I bust out laughing when she said Dominican eat lots of Platano and salami. I looked at my plate and that's exactly what I'm eating. I'm in Miami.😂
😅
🤣🤣
We eat a lot of rice green peas red beans chicken beef fish
Ya Tu sabe 😆
Nice the, 🇩🇴 ❤
I’m a first gen Dominican born in the U.S. and moved to D.R. with my family 25 years ago. We raised our children here and were able to give them much better quality of life. I don’t regret it for a second. Coming “home” was the best decision we ever made.
I love hearing about people who relocate here and have such a positive experience. Your daughter is adorable and so poised. Blessings to your family. Thank you for sharing your story.
Absolutely, the quality of life for kids is awesome here. Lately, I've heard many Dominicans that would love to do the same and move back to the island but can't. So yes it's been a blessing to be able to bring my wife back home. She's loving it here. You're welcome
Thts awesome... my husband wants to retire there, but I personally do not want to live there.
We all respect, I know a family that bought a built a house there, furnished it n then moved n on second week got rob n killed. What part of DR u live in? Are there English schools? I would need to be in a near a good hospital for treatment of my medical problem. I also live in Florida. You guys give me courage to move there. Also my husband is from there too. I'm not im from PR. Your baby girl is beautiful.
@@marimar9133 Sorry to hear about that family but it sounds like an isolated incident verses you living in Florida and it's riddled with crime all year especially in the Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Jacksonville areas. DR is 1000% safer that any major city in the US. There is no debate about it. I live in Santo Domingo. When you get the courage you'll see the quality of life here is better.
Wow she speaks Spanish with out an accent. She speaks like a Dominican 👍
I can see her become an important person to Dominicans whether it is in business, politics, arts, television, or music. She is a beautiful person.
Real talk💯✔️🎯
Thank you. I appreciate it.
I was waiting for her to speak Spanish, but as soon as she said "locrio" I knew what her level is!
The way she pronounces the city names as well.
😅
Exactly 💯 Dominican pronunciation 😂❤
Same here 😂
Her pronunciation of Spanish words is spot on. Your family did a good job raising her to be bilingual.
Yessiiirr 💪🏾
This is awesome! She’s bright, confident, and poised! She is now international exposure! Great job, Mom and Dad!!!
Hmmm...we like the way that sounds😁. Thanks😊
As a Dominican living in USA for 42 years I know that is difficult to adapt to a new culture, but later we learn to live and love the countries that welcomed us.
She is a better speaker than most 30 year olds out there. More articulated, very coherent and clear ideas. Good job dad..!! 👏🏻
Thanks 🙏🏾
REMEMBER SCHOOL CURRICULUM MUCH BETTER IN THE STATE
@@galleria100fuegocuidadsate4 False!!
@@JayAbroad are you sending York daughter to private school or state school in the DR? by the way I studied in USA and Uk after finish DR education .
@@galleria100fuegocuidadsate4 I was an honor and ap student in the states and I moved to dr for high school, although I was fluent in Spanish reading and writing because I’m Dominican I was behind in math and sciences compared to my Dominican peers, I went to a private school in the DR where English and French were mandatory as well
For us dominican it's a must to teach our kids spanish in the usa it's part of our culture been bilingual has great advantage where ever you live. Great video Jay
I totally agree! Thanks🙏🏾
She's adorable. She is your wife's twin.
Thank you🙌🏾

@@egom1993 😅
Love to see good Americans coming to DR, happy to have you and your family.
Thank you, I appreciate it.
How cute she is. My daughter is half Palestinian half Dominican I’m trying to to encourage her learning Spanish but nothing motivates her to. She learned Chinese before Spanish 😢 she’s even learning Japanese. I need to take her to DR to see if she if it motivates her.
That would definitely motivate her. My daughter wasn't motivate until she got put in the environment.
Jay, I am African and most of us love parables. The apple does not fall far from the tree. What an awesome job raising your daughter. She looks so composed and mature. One of the primary reasons immigrants start looking to returning to their homelands as they grow older is precisely due to your daughter's observation - people are just generally nicer overseas. And at some point chasing money becomes less and less important to trade off with a happier less stressful life. Nice interview.
I absolutely agree. Thanks!
