This is why you're the only vr channel I watch. Very unbiased opinion and point out the good and bad. All of the other channels just straight bashed the game.
Thanks for the honest review BP, judging by the weirdness with the trailer release and subsequent withdrawal I think that the dev team wanted it delayed to get it up to scratch but were overuled and made to publish it as was, although I still love the look of this and am looking forward to playing it.
Had a great time with this. Interestingly, I never once had any of the issues you describe with grabbing items from the backpack or the environment, the system worked pretty much flawlessly for me (once I turned OFF eye tracking, that is. That only caused problems, didn't help at all). [EDIT: I have now experienced the bug which renders you incapable of picking up/interacting with objects. Restart fixed it]. I must be much easier to please than many when it comes to graphical fidelity, because I think the game looks absolutely fantastic and loading screens really don't bother me at all. Definitely did have several immersion breaking audio issues, though. This was a real shame, as the spatial audio while walking around the jungle, listening out for dangers, works really well. Hopefully this can be patched very soon. As for the 'ignorance is bliss' aspect ... yeah. I was indeed blissfully ignorant until i went to seek some guidance online. I was really struggling to find enough 'fats' in my diet, so looked up the wiki to see if I was missing something obvious. "Oh, wow! You can cultivate and farm crops! Why does the game not tell you this?" ... well, it doesn't tell you because you can't. Not in this version of the game. That did kinda spoil my enjoyment from that point on, as I was constantly wondering what other useful/fun mechanics were missing from the game. I still feel i've had great value for money with this game overall ... just slightly disappointing knowing what might have been. As always, awesome review. I know you're working your little socks off trying to get all this content out. Hope you realise just how much it is appreciated. Thanks, hon 💖
I’m glad you mentioned the audio. I was walking around in the middle of the night when I first experienced it. Suddenly and abruptly It sounds like jungle noise being blasted through a megaphone then just as quickly as it came it just cuts out. I did really enjoy this game though I hope a patch fixes the few problems it has.
8/10 for me - i am loving this. Yeah ok graphics are not as sharp as Res 8 (More Res 7 / NMS) - but hey this is still almost as realistic as i was hoping for. Ever since minecraft and then "The Forest" - i have wanted a realistic VR Survival game in the jungle exactly like this. This should keep me busy for a while 🙂 !

Great review Bryan, it’s nice to hear a well balanced and thoughtful opinion of the game, it’s got a lot of undeserved hate imo, sure it’s not as polished as we would have liked but I still think it’s got a lot going for it, and hopefully some patches along the way will sort out some of the issues we’re experiencing
Seeing mixed responses to this one so ill porobably circle back to it at some point. Really disappointed at the chosen version for porting though and it might seem silly of me to say but im not down with quest 2 ports anymore.
@MrFartyPants79 ill do the same and not buy last gen software for current gen hardware 😁, considering the early free upgrades from some of the psvr titles we don't need quest 2 ports anymore...
I sat watching this review next to a mossy tree in a wooded area next to a swampy lake, listening to birds and crickets, and seemingly removed from civilisation. It added a certain flavour when listening to you talk about the game because it was like I was sitting in the exact kind of area Green Hell is set in. (Minus the predators) Though I won't be buying. This isn't my thing.
As always with your reviews Bryan "Top Draw". Your able to see what the game does offer. Yes it has a few bugs here and there. But, hopefully with patches this will all be fixed. I'm enjoying myself in the game. It is very immersive. So far the spiders are my nemesis, died loads of times because of them.
Great review man I don’t know why people hated on this so much and I knew it was bad when my second favorite go to vr channel was complaining saying that it looks awful? and it has no legs in the game? And that you had to use a hammer that breaks often to get flowers I just was confused at what he was saying cause it sounded so dumb haha but thanks for your honest review man I haven’t bought the game yet but I think with one nice update for the resolution and bug fixes that game is great not “the worst psvr2 game” lol
I am waiting for your opinions, guys. The best, thanks for this. I love Green Hell and before playing in PSVR2. I played at PS4 and the graphics here are so much bright, clean.
Platinum difficulty will be easy to medium once guides are out and one bugged trophy is fixed ("Got to catch them all" can't currently be obtained as of 08/20/23).
I hate the lack of frame structures, and the lack of mud structures I would love to make a base that feels like something I really made, instead of constructed from a prefab design.
Graphics are fine, reduce the brightness on your VR headset to 50% no Mura, just slight blur in the distance. Graphics are not as bad as people say. You can also adjust your holsters in the menu by grabbing them and moving them around.
Hopefully I'll be able to have a Crossfire review ready for launch (that's the plan anyway). Firewall however will be late since servers aren't going live until launch day.
Yea. It's one of those "not sure if I'll like it" games. Wish there was a demo but oh well. I'll probably wait for a sale. If it drop to $15-$20 I'll probably bite.
