- Western AF presents "Arkansas Diamond" by Waylon Wyatt
The new generation of Country musicians could easily be marked by impeccably crafted lyrics that stop you in your tracks. Waylon is on to that in a way that few else are, writing with familiarity even to the first time listener.
Waylon and his Dad drove up from Arkansas to meet up with us while we were out in Tulsa a few months back. We wound down backroads and eventually made our way to this parched creek bed on our buddy Bradley’s family land.
We’re sure y’all will be seeing plenty more from Waylon, we sure hope to.

Lyrics:
Call her up in the middle of the morning
5:00 on the dot without a warning
Pouring my heart out into the phone
Half awake and barely asleep
Hours spent listening to her dreams
'Cause hearing that voice makes me feel at home
Well, it's a blessing just to know her name
That sparkle in her eyes can put stars to shame
And it's a wonder if she'll ever think twice
On a wretch like me wouldn't that be nice
Smile brighter than them Arkansas diamonds
Dreams bigger than a Texan's horizon
Lord knows a poor man like me
Would do anything
'Cause your love is what I'm pining
Cut nice polished and shining
A gem like you is hard findings
So I'll keep on digging for this Arkansas diamond
She lives her life wild and free
She'll never know what she means to me
Doesn't have a single clue in the world
She'll forever have my heart
No matter where we are
It'll always belong to you girl
And it's a blessing just to know her touch
Her sweet southern drawl will make you fall in love
And this lady that I hold so dear
Well I'd be nothing without her here
Smile brighter than them Arkansas diamonds
Dreams bigger than a Texan's horizon
Lord knows a poor man like me
Would do anything
'Cause your love is what I'm pining
Cut nice polished and shining
A gem like you is hard findings
So i'll keep on digging for this Arkansas diamond
Keep on digging for this Arkansas diamond

Us country fans are in good hands with this new generation of artists!
Been keeping my eye on this kid since I saw a video of him playing in his High School talent show. Waylon has all the natural instincts and talent of a Country / Folk singer, songwriter, acoustic guitarist. He is starting to blow up like I knew the first time I heard him sing that he eventully would be successful in Music. Way to go Waylon !! I am happy for you Man, and pround of you !🤠
I saw him in Memphis with red clay strays. He did great. I hope he can move away from the Zac sound. I think this song helps
Been on this shit just like Zach and Tyler and colter, he’ll blow up too
I just discovered Colter Wall and I’ve been obsessed with his music. I love Sleeping on the Blacktop and Codeine Dream so much

I like it but I feel like that crying tone is over used these days
I don't want this to come across as hate but lots of these new "country" guys sound so similar. Would like to see some of them with an original sound. Felt like I've heard this song before.
yeah, looks and sounds like a kid doing cosplay. might be cool when he grows up and gets bullied by life a bunch more.
Part of me hates to agree with you, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't. And absolutely, no hate directed towards this kid in particular. I don't think he's bad at all. He can play, he can write a bit, and he's got a nice voice (on top of being a good looking guy, which is always helpful). He's just a kid, so plenty of time/room to improve
With how much access we have to music these days (thanks in large part to channels like this), it is SO hard to differentiate yourself as a musician. Artists that blow you away the first time you hear them are as rare as ever. But many more talented, if unspectacular, artists have more of a platform now than they ever would have had in years past. That's not to say that they're bad or shouldn't be enjoyed and listened to as well. But they do tend to kind of sound the same after a while.
So have you aver listened to music befor?

C, F and G chords with capo on 2nd fret is too darn common in new country music. I still like this song though lol.
