People rly don’t realize how many anime’s have a character with inspiration from wukong, goku, 3rd hogake and his weapon, Luffy from one piece. So cool we can finally get a game that goes over wukong mythology
Something you might not know, is that Erlang and Wukong are good friends, and sworn brothers too. He threatened to level Wukong's mountain to make the celestial court happy, but in the end, he didn't actually do it. When Wukong threatened to pluck out Erlang's third eye, he actually means to store his memories in it to be retrieved by his descendents (the player character) Erlang was the first to rebel against heaven, even before Wukong. He was a demigod, born as Jade Emperor's sister made love to a mortal man. As a punishment, his mother was locked away, his father and sister killed. He holds a grudge against the celestial court even now, and respects Wukong for his rebellion greatly. While each of them is able to create a ruckus, they are unable to overthrow the old order.
People don't know how strong Sun Wukong really is. The guy fought Buddha. He tanks hits from literal gods. He is extremely feared and respected. The voice is very fitting in English. Wukong has always had that kind of voice and tone.
@@painvillegaming4119 Though he did survive the force of the entire Universe coming down on him when Buddha palmed him since the entire universe was in Buddha's palm. Even if you don't want to scale it that high he at least survived an entire mountain crashing down on him.

@@painvillegaming4119not even 7 times. Two of those are from him eating hundreds of immortality granting items. He’s probably thousands of times immortal.
SunWuKong was born in a rock located in the "Mountain of Flowers and Fruits" and was hailed the monkey king after winning a bet, and started enjoying himself. But later after one of his close friends died, he realized that he'll eventually die and not be able to be happy anymore. So he traveled far and learned powers from an immortal, and became extremely powerful (and obtained immortality). And then he searched for a suitable weapon for him. He found one in the East Water Dragon King's temple, and took it after winning another bet. The weapon weighted around 8000kg and can grow and shrink at will. The Water Dragon snitched on SunWuKong and the Jade Emperor tried various ways to pacify SunWuKong. But it failed and he attacked the Mountain of Flowers and Fruits. SunWuKong was captured by YangZian (The three eyed guy with the dog), and was put into a crucifix to be molten into an elixir. But SunWuKong survived and ended up destroying heaven and almost killed everyone. So Buddha was forced to come and trapped SunWuKong under a magical mountain, he was trapped there for 500 years before a monk came. The monk was the protagonist of "The Journey to the West" and was the person who went on this journey. SunWuKong tricked the monk into freeing him and became the monks apprentice. But the monkey was mischievous, and ran off after being unhappy with his new master. After he ran off, another immortal came and gifted the monk a magical golden headband, and gave instructions on how to use it. The monk tricked SunWuKong into putting on the headband, which caused immense pain when a certain magical poem was read. After that SunWuKong obeyed his master and protected him with two other apprentices, a humanoid pig and a blue-skinned-read-haired-humanoid. After they made the journey after 9 long years, SunWuKong was made a Buddha. But SunWuKong found the rules of being a Buddha cumbersome, so he returned to his birthplace to live in peace. And that is where the game begins. (Note: The Monk wasn't a bad guy for forcing SunWuKong to obey him, what I explained has highly oversimplified. Also, The last two sentences about SunWuKong returning to his mountain is made up, not originally in the story. Although it is highly believable.) Please liek this took me 30 minutes. Hot diddly-dog that's a lot of likes, most support I ever gotten.
dont forget that monkey king has gaind immortality......seven times.......he is not killible as why you dont take damage as you play wukong in the begining off the game
The Changing Pole weapon is actually a giant pillar that held the sea in place. My mans Wukong just took the pillar, causing the entire sea and undersea palace to go into disarray lmao
I doubt anyone will see this but homeboy in the beginning is "Erlang Shen" aka the other baddest mfer to walk the planet other than Wukong himself. He is the Jade Emperor's (Zeus equivalent in the Chinese pantheon) go-to headknocker. Bit more extra context, before Wukong's Journey to the West, that man legitimately wanted ALL the smoke from everybody and WON until the supreme Buddha (creator of the universe more or less) intervened and humbled him along with the Goddess of Mercy who put the famous circlet on him. In short, Wukong was HIM
Hell yea man! I was wondering if anybody else was aware of who that was supposed to be. I tried to look it up to back my assumption but couldn’t find anybody else talking about it (obviously because most people would be completely unaware). But now that I see you say this I know we are both right that is absolutely Elang Sheng (or Erlang Shen? Not sure how it’s spelled)
I know the general story of Sun Wukong from things such as fate, god of high school, and other things so I was so excited getting a game like this, playing as our great sage equal to heaven. Though it’s interesting that it’s after the journey. I love how cultural the game is, every enemy gets a poem and a folk tale, even the mobs get one, I love this game so far and the fact I’m learning more about the journey. Jinchi is a part of the original journey right?
Afro, it should be pointed out that the prologue featured the OG Sun Wukong. The reason you didn't receive damage is because he's basically invulnerable and immortal. I highly recommend listening to the "Journey to the West" audible, it really is a great listen and won't spoil the story as the events of Black Myth Wukong happen after the story (recall how Wukong reflected that the master was safe and the scriptures are secured).
Watching afro pass all the items, story points and bosses never gets old. My guy skipped an entire left side of the forest and went straight to the bobble head fight hilarious

