    Santo Domingo is a combination of New York, Miami and a bit of New Orleans thrown in (using Zona Colonial in this respect) When I first came to the DR, I was apprehensive about visiting the city, but now, no trip is complete without SD.

    Good point Jay, you said a person could get to know the lay of the land of Puerto Plata and other locations in the Dominican Republic in a day or two. I live in Puerto Plata and travel to Santo Domingo frequently and I can say there is NO WAY you can learn Santo Domingo in a day or two from Villa Meja to Gazcue just raveling alone would take more than two days not to mention stopping at various sites to familiarize yourself along the way would take many trips. The other challenge is it is so easy to get stuck in your favorite part of the city like Bella Vista and neglect Piantini right down the street. For your Santo Domingo is #1 for me it's #2...LOL!

    • @JayAbroad
      @JayAbroad  7 месяцев назад +1

    I’ve been to DR three times so far. My first time was Punta Cana, second and third times in Santo Domingo, Zona Colonial. On my last visit in January I decided to make Santo Domingo my second home. If I could move there now I wouldn’t hesitate. Do you have any advice on areas such as Puerto Plata and Samana? I’m thinking about exploring those areas next. As much as I love Santo Domingo, if I move to DR I want to be close to a beach. I did go to Boca Chica for a day.
