I've watched different videos and tried two ideas that people had and ended up following this video and it worked to the tee! Had I followed this video I wouldn't have wasted 50.00 of tools from other people videos that didn't work. Again, excellent video and coaching!
This is a great video. Thanks for the pro tips 11 years later!!!
Thank you Jesus for bringing me to Mr. Singer's website. Have been stressing over this problem for awhile, looking for answers for broken flange. I used electric reciprocating saw, hammer, and big flat head screw driver. Did what you mentioned very carefully and was able to pop old broken one out and put in new one. It has been a constant worry for months. So, thank you thank you so much. Now on to the tiling around the toilet.
Just removed a broken flange from pvc pipe! I am a 53 year old woman! Not a plumber! Watched your video several ti Estoy! Finally got the nerve to do it! Thank you so much! Now I am going to replace the wax seal and put that puppy back where it belongs!,!!!!
Thank you so much for this video! This might not mean much to you, but I am going through some financial hardship dealing with a very sick child, instead of having to hire a plumber that would charge an arm and a leg, your video help me succeed with this DIY repair under 50 dollars! Thank you so much, I wish you a blessed day!
Thanx man you're like the Gordon Ramsey of the toilets bro!!! Good info my boy
Thank you, American Gordan Ramsay!
Just wanted to say thanks for the well done video and especially the pro-tip with the hole saw to demo the flange ring. 35 yr plumber here so respek to the the tradesmen out there!
The saw and chisel technique worked perfectly. Thanks for posting. Thank goodness my builder didn't use Primer but just glue.
Damn this hole saw trick is genius! You're a genius!
Thank you!
Im going to need this guy to come to my house please lol
Here I go about to replace a flange and I know for a fact it is cleaned and primed because Im the one who put it in 4 years ago. Dangit.
Update: this video helped me immensely. Saved over $300 and DIYd this with a 4" hole saw and it worked great. I definitely would not have been able to chisel it all off as it was essentially welded together.
Thanks again!
Excellent video
your video was just what i was looking for! i followed your instructions and used my 4" hole saw and that was perfect! ONE thing i would like to add. I do a lot of wood working,,, if you use a sharp hole saw and run the drill in reverse it will not walk! and it will still eat right thru the PVC like a hot knife thur butter!
Thanks again for the video... that broken flange would have cost at least $600 with a plumber!
Excellent video 👍
Thanks for this amazing video thanks to your video I was able to fix the problem I had !!
This video was great. Thank you. I mean it.
Excellent. The hole saw trick worked great. Made my closet flange change/repair job much faster. Thank you!
Very helpful. Both video and spoken words made it easy to follow.
Thank you. My project was completed without a single issue thanks to this clear and very well performed video.
It worked easily!! Saved me a lot of grief.
My husband really appreciated your video. He followed your instructions on our broken 4" ABS closet flange and, fortunately, the flange wasn't "welded" to the pipe. He said it separated from the pipe just like yours did in the video. Great job!
I was worried when I broke my flange but your tips really saved me. Thank you for making this video!
Excellent video. Completed a good repair using Oatey 3" PVC "Twist -N-Set" Replacement Flange (#436544) from Lowes, $10. I used a die grinder and cutoff wheel to cut the old flange from the waste pipe. With the gasket seal, this installation has the added benefit of being removable if it breaks again.
Two notes: 1) Some wax rings come with a plastic flange that funnels waste into the pipe beneath. The 3" Twist-n-Set flange slightly reduces the pipe diameter such that the plastic flange on the wax ring is too big and won't fit inside. Buy and install a plain replacement wax ring without the plastic flange. 2) The porcelain discharge nipple beneath the toilet may extend 1/8" or so beneath the toilet base. During the repair, rest the toilet on 4x4's front and back to avoid resting the brittle nipple on the floor and perhaps damaging it.
Great video. Thanks
This was the most helpful video yet, thank you. I have an outer fitting flange, so here I go...
Nice effin job and kudos for speaking clearly with good video. Thats hard to come by...
Thank you this was a great help
By far the best video I could find to repair the toilet flange. Great information and to the point!!
Very helpful! Thanks
William Dafoe both a great actor and a great plumber!
anyway smart guy its not william dafoe its willem at least know the actors name when you clown on them whos the clown now lol
Joe Dominguez dork
Lol unexpected laugh
I was going to say that .. nice video -- 100% change of me breaking the 4 in pipe.. I will let the plumber do this job
nah man, Gordon Ramsay.
I love when guys take time out to show tricks of the trade. thanks
Good job
Great video. I have done a lot of various handyman things over the years including augering the main sewage pipes for tree roots. This time I happened upon a completely broken toilet flange that was causing leaks into a wooden floor. After watching this video and with a lot of work with a chisel and hammer, I was able to remove the thoroughly glued in and sealed flange and replace it. I did have to drill into the concrete to mount it, but that really wasn't a big deal. The hardest part was chiseling out the old flange from the inside of the pipe. Synopsis, leak is fixed and it cost me a total of about $30 for the parts ( a silicone seal instead of the cheap beeswax $8, new replacement flange and rubber seal $17 at Home Depot, and concrete screws and some washers for the flange - it didn't come with any screws for mounting). Thanks again for the video and great tips.
Thank you for the tutorial. I have had a problem toilet for years and when I removed the toilet I found that the flange was cracked big time and leaking under a tile floor. I followed your tutorial and sawed most of the way through the old flange and was able to pop out most of it cleanly. Any spots didn't come off clean I went in with a Dremel tool with a sanding disc and then followed up with some emory cloth. Worked out perfectly. Thank you!
We Love you, great attitude, thank You, so many options to fit whatever a homeowner is dealing with!
