I found my wife the first time I was there but she passed away in 2020 but I still go there all the time because that’s where my heart is and it’s hard to live in the states after having the expsrience i have had in a short time. @marshall_law_media

    I still have my place in pop but im remote worker . I was able to pay rent for a 4 bedroom home(450) and pay 500 in rent in america for 2000 total monthly income. I think a person can live comfortably for 1500. I bought 500 dollar moto, walk to get free mangos and fish on weekends.Funny how jerry said he gave 1 year before video. Me and wife said the same she started her channel cleaning and im going to wait until my 1/3 acre permaculture farm is done

    Good conversation with you and Jerry, Jay! I saw Jerry and Sheila's channel for the first time this past weekend and I subscribed. Good to see that you guys are connected and networking. My wife and I have been watching Norberis' channel now for a while, and I was glad to see that you had one of your own, which I just subscribed to. I enjoy the content from you and your wife. I have learned a lot along the way. Despite the fact that I have been going to DR for many years, I can still find something new that i learn from you guys. My wife and I are planning to retire within the next 4-5 years. We bought our first property there a couple years ago and we are steadily putting the pieces in place for our move. Will keep watching you guys, keep up the good work!

    jay, my advice to my dear brothers and sisters is to buy the place they want to live, u can buy a decent apartment about $68,000. dollars.
    then u can live there with an income of $2,000.00 DOLLARS. if the person decides to go back to USA they can rent it out.

    This is fire! 🔥 i appreciate content from an expat thats not an incel and actually got the swag and is straight about business and family and quality of life! The women are a plus for sure but what draws me the most is that quality of life. I feel like i can slow down and be a normal person over there and not be in the rat race. Im much younger than yal but im already exhausted from being in the rat race. I havent been living man and i feel America doesn’t allow you to live as much. Only thing i have to ask yal is is this possible to achieve the same quality of life without American dollars? Sincerely. Because i wouldn’t want to move over there and be in another rat race or in survival mode im a hardworker and take pride in working hard but not for a low ROI. Because i know if i stay in America i can thrive after making it to a certain point. Thanks 💜🙏🏽💪🏽

      Brother, I appreciate this comment and the question. I do not recommend moving to Dominican Republic to find a job. Wages are low compared to the lifestyle a westerner is accustomed to. When I lived there we would spend about $5k - $7k a month. But we're a big family and help our family who live there too. If we wasn't helping family I would think about $4 - $5k a month. We eat out a lot and I don't eat Pork so that makes food cost increase a lot. Also I only eat Angus beef and that is expensive there. And we drive a lot so gas is expensive in a suv. It's very different depending on the person. I know a few people who live basic on $1000 - $1500 a month, but that would be impossible for me. I wish

    • @JayAbroad

      @@JayAbroad exacto, like I have a friend who was born there and I'm trying to convince him to move back to retire because he's on SS here and he's having a hard time surviving here. He gets $1600 a month here and he's 69 years old. I found him a nice apartment in Juan Bosch that's under $400 a month. I know he could live good on that income and he could also side hustle or get a online American job if needed. He's basically barely surviving here so I know he would do superb there. My thoughts is that it's a person by person circumstances. I would never survive on $1600 not even by myself unless I made the ultimate sacrifice, but I wouldn't be happy. But my buddy He's really Tacaño so he would strive. 😆

    • @JayAbroad
      @JayAbroad  Месяц назад

      I agree. Why you your friend is subjecting himself to barely surviving is beyond me besides where he is is his comfort zone but then it again can't be to comfortable barely surviving. $1,600 per month living in a $400 month apartment is very doable. That's close to typical meaning it's predicted that your housing should be 25 to 28% of your income to survive. After he pays his overhead and food, he should have at least $800 in disposable income. That's enough to enjoy yourself eat every now and then maybe travel to a different area of the island for the weekend. I don't spend $800 month extra and it's 3 of us. Some months we do but it's rare.

    Facts about most not all women who speak English. I would say the ones who speak professional English would be the ones to go for, the ones who speak Resort & Sosua English stay away from. I never paid to play before my wife and I got married and serious. But my situation is different because I speak Spanish, so I had an advantage. But I use to pretend like I didn't understand to see what they would be saying. Also when I was single back in the day there was no Google translate or smart phones back then. It was no whatsapp either, so you had to speak Spanish.

I am seriously considering relocating to the DR by Summer 2025,so can you point me in the durection of single detached homes with fenced in yards for people with dogs who want to relocate? I got to bring my fourlegged sidekick with me.Lastly,whats it like for us single guys coming there? Ive heard so many stories,so I want to know what to expect as far as nightlife and the dating scene. Thanks in advance!

      It all depends on where you want to live bro. No area or city is exactly the same.

      There are clinics for US veterans in DR too, where all services are rendered free of cost and billed to the VA in the US.

    Appreciate the budgeting convo. I was wondering about that. Just curious, what's your citizenship situation? Are you still a U.S. citizen and do you have to maintain a visa or do you have a dual citizenship? How does that work?

    • @JayAbroad
      @JayAbroad  Месяц назад +1

      Yes we are both still US citizens. You don't need a visa to live in DR. However you can apply for residency if you want.

    Damn, my husband and I pay $6000 a month on living expenses in Cali. With that, we could live beautifully out there. What about things like health and car insurance?

    • @JayAbroad
      @JayAbroad  Месяц назад +1

      Car Insurance is fairly inexpensive depending on the car. As far as health insurance for a family of 3 we pay $180 a month.

My mother just found out she had 4 sisters she never knew about who we just met from ancestry and my wife found out about a brother in Miami who her dad had lol, and I found my first cousins from my father's side who I never knew existed because my father died when I was young. What people feel when they get to D.R. is the sincerity in the people and their hospitality, something not found in the U.S. cause its not taught! Racism doesnt help either. God Bless you both, enjoy gents!
    Also I forgot to mention quality of life is no comparison! Im out!