👆👌💯💯💯💯💯💯🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴
My husband doesn’t know Spanish but he visited Domincan Republic with me 5 times and he loves it, he was born in Jamaica 🇯🇲 but grew up here in NYC…I am teaching him Spanish for long time but he knows a little big but ask him about food he knows all Dominican food name hahahaha…It’s more easy for children to learn a language than adults but Spanish is easy to learn when you are around people who speak Spanish most of the time..She sound so pretty speaking in Spanish❤NYC
I'm the same way. I know all the foods...lol! Thank you for wtaching
She is very intelligent. She is very knowledgeable of her surrounding. Communication skills is very high. She is talking with confidence. God bless the family.
Thank you🙏🏾
Brother Jay seems to be paid by the PRM to speak on behalf of the nation. This man loves the island more than some Dominicans.😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
No solo el, personas de distintos países del mundo hablan de lo bien que se sienten cuando vienen a RD.
You got my wife asking me about that check I've been hiding from PRM🤣😂
DR with proper income is paradise plus even being from another country Dominicans receive you with open arms, in the us is expensive and people seen to be bored of life, i wish i can get a remote job to move back because i don’t like how things are going in the US
I currently live in Florida. It is beautiful here, but people live on the edge. Everyone is piss-off and ready to fight-lots of piss-off drivers.
My son is Dominican. When he came to the United States, specifically Philadelphia Pennsylvania, he spoke very little English. I attributed that to attending school with mostly Spanish speakers. A year after moving to Montgomery Alabama, my son Angelo speaks English about 90 percent. He has picked up English colloquialisms, and he understands what them mean. My wife’s English has approved immensely. We have a toddler and my wife speaks Spanish to him and I encourage that. My wife and my son Angelo but received their 10 year permanent residence card. I told my wife 5 years she must complete her nursing school because I want to move to the Dominican Republic 6 months out of the year. I love the Dominican Republic. My Spanish is about 30 percent.
Sounds like you getting the family prepared to move. Good the kids will be bilingual. They come here already at an advantage.
@@JayAbroad my wife isn’t interested in moving back anytime soon. But I am. Took you wife’s information on citizenship for my American born Dominican mother son and residency for me through the Dominican embassy in Atlanta or In New Orlean, Louisiana. Good information by the way. Take care. Be blessed.
Shes so intelligent and well mannered. Being fluent in both languages, will be such a boost to her future. As a school teacher ,I always believe the kids, they can be brutally honest lol
Yes, agreed.
I’m Dominican and become us citizen, i follow you, I’m living in New Jersey she is so sweet and I love your family, you see in DR everyone is the same back or white , I’m glad you talking about DR , I love this channel
Yes, thanks fam. I appreciate the support.
Wow she don’t even sound like she’s American, when she’s speak Spanish👏👏👏😊 I am Dominican, but I live here in New York for almost 16 years and I’m hoping and praying that one day. I can just go back for good and stay in my beautiful ,la Romana. ❤🇩🇴 bless you, you have a beautiful family. Enjoy your country now Dominican and much success to you🙏🏾🫡
Thanks bro, I appreciate it. And yes I'm sure you'll find a way to make it happen to come back to your country.
There's a big difference between visiting a place and settling there. Punta Cana 🏖️ might be a top choice for many foreigners, but for her, it's lower on the list. Thanks to her parents, she's got a deep understanding of the country and culture. Dad, you're doing an amazing job with your daughter! 🏆 It would be great if you could share your experience with racism in a video. Have you faced it? I grew up in Santo Domingo, 🇩🇴 but I didn't know about racism or bullying until I moved to the US. 🇺🇲 #DominicanRepublic #Culture #Travel ✈️ #NoAlRacism #StopBullying #Education #Respect #Diversity
I haven't had an experience with racism so there nothing really to share. America is known for all that so it's no surprise you encounter that. I've had no issues here.
