Good theory on baffle removal, I’m just not seeing it as a detriment. Performance engines, don’t have baffles and do just fine. Air volume is air volume, it’s not going to pick one spot of the turbine wheel to pass through. Only real way to tell is to put it on the dyno, not a just a scanner and butt dyno and do a before and after resonator delete. For some extra mpg, as long as it’s under warranty I’d take that sucker out and put it back in before servicing since it only takes 2 minutes to remove
The air going to the bottom and wearing out bearings i call bullshit. Spent the last 10 years building power plant turbines, the turbine itself is pulling air in, its not being forced into itself down the tube, its pulling the volume of air directly in front if itself evenly there is no way its only pulling air to the bottom, ever. Trust me if a banks intake doesnt have one its bullshit. Cummins doenst even design that intake its mopar ram
Just a heads up, if you want to save your brakes put the exhaust break to on instead of auto. Auto only works when you press the breaks on the truck whereas On works when you take your foot off the gas.
I prefer keeping mine set on auto. This way I can still leverage the ability to coast when I lift off the pedal, and just a tap on the brakes gets it to engage. Auto also helps maintain speed on downgrades, particularly when using cruise control, but also works without it.
@@Charlie-zo2nuI read somewhere ram is the only one with beast head gasket which is why they were even the first to put exhaust brakes on pick up trucks.
Aftermarket intakes don’t add a baffle, and they gain hp. The stock setup with reduced restrictions is a cheap alternative to an aftermarket intake. Likely that theory on the air not hitting the center of the turbine is exactly what it is, a theory and has no solid proof. Likely they felt what most people do when adding an intake is a slight loss on the bottom end. Ive never seen a high horsepower engine have adverse affects from a free flowing intake. You make lose alittle bottom end due to the free flow, but you pick it back up top.
The dimples on the surface can create small eddies that the airflow rides over supplying the turbo with a nonturbulent flow. The air can travel faster and cleaner over those eddies.
Just a heads up on terminology. The incoming air enters the compressor of the turbo not the turbine. The exhaust gasses are what interact with the turbine. No biggie just a friendly FYI
2015 3500 with 167k miles deleted at 120k wen the DEF fault started counting down $3500 dealer quote to fix it $2100 to delete tune straight pipe exhaust. Still on original brakes rotors and always run exhaust brake and use tow haul mode which is pretty much same thing as sport mode for all the cars.
I mean, yes and no… if you remove the baffle, it’ll definitely make the turbo noise more audible… I chose not to because I heard of negative effects to removing it entirely. If you watch the video, I specifically tell you that the purpose was to remove the intake baffles green foam that typically is wrapped around the baffle itself. Although come to find, that that 5th gen Rams do not come with the foam as the 4th gens previously did. Looking back, and noticing after replacing the intake housing itself, I should’ve went for a ride with the baffle completely removed to see the actual difference… turns out we’re all not perfect and it slipped my mind while filming 🤷🏻♀️
But the old baffles had a piece on bottom to help direct the air where the new one dose not so I think a test needs to be done with new style baffles. No way they work the same
I have a 4th gen I removed it tiny bit louder I put it back in figured anything went wrong dealer would say I modified it wasn't like it made much difference. I still have the Mopar warranty.
You should have watch this video and you would have known there was no foam... After market cold air/ram air intakes do nothing for power or throttle response. ALL stock vehicles are designed to be able to take more air in than a stock engine will ever want. Unless you are doing internal mods to the engine and exhaust you're just wasting money.
Just wondering if you can get a state inspection sticker with those wheels sticking out from the fender. Here in Massachusetts it's illegal to stick out past the fenders.
Gotta be honest, I’m not sure if there are sensors in the wheels or not. Guy I bought them from had an 06 Duramax so if there are any in them they probably wouldn’t link up too well so I honestly haven’t looked just assuming they’re not there, or that they’re just the wrong ones for the truck 🤷🏻♀️
What kind and style is that wheel also the tires my pickup is just like your except for tires and wheel. Also did you do any modifications like lift or level. Thank you.
so.....this video was pointless? here ill help...leave it out, no worries no issue....i only watched the 1rst half before i threw mine across the yard...so ya, loose it lol
This video was still useful to let those with 2020+ trucks know there is no foam. Saved me on time
Thank you for that info!

occasionally I like to coast.. sure if i'm pulling our 5th wheel but why would you run the exhaust brake all the time.
It keeps your turbo clean to run it on auto all the time
@@ELITEAUTOBODY23 it also puts crazy strain on your cylinder head, id much rather swap brakes than a head gasket.

I just picked up my 2023 3500, I noticed a little more turbi noise than my 2020. Was nice to be able to hear it whistle

I removed the baffle of my 5th Gen and yes, the Turbo sounds a little bit louder
Did it change anything
@@ronportillo3851 No
I think the divided baffle is more about air velocity, and less about sound. The vanes of the turbo divide the air into each passage of the impeller.
I’ll take the MPG over the power gains. I stopped drag racing my truck when I grew up.
why in the hell would ANYONE want to grow up? good grief man.....just dont do it...never fall for peer pressure it isnt worth it

I just got the sinister intake and it’s crazy whistle over stock
2 min of gum flapping. Another 2 min of gum flapping to find out you wasted everyone's time... 😂
I’d leave the baffle out.
What’s the part # for that center intake clamp that you broke? Looking to get a replacement myself.
Not sure… ran to harbor freight and bought a 5” clamp to replace it.
Everyone wants to be Gale Banks lol....j/k . Thumbs up! Thanks for trying and the heads up!
Every single proven performance intake deletes the baffle.

It’s not that dam loud … compared to my 3rd gen … it’s quite…
Think the newer trucks are more quiet in general... 2nd gen swap and some supporting mods will surely change the sound.
Do you have a exhaust delete on that truck. I seen u still had the EGR just wondering
I can't here the turbo at all lol
Wearing out bearing? You don't know what you are talking about. Make sure filter is cleaned that what matters .
