    One of the best real life reviews of this lens I’ve seen. Everything you said has been my experience with it too. I just recently purchased it and I was blown away by the images I was getting at its price!

    Recently purchased this and I am using with my Canon 90D. Very impressed with it right out of the box. I've got the USB dock but currently have not even had a desire to fine tune it since my early photo results have been very satisfying.

    I was only able to watch about the first minutes worth of the video but in that time frame, you said that the SIGMA Contemporary 150-600 mm lens shouldn't be compared to the Canon 600 m f/4 lens is absolutely right!!
    You're comparing a tent to a camper van.

    Nice review. Recommend not using music over your VO. Otherwise great use of video showing the camera settings and how they impact usage.

    Really nice review. I boght this lens about a year ago, and I'm very happy with its quality. I see that you mention in your video the USB dock... do you think it is worth buying one?

    • @inyathiproductions
      @inyathiproductions  2 года назад +3

      If you are having back or front focus issues with your particular camera body and lens combination, or you would want to customize the focus and stabilization custom settings specifically for video work, then its an indispensable item to have, but otherwise, it shouldn't be necessary.

    Great to find a good review of this lens in combination with the 90D! I already own the Sigma 70-200 2.8 but the reach is to small for planespotting or wildlife.
    I hope my wife lets me spend money on a lens (again)^^

    No complaints about mine other than the tripod foot should be longer with a Arca Swiss groove (like the Sports) and the switches seem to get accidentally reset in handling. Just replaced the cap with a Nikon one as I don't like the Sigma. Glad I bought it over the Nikon Chinese equivalent and saved money to boot.

      The tripod mount is a bit of a pain but at least it came with a tripod mount unlike some of its competitors. Cant we just all use a standardized tripod mount.....

    I'm hoping to afford one of these later this year, to pair it with my newly acquired R7. But I never thought to get the dock to fine tune the lens settings.

    • @inyathiproductions
      @inyathiproductions  2 года назад +1

      I have also ordered the R7 to replace my 90D so hopefully when it comes I will be able to do a full review using the EF lenses on that camera. Focus with the mirror-less system should always be spot on as it is done through the sensor and the Sigma Dock shouldn't be needed for front and back focus adjustments in that case.

      Ok good to know.
      I had considered the 90D a few years ago, I run the M50 and saw the writing on the wall that the M line was gonna be killed off. The salesperson pitch me to go full frame with the RP, but I didn't quite buy it. The RP wasn't much of an upgrade and I wanted the features of the R6, but could only afford something around the R. When I saw the R7 and what it was capable of at its price range, that was a no brainer.

    Thanks, quite informative video. Couple questions, any experience with the 2x teleconverter? How about lens creep?

    • @inyathiproductions
      @inyathiproductions  2 года назад

      I have not used a converter, 1.4x or 2x. With the 1.6x crop from the Canon 3/4 sensor I figured 960mm eq. would have to do without losing any sharpness. Lens creep is noticeable the hotter the lens gets (used in direct sun etc.), however with the multi point lock on the lens, you can lock the lens in place at various focal lengths.

      @@inyathiproductions Thanks for your quick response. I had a pretty lackluster experience shooting the blood moon last night. And my longest lens is a 300x, which does not get me too close to wildlife. So astrophotography and wildlife photography are the two intended uses for this lens. The sports version would be good for astro since it will be on a tripod, but handholding that beast all day long while hiking will be painful. Thanks again for the video, helped me decide.

      I managed to get the Lunar eclipse early this morning with the 150-600. ruclips.net/video/POAr4FAimF8/видео.html
      For the price, the sports lens did not justify the extra price for me personally. The C lens though for what I shoot (wildlife, kids sports etc.) is just phenomenal.

    I have it also but I hardly use it for wildlife .. Mainly for Sunsets , Aviation , Shipping , Moon and Wildlife when i see something .
    On a clear sunny day it can't be faulted tho recently ive had some AF Issues thus losing out in Captures . Tho it does have issues when the light fades . Bur i gave not yet bought that thingy to customise settings and i use Canon850D

      The Sigma USB dock for me was a must, definitely worth the extra expense to be able to setup and customize your lens with your body.

      Love the lens and it is an indispensable piece of kit in my collection of gear. Bashing may not be the correct term for a gripe about a feature or two not being perfectly suited for my exact needs, but thanks for watching.

      Constructive criticism is always welcome to help me understand stuff better and learn going forward. Pretty much all the footage on this channel has been filmed on said EOS 90D, so, it would be great feedback to find the points I can improve on?