So the guy fighting wukong in the beginning is who tien is inspire by in dragonball. He has similar power set to wukong and is one of the few people that can best wukong. The head piece that was giving wukong a headache in the cutscene is used by his master in journey to the west to control wukong darker tendencies. Anyone that can recite the mantra for it can give wukong a headache, immobilizing him. Just a little info dump for anyone that wants to read this

In the story (journey to the west) the staff is a pillar that can change in size and he is the only one strong enough to pick it up. He shrinks it and puts it behind his ear
other note, the staff was originally a measuring tool to measure the depths of the sea and height of the heavens. its just Sun Wukong saw it as a perfect weapons so he used it as such.
yes, the real name of Wukong's staff means something like "The Sacraed Needle for Pacifying Oceans" in addition, the stupid dog has a name, which should mean "Heaven Howling Canis/Dog" His clould mount's name is "Somersault Cloud". All of these has a story behind in the original Journey to the West novel.

G, I love the enthusiasm you have for Kratos but my dude Wukong in the myths gained like 7 layers of immortality, fought against all the gods in heaven and won against most if not all of them, was brought to the underworld and removed his name from the book of death. Bro wore black air forces before black air forces were even a thing. My dude wanted the smoke and made all of heavens into his cigarette pack.
Some background on Sun Wukong: He was a monkey who ate from the tree of immortality and obtained godly strength. For awhile he teamed with the other deities in their court and they effectively made Sun Wukong a secret weapon against various demonic threats. Sun Wukong shares Goku's lust for battle so when there wasn't a lot of demonic entities left he kinda just said "Fuck it" and decided to duke it out with the deities. I'm fairly certain that after this point he teams up with a Monk who helps Sun Wukong out and they travel to the West. Also pretty sure that along the way, Sun Wukong get's like.... eight different kinds of immortality so... yeah. Also, fun fact: Sun Wukong's pole is just a pillar from a Dragon's house that he shrank down into a staff. The Dragon wasn't very happy with him but... not like the Dragon could really do anything against Sun.
You forgot yo mention that pole had no real purpose other than to measure the high of the sea or a river. It was literally just a measuring stick in the dragon's eyes but Wukong saw the perfect weapon.
You did miss the part where Buddha imprisons him in a mountain for 1000 years for his shenanigans. The monk he “teams up with” is Sanzhang and he didn’t exactly team up with him. He was tasked to escort Sanzhang on a pilgrimage to the west beginning his “Journey to The West”. He was forced to wear a golden headband that Sanzhang can shrink with a chant causing him great pain in order to control him. The headband appears on his head at the end of the opening boss fight.
You missed the fact that he got sealed by buddha into a mountain after challenging the heavens. And he himself was the one that sent wukong and the monk in the journey
Someone explain please, Wukong got Sealed after tear apart Heaven right? After that he got released by the monk, and Buddha Task Him to Escort the Monk to the West And is after that he Back to the Mountain, and this Story (the game) begin? Is he Got Sealed again after lose to Erlang in the Opening? Or something similiar? And the MC of the Wukong Game is not Wukong himself but Another Monkey? 🤔 Is his task to release the true Wukong or what? Please explain me....
15:16 The scene where he transforms into a peach is a nod to a moment from the original story. Sun Wukong was once invited to the heavenly realm to guard the celestial peach garden. But seeing so much fruit, the Monkey King couldn’t resist indulging himself. After eating his fill, he transformed into a peach on the tree and fell asleep. He revealed himself when a heavenly maiden came to pick the peaches and unknowingly picked him.
What has wukong done to show that he's a threat to Kratos, the Destroyer of multiple Universes and their God's? Kratos has Wukong in strength, speed, and I'd suggest even skill.
You are playing as the clone of wukong. A strand of hair that survived. This story is closer to a more brutal story of wukong rather the journey of the west story. Its more catered to a brutal form of gods who treated wukong like shit, and his people. This is after he has lost to buddah, went through enlighten after eating all the peaches and making him self 5 times immortal. Then he has 72 variations so you have to kill this guy 72 different times lol. He toys with his enemies and sings of confidence. Dragon Ball Z's Goku was inspired by the Wukong character. Wukong loves to fight, become stronger and help his friends and kind.
Hello people! Here to give some context on the beguinong of the game for whoever feels a bit lost, including Afro. This game is supposed to be after journey to the west, we don't play as Wukong, but a random monkey that is destined to bring Sun Wukong back, that's why we start like fodder after fighting Erlang (the other most powerfull warrior on the whole universe besides Wukong) If anyone wants to know more about the monkey king, please, feel free to ask. And to answer the question about Kratos vs Wukong, yeah, Wukong would fold Kratos like and omelette so hard it wouldn't even be funny

Just so you know the character we play as is not son wukong but the “destined one” an original character tasked with gathering the relics of wukong to try and release him from his rock.