I played the flat version on PC, it's a cool game! Can we make a petition for this getting upgraded from this nerfed version? There is NO reason for a smaller map and loading screens (lol) on a PS5 with 16GB ram and a blazing fast SSD. I bought this thinking it was the PC version, which is still getting new stuff with updates - I want that, in VR! Also higher resolution and no reprojection, or turning up the graphics+foveated rendering please please please
From everything we've heard the PC version runs terribly even with high end rigs and isn't well optimized --- so it's starting to make sense why we got the game we got
I noticed that on story everything seems fine except the palm leaves freaking out on the ground But on survival if i go through a loading screen the game seems to freeze, the water doesnt work like i cant swim in it i just walk on the bottom and i cant drink from it, the birds float mid air, and the food doesnt cook and it soft locks me in the game, i was trying to look for a flint but there is literally no big tocks near the airstrip so i was forced to go outside of the airstrip area and use the menu.
💯 I was thinking we’re getting a ps5 version with multiplayer and we got a quest port single player. Can deal with the port version but I was interested for the multiplayer specifically.
I've heard that it hasn't slow walk( joystick tracking) you either walk or stop like a button press. Doesn't that make the game difficult to sneak around? Also heard it walks in the direction you are looking ,cant be turnd off? Just wondering or has there been an update.
The walk speed is decent and of course you can crouch while walking - so sneaking around is easy. Strangely I played 12 hours of Green Hell and the issues you're describing never once bothered me, so they're nothing worth complaining about (well, for me anyway) :D
I think if this version was the entire game, then it would be a decent game. Sadly it is not and there was SO much more left out than a few craftables. Like throwing on the scuba gear and exploring underwater caves, for 1 example. We should not be ok with this, or more so, all the devs that simply port over a mobile version of their game to psvr2. We invested in psvr2 because we wanted to upgrade our headsets AND experience games to their full capabilities on the hardware. If we praise devs for giving us a bare boned, cheap counterpart, then a bare boned, cheap counterpart we will continue to get. This game should of been brought to psvr1, not psvr2. We shouldnt compromise or settle for stuff like this. This may be the game we got, but it is by far the game we deserved.
I got green hell vr Its not bad i have to say It is definitely not the best on graphics with the amount of 2d textures and glitches Like being able to glitch objects from when your high into the normal world 😂 But it is so much fun to play Especially the physics on stuff like sticks and rocks
I was curious to see what you’d say about this after seeing another “popular” VR channel throw an absolute fit about it lol. I don’t really watch any other VR channels, just happened to catch that one video. I hate when people decide they don’t like something and then can’t get past that biased opinion to make an honest review of something. Of you don’t like it, that’s fair, and you can definitely share that opinion, but if you’re reviewing a product I feel like you gotta be able to at least be somewhat unbiased and be able to point out the pros and cons. This game isn’t for me as I’m not really into these survival type games but I won’t believe that there’s NOTHING good about this game cuz one guy threw a fit about it 😂
Does the VR version have the same walk in the park difficulty option where sanity and the tribes are turned off? I love the game but Im horrible at it and would hate to buy the game and find out it doesn’t have it
Yep. Walk in the Park difficulty ignores the sanity statistic. It's not really relevant on 'normal' difficulty anyway, though. I completed the campaign without my sanity ever dropping lower than about 90% and I only ever encountered tribesmen in one scripted section in the entire playthrough (and they were easily avoided, just walked straight past them).
Normally these elements in games are what attract me. I loved the hunting sections of both Tomb raider and far cry. But this being more like the quest version and not open world like the pcvr version bugs me and doesn't bode well for psvr2 in general, possibly revealing limitations. Plus from what I hear they overdid the survival elements making them a slog by constantly having to worry about eating and drinking.
Green hell is the kind of game that you both love and hate at the same time. It's a very hard game and you will die a few times before understanding what you should have done. I agree regarding the not great ending, I was surprised that's it. Overall though it is a good game.
For me the graphics in this game are good but the blurring is not acceptable on psvr2 hardware. I wish the game was as clear as Song in the smoke and I hope they will improve it. this must be fixed, because drinking water with your hands is a real torture or using a walkie-talkie with your hand, when you try to press the button on the walkie-talkie with your finger, you hit the controller with the controller. And the icing on the cake in this matter is shooting from a bow from in the form as it is made, it is impossible to shoot! On VR I always choose smooth movement but here it is too slow and you can't speed it up, why is this option in practically every vr game? Of course there are even more problems in this game (like how to build a fire and light it, you know anyone?) but these are in the first order to improve.
It's funny, Myles mentioned the whole "drinking water out of your hands" thing to me last night and I honestly didn't even know you could do that. I just popped open a coconut and used it as a bowl right from the beginning. The walking speed wasn't a problem for me -- survival games play different than FPSes and walking slow/managing your stamina is all part of the game
Yes, the bow shooting is awful. So much so that I don't even bother carrying a bow any more. I carry three spears on my back pack, far more accurate and easy to use.