@JayAbroad The reason I bring up this topic is because on many occasions, when people learn that I am Dominican, they ask me if people of color in my country are less valued because of their skin color. Others also ask about the situation between the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Normally, I explain to them that things are not the way the media portrays them, and that in the Dominican Republic, people of our skin color make up the majority, so this is not even an issue within the country. I grew up going to school with 👨🏿🦱 classmates and Haitian teachers, and we still maintain friendships to this day. 🇩🇴❤️🇭🇹
Blessings to you, your wife, and your beautiful daughter!🙏🙏💪🇩🇴🇺🇲
Brother, I know why you asked and its a fair question. Obviously you know I don't feel the same way as the people who ask you these questions. Keep in mind these people who ask these question majority don't want to hear the answer. They already have in their mind what they believe. They are being disingenuous. They are looking to disagree not to understand. I'm not about to waste my time arguing with a bunch of avatars with letters about these topics. Remember, when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. And a lot of these people are consumed with racism because its engrained in American culture so everything they look at it's thru a racial lens. I was once the same way until I came here and traveled other places to understand not everyone looks at race the same. I personally wouldn't waste any energy trying to convince anyone of something they've already made up their mind to believe.
@JayAbroad I agree with you, you are a wise man.
@@SHARLEEHUMMER and just to add to that most have never visited the island to experience it nor do they plan to. They are agents of chaos. Let them be. Enjoy your day homie!
Hey you look like my cousin I though you were Dominican!
I’m so happy I came across this video, your daughter is beautiful and intelligent!
I’m happy for you and your family, Dominican Republic is a paradise has it all, a small continent.
God bless you and your family brother, John 3:16.
Cousin Paul, thank fam.
I loved this video, this girl is really smart. I am Dominican and have been living in the United States since I was 14 years old. For me, this has been one of the most important videos on this channel. Thank you very much. I want to move back.
Thank brother, I appreciate this feedback. Start to develop your plan to come on home.
Great video Jay, maybe your best video ever. When a child speaks, its like speaking from their hearts. Thanks for showing us your daughter brother Jay.
My pleasure, bro.
They say children always tell the truth. So I guess we’re all right after all. I am very impress how Leah answer the question. I like this interview. Great idea. 👌👌👌👌👌
Yessiiirr, thank bro.
Hi, there; bro, you forgot to ask your daughter a very key question: "schools". That's the first thing any parents with children would like to know before making their move to a foreign country. Your daughter is very smart and articulate. Congrats
100%. First thing parents want to know is how is the quality of education at the school she's attending in the DR compared to the school she attended in Ft. Lauderdale
You're right, and the reason it didn't cross my mind is she isn't in school here. She takes classes online, so bringing up the topic of school didn't cross my mind. But you are correct that interest parent more.
@jayabroad What made you guys decide to have her do online school. As a teacher and a parent I know the importance of kids being able to socialize with peers on a regular basis. I know DR has very food private schools and there is also an International School where classes are taught in English.
@smezier When we left Fort Lauderdale in 2021 she was already taking classes online because of the pandemic and we just never changed it. And also our schedules are very spontaneous so her taking online classes allow her to be flexible when we have to move around the island or leave the country.
@@JayAbroadhuh.. I assumed she was making friends at her (international) school. Out of curiosity how's she making friends then?
❤ glad you're daughter is happy with our little island. she made me smile knowing she's loving it. brung back alot of memories for me when I was young. 🇩🇴🇩🇴
Thanks bro, I appreciate that.
Congrats on the move, enjoy DR, it’s a marvelous place!!!!
Yessiiir. Thank you! Will do!
God bless your adorable beautiful daughter.
Thank you so much
She’s beautiful. I went to visit last year and saw my niece with her daughters in a beautiful apartment with security. The kids were in private school. Their life is great over there.
Yes it is. People like to project all doom and gloom here but that's not everybody's lifestyle here.
Im Dominican leaving in Arizona, and I have to, but DR is better to raise kids. She is adorable!
100% better👍🏾
Dominican in AZ...where were you when I needed a compatriota😂 I lived in AZ for almost 7 years and only saw 3 Dominicans.
You two have done an amazing job raising her. She is a very smart girl. Very articulate and relaxed speaker. God Bless to you all. 😊
Thank you so much!
As a dominican i can tell she even has a dominican accent speaking spanish 🤣😍, God bless her.
Yes, she does. God bless her and her parents.
She's definitely picking up on the accent.
His daughter is so beautiful and articulate. Happy she likes living there without separation anxieties.
Thank you.
When your daughter says " mami" u can hear her mom's Dominican influence, is something small but I hear it 🇩🇴
Yep, she he has the Dominican accent a little
The first change I get, I will be going to live on StDom. I like the culture and nature( in the campos).