Sun Wukong is both a trickster, and an immortal being on the level of gods who once defeated all the armies of heaven. That voice is indeed very fitting.
I think all the people who know Journey to the West know that voice is pretty damn good in both languages. All the English speakers were expecting Goku or something.
I don't know him getting cooked in a celestial alchemy furnace for 49 days, and instead of death, he came out with true sight is probably top 3 for me. A very frustrating monkey indeed.
23:45 wukong can change his hair into an exact copy of kratos, with all his abilities, he has 86k hair with each of them able to change into more copy of kratos to fight kratos. Kratos is not winning this one
To those who are out of the loop, we're playing as a "random" monkey who will "revive" or awake the OG Monkey King Sun Wukong. From what I know this game takes place after the Journey of the West wherein Sun Wukong became buddha which is why there's no hp bar since he technically have multiple layers of immortality after his quest.
yea i dont understand how ppl can think this could be the past, when you can clearly see the mountain get covered with growing wildlife during the seasonal skips. and the old monkey clearly says the rock has been there ever since he was born. so its clear this happens a couple decades after wukong has been `defeated` .
The first boss is Erlang Shen, one of the god in heaven. He also has 72 transformation as Wukong. So, Wukong has 2 rivals that can match him are Natra and Erlang Shen👀 Also he doesnt have health bar cuz he erased his name in the book of life and death when he’s mess around in the hell. That's why Wukong cant die. Hope it helped to clear the first intro ! Updated : The king of hell reported to Jade emperor that he messed around the hell. Then he go to the heaven stealing some fairy peaches, drink some miracle wine, and take elixirs before goddess party begin. 😂
He has like 8 different sources of Immortality too. Its not just him erasing his name in the book. He also ate an entire garden of peaches where every single peach could grant immortality. They took a god slaying axe to his neck and the axe broke.
Funny enough, saying Erlang has 72 transformations would put him on par with Wukong, the thing is, canon lore has it that Erlang has 73, just one more than wukong, thus beating him
Hell yeah, bro. Your war with the Wight was awesome. This was the first game I’d played in about 10 years and the first game of its kind I’d ever tried… got a ps5 just to play it, and beat the Wight in about 12 tries. Felt AMAZING
There is no immortality for Kratos. He will die if he is killed while Our boi Wukong just can't die even with his immortality removed because of how many layers he have.
Wukong is arguably the strongest fictional character there is. This dude got multiple layers of immortality and every single one of his hair can turn in a clone just as powerful as the original and those clones can make more clones. This just the base, he got even more power so, as much as I love Kratos, he is not winning against Wukong.
While he is OP, 'Strongest in fiction' is excessive wank. Several layers of immortality is impressive, yeah. But several of those immortalities are just longevity, and they also, as this game shows, doesn't stop him from getting defeated. (Not to mention that there are plenty of enemies in the book that he needed help to defeat). Aside from that and the clones(both of which other fictional characters have similar abilities to, none of his tricks are really all that special if compared against all of fiction. Like, there are fictional, characters capable of destroying universes with a thought, which Wukong really wouldn't have an answer to. You could say he is the strongest in Journey to the West, and you would have a reasonable stancfe.
Its also worth noting that every trick Wukong has is LEARNED, not innate to him. Meaning that, aside from the immortality, theoretically any character in his own book could learn his tricks, and there are several examples of characters actually doing so.
