Right on. I just purchased a 2016 Ram Laramie 3500 6.7 DRW. I’m new to owning a Ram let alone a truck or a diesel. This info is helpful. I noticed the couple times I’ve hit the accelerator to the floor, just to see what the motor was about, a service message would come up. Anyways I’ve joined a Ram forum and some lean to this filter you spoke of possibly needing replacement. Thanks for the video.
the screen info is generic, NOW if they applied VIN specific part 3's THAT WOULD BE something to give credit to..... of course that would NEVER happen!!
My 2013 Laramie Longhorn does not have these Apps. I do have an Owners Manual and the Diesel Addendum, which has all this info and more. I downloaded those two documents and pit them on my SD Card (thank you Android phone) so i have access evenbif I dont have internet service. Another way to "skin that cat".
I’m not sure on the new gen trucks. My truck is an 18’ (4th Gen). I can say that some people have commented that their 4th gen doesn’t have it. All that to say that the truck may have to be programmed with that specific software. I kind of stumbled on it after owning the truck for a while.
Yeah, I hear ya. A lot of these fancy gizmos and gadgets are reserved for the higher end models but I have a Big Horn and as everyone knows, the Big Horn is a middle of the road model. It could be that when the dealership ordered this truck specifically, they added an upgraded head unit. My head unit has Navigation and some other cool stuff but the truck is otherwise, very much a Big horn.
Thank you Zia Great video, I just got my 2021 Ram long horn 6.7 diesel And I’m going to check it up. I going to check more of your videos on this truck👍🏻. I found you cause I was looking up to see IF I need to plug the block in on very cold day? I think it said they NOT plug in. I’ll look into it more. Do you know if they do Zia? Thank you have a great day.
Thanks for watching! Glad the video helped. You don’t have to plug it in on a very cold day but it always helps. The Cummins has a Grid heater unlike the glow plug that the Duramax and Powerstroke use. With the grid heater you don’t have to plug it in if you don’t want to or can’t. That’s only one of the reasons that Cummins is better than the others 😉
If you live in a area during winter and you are constantly -10 degrees or colder for many days. This does help the engine start with warmer fluid and engine block. If you have a truck 10 plus years , if you can minimize the amount of cold starts with cold oil this does have a good long term effect. But if you are in that cold climate, using a proper weight of oil would be best for better lube flow. Early 4th gens can run 15-40 or 5-40 colder weather range rating. I believe 5th gens only recommends 5-40 due to style of rockers. You dont need to plug it in all night. Put a timer on your extension cord to turn on a couple hours before you need it. And remember to unplug before you drive away. Learned that many times.
I’m not sure what year that became available. I would imagine that the head unit has to support that type of software. So either the dealership can install the software onto your head unit or you need an updated head unit.
The oil, coolant and transmission temps should be on the gauge cluster. Just scroll through the options until you find vehicles info and then scroll down until you find the temps. They’re not 100% accurate. They’ve close though
After seeing a lot of the comments. It must have been an option or an upgrade. A lot of people don’t have this feature. This feature was part of the truck when I bought it, I didn’t order it.
It should be the same software. There wasn’t a software change between 17’ and 18’ to my knowledge. But yes, the dealership may be able to help you, hopefully not at a charge.
@@85Gute the font is not like that and i think in reality it’s a 2016 model but you know that the last four months of the year are different so it kinda weird
@@CarlosOrtiz-nx1eq Yeah, your best bet would be to call the dealership and ask. My head unit will update from time to time so I’m wondering if they could set you up with the update.
I have a 2021 Ram 2500 Diesel with that same display but I do not have that user guide. There are only about 5 things under the "Apps" menu. Is that something the dealer would have to allow through a program or flash? Thanks for the info
Yeah, I’m assuming all that stuff would have to be downloaded and programmed from the dealership or possibly a 3rd party programming. I’m not sure if the head unit itself has to be able to support it.
Interesting. My 2014 Laramie doesn't have this option. Your font is different than mint too. Is this perhaps from a dealer update or reflash? My truck hasn't been to a dealership since 2015 and it's going to stay that way!
It came that way from the dealer. My truck is an 18’ so it could be that it wasn’t available on the 14’. I’m sure you can have the dealer add it but I understand not going to the dealer because I will not be taking my truck to the dealer ever unless it’s warranty work.
@@85Gute I wouldn't mind just getting the update because those features are pretty useful. But I've extensively modified my truck and the last thing I need is the dealership to flash my PCM, which would immediately put the truck into limp mode until I can reflash it with my custom tune. Really, I'd rebuild my engine in my front yard before taking it to a dealership for an oil change. 😆
It's also in that little book in the glove box.

Great video Zia, I didn't know this. We have basically a smart truck. Nice to know bro thanks again.
Rotella RO-tel-La good video, my 2021 uses 5w-30 account of hydraulic lifters
That thumbnail with quad camera display was some BS.

Pretty cool. Google would most definitely be quicker but it’s pretty cool to have that info available.
That limited to fancy trucks. The tradesman with same size media does not come equipped with that fancy rich ppl stuff. Just fyi I have a 2022

@Zia Outdoor Diesel I ordered my truck with all the options minus the roadside safety kit. So, not sure either. Maybe a mid yr update.
We have a ram 2500 but it’s a 2017 so you think at the dealer they can update the software to the newest one