Love her conversation with her dad the kid is funny and smart 😂
Thank you 🙌🏾
I was not expecting her to be so fluent in Spanish. How cute, god bless her ❤
Yes, she is really good.
She’s so cute and sweet God bless her 😊

What I can tell you is that for 10 years she can express herself professionally
Thank you.
She looks very comfortable here
😄 she was comfortable.
Dios la bendiga. She knows our country better than some of us.
Yes😅
I would love to do what you did. I am Dominican and did not have the privilege to grow up there. Now in my 40s I live in Dominican Republic in my spirit daily. ❤❤❤
Well better late than never. You're here now and enjoying a little piece of heaven🤗
My son has been to the Dominican Republic three times. We were there for a wedding three months ago. We hang out in Sto Dgo, Ballaibe and Casa de Campo. . My kid told me he wanted to move there. My two other kids have not visited the island much and were born in the US. They are 10, 17, and 19, and they all are proud Dominicans.
It's time to get the other kids to visit the island to see how like it.
@@JayAbroad They have all been there, and they all like it. There is something about Dominicans and their hospitality that makes everyone feel at home. We are very friendly. That is a virtue in DR. In the USA, that is a defect if you act like that. 😂
I have to agree.
Wow you talking about her doing things for you and translating gave me flashbacks to my own childhood when I had to translate for my mom here in the states starting at age 5 😅 My mom came from DR but my siblings and I were born here. My dream is to move back and raise my kids there! They love San Pedro 🩷
Yes, she helps me a lot. DR is a great place for kids. You should look into moving back.
That was a great video and idea giving it from a child's perspective to give some comfort to those with children letting them know it's possible...Salute..
Absolutely!! Glad you enjoyed it. 💪🏾

Thank you🙌🏾
@8:30 this nearly broke my heart to hear 😢
Kids are so socially aware man even she noticed that people in the US aren't nice.
Which is such a harsh reality and so true 😞
Glad she picked up on that at such a young age.
You dodged a bullet by not raising her here!
God bless 🙏🏽
Very smart girl good luck bendiocones disfruta del país más lindo del mundo
Thank you!
I want to hear her speak Spanish. You should do an interview or have her speak in Spanish to other people and translates to you while going around town. She even has an accent. Amazing she's learned in 2 years.
That would actually be a good spin-off her on your channel speaking Spanish and translating to English interviewing people around town.
Yes they can interview people and she can do the subtitles
This is basically what I was saying and asking. I would like to hear them both interact in the language and demonstrate their Spanish accomplishments/communication which is the most important thing in moving to a spanish speaking country.
Muy bien por Leyha jajaja mi hija se llama igual que ella , Dios la bendiga grandemente, que bueno que ella disfrute de nuestro país como lo esta haciendo, nuestro país es maravilloso y agradable para vivir

Aww! I love this! She’s so sweet. My 5 year old granddaughter came with us last summer to SD. I was there for 2 weeks, they stayed for about a month. She told us that she wants to celebrate her bday in SD in June ❤ She goes to an all Spanish speaking school so all of her subjects as well as aftercare is in Spanish. At home we listen to a lot of Bachata and other Spanish music and we speak to her in Spanish. Kids catch on so fast.
Maria, what percentage of Spanish do you speak? It sounds like you speak a lot.🤔
@@JayAbroad I understand way more than I speak 😂 I would say maybe 40%. In my younger years I was about 70% but lost it over the years. Now I watch a lot of Dominican shows on RUclips and I talk to non-English speaking Dominicans every day so I’m picking it back up quickly
40% sounds about like me. For some reason I thought you spoke more and just being humble about it😂
Your daughter is so cute! Children will adjust easily especially at a young age! Thanks so much for sharing. Your wife and you have done an excellent job with your daughter, I am sure it is easier once you have family as well ❤❤

This was a good video to see. My family and I will be moving to the DR in September (our house is currently being built in PC). We have three sons under the age of 7. My Spanish is probably about 40% (I don’t use it enough), my husband is 0.05%, and my kids are probably about 1%. We’re excited to make the transition for about a year and then make it permanent.
That's awesome. Your kids will definitely enjoy themselves. This is a great country for kids especially Santo Domingo