Man, I was thinking the same thing. But, people don't realize the influence wukong has had on everything. Movies, anime, etc. But, Kratos is a different kind of beast. If they fought three times? I would say Kratos comes out top. The reason is, Wukong was arrogant and made a lot of mistakes. Kratos anger and rage is what would propel him to beat him. Who knows though, but that's my opinion.
@@jonathangoodwin5609 counterpoint, if wukong fought some insane being he would probably be able to learn its powers. He isn't the strongest in journey to the west (supreme buddha still has him beat) but i think he is kind of like goku, as in he can become infinitely powerful.
By the way Afro, after the tutorial it does take place in the future because the mountain is still in the same destroyed state that wukongs brother left it in.
Ok so back when the game was announced I took it upon myself to read the novel, couldn't read the whole thing as it got weird and I lost interest but I guess I got though the prologue just before the "Journey to the west" began. Here's what I remember: There's this nice mountain, and in that mountain there's a rock, that rock gets showered by cosmic energy and eventually after a many many years, something happens and the monkey is born from the rock, as he is born the whole world takes notice that something happened. Years go by and the monkey is living in the mountain with his other monkey having fun and stuff until he eventually gets bored (maybe he fears death and goes seek imortality) and then he goes on an adventure. He travels a bit and eventually reaches a temple with a bigshot monk in it. The monk gives him a riddle and the monkey solves it, and the monk decides to give him a Buddhist name. He first thinks of Sun MuWon, but that has some negative meaning and then he finally lands on Sun WuKong which means monkey awakened to emptiness. He stays there some more, learns cool stuff, like a bunch of transformations and a nice summersault and then leaves. (forgot if he got some form of immortality from this). On his way back he stops by some kind of king's temple, berates the king and steals the king's cool item including the power pole (it has something nice inscribed in it but I forgotwhat). He also erases his friends' names from the records of death so they're all immortal now I guess. Eventually he gets back to him original mountain, and he gets the name handsome monkey and monkey king (or maybe that was before his trip). Anyways, the gods get annoyed at him for being arrogant and want to teach him a lesson so they come down to beat him up. Turns out WuKong is hella tough and gives them a run for their money. They keep sending ops, but no one is strong enough for our boy. Until the, Jade Emperor, who is the big shot god in this pantheon, think Odin, Zeus, Amon Ra, summons the man the myth the legend Erlang (this is the guy that was fighting WuKong at the beginning in the video). This guy is described the be insanely handsome. They battle it out, both take on a bunch of forms in between, including birds at some point (like in the video) but it either ends up in a stalemate or Erlang wins. Stuff happens, and they reach a deal where all the gods agree to send WuKong to heaven, but give him a fake title that has 0 responsabilities. It takes a while for him to realize this and when he does he gets mad and demands to be given the title "Great Sage Equaling Heaven", which is very arrogant. Stuff happens they give him the title and he is put in charge of a garden. The heavens are about to hold a big banquet, WuKong is bored and he eats some fruit from the garden that he was supposed to take care of, which he definitely shouldn't have done. He pulls up to the banquet and he drinks the fancies wine, gets drunks, which he definitely shouldn't have done, and then he eats one more thing and gets high, which he definitely shouldn't have done. Turns out, all 3 of those things give immortality