imagine! However I
We've yet to witness anything revolutionary or genre defining. From the footage it seems to be mix or Witcher and monster hunter. Both of which did infact innovative on the original formula and create something totally unique. However I'm sure once the game comes out it'll have tons of things differentiating it from the usual western ARPG fanfair.
The remastered "Imminent Triumph" track literally brings a tear to my eye.
the griffin taking you on a wild ride was funny
I can tell it’s finishing touches, once movement is smoother 🔥
Looks like it flew back to its nest so thats why the second one swooped in probably the mate
4:52 did i just see a port crystal?
They need to keep this fast travel mechanic
Poor griffin flew all that way to have a 1v1. But the guy just teleports his companions back
2v2
Commentary is a must.
Omg that was amazing dude. Ty I’m so relieved after watching that.
Is it just me, or is that gryphon bigger than in DD1? And it doesn't seem to catch fire as easily either? It's incredible that they're showing the scale of the environment through this showcase. And that where you start fighting one of these things, will likely not be where you wind up.
They've clearly revamped the stamina system when mounting monsters. There's no way you could hold onto a monster that long without extensive use of food items/stamina potions in DD1.
And of course the second one shows up. lol
epic gameplay! Feels like an open world monster hunter. My excitement meter is at 100% One of my Top 10 games having a sequel is a dream come true.
Oh my?? It takes off with you on it's back? Haha Oh I love this!! What an adventure I'll put my loyal pawn through.

Imagine this climbing mechanic in monster hunter instead of the claw and wire bugs. So cool.
there was a similar mechanic in previous games, they removed it in MHRise. Still, you couldn't jump freely, so you had to be on a high platform and jump onto the monster... or if you had a friend, we would do a tandem move, where I'd use my charge blade's axe upper swing to send my brother flying into the air, then my bro would land on the monster and cling to it. It was fun, I'm still disappointed they removed that in MHR, especially the ability to launch my bro in the air.
@@TheDrsalvationYou can still launch your party members, but everyone uses flinch free (or shock absorber now) because getting flinched by longsword and ranged weapons all the time is annoying.