Excellent instruction....I'm HVAC, but do maintenance and instruction too...This video is a great tool to show students before having them do it themselves...Thanks to the gent that made it.
Excellent instructions - covering all the potential gotchas and how to deal with them. Thanks!
Thank you for considering all different scenarios and challenges. You are great!
I was impressed by the way you rubbed the fecal matter from the pipe with your bare fingers.
Using the 4" hole saw approach is genius!
Joe Chasse
To make life easier, I used a 4' hole saw and cut a centering cap out of 3/4 inch plywood(It gave me a 3.7" diameter cap). It fits tight inside the pipe, then I would use the existing drill bit hole on the cap to center the 4 1/4" hole saw. Then I chiseled the rest like you said.
This was a huge help. Thank you for adding this video! 🙏
4" hole saw. Love the tip. Thanks.
Massive man-hug to you mate! Saved me from a frustrating situation indeed!
Thank you for this video. After a redo of our bathroom, the flange was almost one inch high. I was able to cut out the old one and insert the new one very easily - took less than 15 minutes for the work.
This is an excellent instructional video, with practical instruction for flange repair.
Fantastic diy video; worked exactly as you said. Thanks for making it easy. Keep up the good work.
I can't thank you enough for posting this video. Since my plumbing is coming up through a concrete slab I was really at a loss how to tackle this project.
Thanks! I am repairing someone else's cluster fuck on a house we bought 7 years ago...
Recently the main line stopped up, we have no cleanouts so we tried going through both toilets. In the process we found 1 toilet had 1 bolt 1/2 gone and one broke in two... the only thing holding it to the floor was a bead of silicon around the edge. Those were screws in to the concrete, there is no flange. It's PCE so we will use that internal flange. Many thanks!
Gerald...you make a great instructor...very thorough and well done!
I used this tip last Sunday and it worked great. Thanks.
Never would have considered the hole saw. Nice!
This is the video that I was looking for! great job and thank you sir!
WOW. Been thinking about how I am gonna fix my problem. 4" hole saw idea just topped off my own ideas. Thank You!!!
2022 thanks Man, save my life!!!
Thanks for posting and sharing this video.
Great video. I did this repair today and it worked great! Thanks.
Thank you, your video was very helpful to this DIY homeowner.
thanks for the clear video saved me a lot of time with the hole saw thing.
Excellent video.... Made my repair a piece of cake!!!
Exactly the video I need. Thank you so much Sir!
Thanks! Lots of handy advice here, which I can really use.
Thank you so much. This is a fantastic tutorial. I was able to replace my toilet flange without much difficulty. Just needed a little elbrow greese and time. I was able to get the right tools and right parts. You are AWESOME!
And, your voice reminds me of Dennis Leary. So- that's a bonus.
Thank you! Awesome tips!
Great instructional video! Very informative.
Gordon Ramsay doing plumbing now?😳😳😳
Thanks for the video. It works like a charm.
Excellent instruction, thank you very much for the help.
This is so funny, I noticed the seal on my toilet broke last night, letting water flow out because the flange is broken and allowing the toilet to move. This morning this video is in my suggested videos... how did you know youtube! lol
It was Jesus helping you out, he did the same for me this am. Fixed my toilet. So very happy.
Thanks for the video, it was well explained!
Thanks a lot for such a good information people like you makes the worls keep spinning God bless you......Thanks
Thanks for the video! 👍
aaahh so that's how you do it. just enough detail. great vid. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the great tips!
Gerald thank you so much for this video it was most definitely a life saver and helped me out of a jam as a first timer. Also I would like to say that the waxless seal from fluidmaster doesn't work. It was what caused my bowl flange to break when I was tighten up the bowl. Nevertheless I got it fixed and everything works great with a regular wax ring.
Absolutely amazing how well this worked. I went to my local big box store, bought the tools I needed, and everything exactly how the video demonstrated. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Thanks for the video!
Bro you saved my life! Thank goodness for your experience I’ll buy you dinner and liquor if you’re ever in Myrtle beach
Very helpful, Thank you
This worked perfectly for me! Thanks!!!!
Worked perfectly
Thanks for the great video man.
Very informative! Great video.
It looks good. I thought that you might to be able to do this, but I was not sure. After watching this video, I know that I can do it!
Awesome video. Super helpful
The best vedio on RUclips, Excellent tutorial, I watch almost all the tutorial to replace my toilet flange, this was excelent. Thank you keep up the good work..
Great video. I just watched this and did myself without a hitch!
Great video. Great info.
Great video 👍, thanks so much!!!! Saved me for sure 😁
I never knew Willem Dafoe was a Plumber!
Nice video, helped me out a lot.
Thanks for this video...very well made and gave a couple of options. I'm hoping that this will be the only time I ever have to replace a flange so I went with the cheaper jab saw and chisel method. A little bit more work but everything went smooth. I now feel much better knowing that in the future I'll be able to poop in comfort because my toilet and all of its parts have been installed correctly :)
Richard, My compliments. You got the idea of these videos. With a few pointers and tips and a bit of critical thinking you can do minimum repairs without spending hundreds of dollars on specialty tools. I love the people who say they bought a $150.00 dollar tool and the repair went great. And they probably will never use that tool again.
Great video! Ty!!
The 4" hole saw was a life saver. As an electrician I didnt have a chisel handy, but I sure had a 4" hole-saw.
Had to use your sectioning/notching idea for the remaining piece. Even though I had purple primer it came out nice and easy with a little tapping here and there.
Fantastic video man, thank you so much.
Did you comb your hair before each shot? please confirm.
Thanks a billion, man!!!
buen video, mil gracias
very informative video. Great job
Very though and informative. Thanks!
informative... thank you again
Well played
Thanks bro!👍👍