and he now has, like 3 or 4 layers of immortality. The heavens are absolutely fucking livid at him and they send a bunch more gods to fight. Eating all 3 things made him into a super saiyan basically so he was unstoppable, no matter who came at him, WuKong beat their ass. It wasn't until Buddha himself, the omnipotent one above all, the presence, zeno-sama, the creator, the writer of the novel himself pulled up and told him if he could leave his hand, WuKong would be free to go otherwise he'd surrender. Wukong was like bet, did an insane summersault, travelled to the edge of the universe in seconds, took a piss at the corner, wrote something down and then summersaulted back. He thought he passed the test, but turns out he was in Buddha's hand all along, (this scene gets referenced in other media so it's good to know the origin). So he gave up, got sealed somewhere on earth, and had the tiara thing that tightens a lot causing immense pain on his head at some point. This is bout where I stopped reading, but after this the novel starts going bouncing from character to character, reciting poems and becomes a bit hard to follow. But it picks up again when a certain monk is tasked by a Boddhisatva to take very very ultra important scrolls somewhere west, and forces WuKong to accompany this new monk as a way to atone. He is joined by Sandy, and Pig something (the one Wukong referrences at the begging) who the Boddhisatva met when he laid the groundwork for the scripture to be transferred. And so began the Journey to the West. Thanks for reading all this, you probably could've read a summary online, but thanks anyways
here are some errors i found and clarifications that might help you understand better: 1 - At the beginning of the story, Sun and his fellow monkeys saw a stream and decided to follow it and see where it led to. They soon find out it leads to a huge waterfall. The monkeys decide that whoever goes into the waterfall and comes out alive will be honored as a king. Of course, Wukong goes in and out alive so they make him their majesty and call him their Handsome Monkey King. There was a giant room with a throne behind the waterfall (idk how to say it in English). Wukong and the monkeys decide to live there and they did for a while. One day, an elder monkey dies from old age and that triggers Wukong mid-life crisis (death battle joke). Wukong started to fear death so he decided to leave the palace to seek immortality and that's when he starts his first adventure. 2 - He actually meets 2 monks with the 2nd one teaching him his 72 tricks. Transformation, summersault cloud and pluck of many being some of them. He leaves one of the monks because of a misunderstanding and the other one because his master doesn't see any reason for him to stay since he taught him everything. He hasn't reached immortality yet. 3 - A powerful being needs a powerful weapon, so he seeks to the Dragon's Palace in search for a good weapon. None of the weapons the Dragon King provided was useful to him so he wanders around and finds a gigantic pole that can change size at will. In the King's eye, it was just a useless pole he used to measure the depht of the sea, but it was the perfect weapon for Sun Wukong. 4 - He only erases HIS name in the book of death so he literally cannot die. 5 - When the gods and goddesses gave Wukong a job in the heavens, he was a stableboy aka the last rank in heaven. Basically his job was to take care of horses and horse shit. Of course, he gets mad and wants to have a proper job. The Jade Emperor finally decides to make him the Guard of the Immortal Peaches. 6 - At the banquet, while being drunk, he also gets into one of the god's palace (I forgot who) and empties like 5 gourds each with thousands of immortality pills. So he's basically OVER 9000!! in immortality. 7 - The Buddha reached nirvana so the entire universe was in his palm. That's why Wukong couldn't get out of his hand. (btw that also means he pissed on the buddha's finger and wrote on one of his fingers aswell). So because he lost the bet, Bouddha locked him under a mountain in timeout for 500 years. After 500 years (don't forget he's immortal so he didn't die) he's tasked to escort a monk to the west Tangsanzhang thus beginning his pilgrimage to the West. bonus fact: in the tv series (and the story), there was a kid who would feed wukong while he was locked in the mountain and once he got out, he met an old man who was once that kid who fed wukong all these years ago (ofc he wasn't 500 yrs old). So this was another reference to Wukong's immortality. 8 - Pigsy and Sandy were actually monsters/obstacles on Wukong's path, but his master Tangsanzhang decided to recruit them. Pigsy was once a god but got caught acting sus towards other goddesses while drunk and Sandy was a guard that killed anyone who dared step foot on a bridge. bonus fact: Pigsy's name in Chinese literally means 8 forbidden things. So after being punished and reincarnated into a pig, he couldn't do 8 things (like drinking and other stuff). Hope this helped!
The reason why Sun Wukong is confident is because he was able to beat the Divine Army no problem the first time they attacked him. When they attacked him a second time, that’s the three-eyed god(who Tien from Dragon Ball is inspired from) who is the Jade Emperor’s nephew, joined in along with his squad and dog. Sun Wukong would beaten the nephew as well, but TLDR, the nephew was just barely able to subdue the Monkey King with help due to luck.
Erlang is on par with Sun Wukong in terms of power. Both of them mastered the 72 transformations and have achieved several legendary feats, that is why Guanyin recommended the Jade Emperor to send Erlang Shen to subdue Wukong in the novel "Journey to the West".
This game is sooooooo freaking awesome! I haven’t been excited and addicted to play a game since Elden Ring. I don’t fully know the original story but the story is great so far and I can’t put it down. This game is a breath of fresh air!
Adding some context to Wukong vs Kratos. You remember that part in Ragnarök during the fight with Thor where you get a fake game over? Wukong would've ate that hit 10x over and still take him on no difficulty. Wukong has 7 variations of immortality to the point where fighting him is flat out impossible. The only reason why Erlang Shen was able to best him was because of the circlet on his head that gives him an ear splitting headache when a chant is performed, one of the very few ways the gods in Chinese mythos can take on Sun Wukong without burying him in a mountain.
the directors of ragnarok already confirmed that the fake game over was just a one thing they wanted to do and that kratos wasn't killed nor knocked out by it. Which is proved as kratos is tanking full power thor in the 2nd fight and overpowering him without himself going full power. Old kratos has been confirmed by Cory barlog to be stronger than his younger self and We've never seen old kratos go full power against anyone. Kratos is possibly the strongest god in all mythos and wukong prolly the closest to him as Kratos destroyed a whole mythology which is Greece and proceeded to destroy Norse's strongest god without even needing to go full power. Plus the director also told that during baldur vs kratos first fight. He wanted a mountain to be thrown at kratos but it was not technically possible at that time but now with ps5 maybe in the next game we can see kratos get bigger fights
Kratos slaps wukong...didnt you just see him die in the beginning lol. Kratos fought and killed all Greek Gods in the same day LOL. then goes to another timeline and killed their gods stop it. Kratos slams wukong
Well, for context you are basically the villian in the journey to the west wukong is a absolute menace, he fought whatever and whenever he wanted he was asked to guard the peaches of immortality and was caught eating from them erased his name from the book of death, and drunk from the immortal wine, which is why he laughs when Erlang brings up immortality

Something you might not know, is that Erlang and Wukong are good friends, and sworn brothers too. He threatened to level Wukong's mountain to make the celestial court happy, but in the end, he didn't actually do it.
When Wukong threatened to pluck out Erlang's third eye, he actually means to store his memories in it to be retrieved by his descendents (the player character)
Erlang was the first to rebel against heaven, even before Wukong.

Although it is highly believable.)

@@mpogaming2728 that's the 72 earthly transformation, they are not extra lives and are more like 72 divine abilities.
Some background on Sun Wukong:
He was a monkey who ate from the tree of immortality and obtained godly strength.
Why they want him back?
You did miss the part where Buddha imprisons him in a mountain for 1000 years for his shenanigans. The monk he “teams up with” is Sanzhang and he didn’t exactly team up with him.
Someone explain please,
Wukong got Sealed after tear apart Heaven right?
After that he got released by the monk, and Buddha Task Him to Escort the Monk to the West
And is after that he Back to the Mountain, and this Story (the game) begin?

When wukong dies he’s reborn into an incarnation, the cost is him losing his memories, this is one of the 7 immortal traits of wukong.
8:19 My mans went full Saiyan for a sec🤣 my lord that sequence was dope
By the way Afro, after the tutorial it does take place in the future because the mountain is still in the same destroyed state that wukongs brother left it in.
Dude I just clicked to see why everyone is playing, now I cant stop watching
Ok so back when the game was announced I took it upon myself to read the novel, couldn't read the whole thing as it got weird and I lost interest but I guess I got though the prologue just before the "Journey to the west" began. Here's what I remember:
There's this nice mountain, and in that mountain there's a rock, that rock gets showered by cosmic energy and eventually after a many many years, something happens and the monkey is born from the rock, as he is born the whole world takes notice that something happened.
Thanks for reading all this, you probably could've read a summary online, but thanks anyways
here are some errors i found and clarifications that might help you understand better:
1 - At the beginning of the story, Sun and his fellow monkeys saw a stream and decided to follow it and see where it led to.

Aint read all that
The reason why Sun Wukong is confident is because he was able to beat the Divine Army no problem the first time they attacked him.
That and Guanyin + Buddha’s headband
Erlang is on par with Sun Wukong in terms of power. Both of them mastered the 72 transformations and have achieved several legendary feats, that is why Guanyin recommended the Jade Emperor to send Erlang Shen to subdue Wukong in the novel "Journey to the West".
Missed a boss that gives you a transformation ability. Go left of the area you fought the baby boss.

I HIGHLY recommend playing this game in it's original Chinese, the tonal and vocal performances are wonderful!!
This game is sooooooo freaking awesome! I haven’t been excited and addicted to play a game since Elden Ring. I don’t fully know the original story but the story is great so far and I can’t put it down. This game is a breath of fresh air!
Really waited 4 years for this game and I couldn't have been more impressed. Amazing game man 😭😭
Adding some context to Wukong vs Kratos.

In lore, Wukong bested the entire army of Heaven and its Generals in combat and they had to get Erlang to come and beat him to which he couldn’t but had him on the ropes before Heaven intervened. This Wukong has already become a Budha and has made his journey…He has beaten Gods and demons feared by Gods and is stronger than he has ever been. As for the start of the video Afro! Easiest way to beat the Wandering Wight is to get him to not face you, sneak up on him and execute 3 back-to-back light combos. He falls, regen stamina, hit 2 light combos, hit a power hit, knocking him down. Regen to half stamina, hit 1 light combo and a power hit, then finish it off with an immobilize, and combo/power hit the last bit of his health.
It only took me like 20 times to win finally LOL

in lore, wukong is him. basically does what he wants and bodies anyone that doesnt let him. if he cant body them he finesses them. if he cant do either, he plays jokes on them and leaves. and as he goes, he just goes up. the only thing that messes him up is his pride. but it always ends up working out for him in the end. dude is untamable.

@notrlygrim7268 I beat him in like my third try. His moves are very easy to dodge and the timing window for perfect dodge is really forgiving.
So many references in that beginning fight . And how the game gives you a glimpse of wukong at his strongest is very similar to god of war 2 when we start off as the god of war and Kratos then loses all his powers

I had some problems on that mini boss too, strangely enough it was harder than all the others and even the final boss (at least on that level, I just finished the first chapter in the woods). You should go back, you left one of the most useful powers behind, if you go right from the area of the mini boss you should find another zone with a bell and a guardian there