My objectives stopped updating after having my second ayuhuasca Do you know what i have to do or where to go The only objective i have is "find help" so lol
Is that the area with the Stonehenge-like camp? If so, then continue on up the hill opposite from where you entered and follow the path (across the water etc). The map never opens up too much so you should be able to push forward until you see the next landmark.
This game is way overhated in my opinion. Yes the graphics are pretty blurry and the whole entire game is pretty much a port from the quest 2 version but it’s still really fun and challenging. I definitely recommend playing this game even if you already played the quest 2 version
Yeah I was shocked to see all the negativity at launch. Green Hell isn't perfect but I had a lot of fun with it. Hopefully Incuvo can polish it up a bit and make it one of PSVR2's "must have" titles :D
@RuthlessMetalYT Can't really compare PS5 visuals to PSVR2. If you do that no game on PSVR2 will impress you. Even top tier AAA PSVR2 games have some bluring (GT7, Horizon, Village) . Expectations are different between to two platforms. I certainly have expectations when it comes to VR2 but you have to be realistic at the same time.
@@RuthlessMetalYTexactly. I think the fanboys tend to be too forgiving with the PSVR2. I enjoy it for what it is but it definitely has some downsides they don’t like to talk about. Most of the games are quest ports that don’t look great and last maybe 3 hours tops
@@Brasslantern007nah runs smooth with no crashes on my 3080ti, looks gorgeous minus the crappy rain effect. Wasn‘t there some hype going on for a while ‚psvr2 plus ps5 equal a 3090 because you can optimize for just one specific platform and got the forveated rendering for better res on top‘?
The part about it not making sense having the loading screens is purely becuase they HAVE just been lazy and ported the quest version so its just doing the game exactly how it works on quest. 100% it shouldnt be they also shouldnt of just ported the quest version lol. You also have no legs to check because its the Quest port where as the pc you have legs and can get insects on them etc. Poor money grab by the devs
I've come to the realization that survival games are not for me. once I figure out the core mechanic. it just becomes repetitive (grindy) and boring. the building aspect of some of games is kind of cool. but I need a story to pull me through the repetitiveness of most games.
Every day I hear "How aren't people tired of horror games" or "how aren't people tired of FPSes" or "why would anyone buy a multiplayer-only game".... I'm just shocked that everyone expects their favorite thing to be everyone else's favorite thing. You gotta love how far gaming has come that there are a seemingly infinite number of genres and sub-genres out there - and a fanbase for each of them! :D
@@WithoutParole I get what you are saying. And in general I agree with you. In this case though I am right and everyone who disagrees with me is wrong :)
Yo, i just bought this day ago, playing this ON hardest difficulty level, framerate drops like shit when u nearby bunch of ppl, enemies or villagers, etc... Game has a good ideas but why this facking fps drops down...besides game crushed few times...anoying shit💩
Yeah the updates have been rough. It's sharper than it was when I reviewed it but now it has crazy framerate problems - which wasn't a good tradeoff imo. Hopefully they can fix it soon!
Oh man, sorry to hear you didn't know what you were getting into. It was a huge conversation here on the channel leading up to launch. But by all accounts it doesn't sound like the PCVR version runs well at all even on powerful rigs - which kind of explains why we got what we got
@WithoutParole gutted I missed the convo, usually I do use your advice. I think it's more a case of with horizon/village/after the fall, it showed(mainly horizon) how good vr can be....then we got that. Its pretty half arsed to say the least and the pc version you csn do so much more.
@@WithoutParoleI like how you are defending this version and enjoyed the review, but a lot of people including me had a great time with the pcvr version. There is a reason Psvr2 owners are longing for it. The open world contributes so much to the feeling of being totally lost and makes discoveries even more rewarding. With enough work put into it this could have been the ultimate version of the game. Just a bit sad but you nail it with your intro.

The game is very hard to navigate around sometimes
This game is way overhated in my opinion. Yes the graphics are pretty blurry and the whole entire game is pretty much a port from the quest 2 version but it’s still really fun and challenging. I definitely recommend playing this game even if you already played the quest 2 version
Yeah I was shocked to see all the negativity at launch. Green Hell isn't perfect but I had a lot of fun with it. Hopefully Incuvo can polish it up a bit and make it one of PSVR2's "must have" titles :D
Come on have some standards. would we accept a blurry ps5 game? no, we shouldn't do that here either. we need bigger and better titles.
Quest version means it doesn't support the happtic feedback??
"Quest version" meaning it has the content of the quest version. It has decent haptics
So it's kinda like stranded deep. Hmmmm.
Probably doesnt include the free prequal dlc called spirits of amazonia that flat verion had huh?
Wasn't that just announced last month along with multiplayer? I could be wrong but I don't think that DLC is out for any platform yet.
@@WithoutParole part 3 of it came out in December of last year i believe
It really sucks that we got the quest version cause the PlayStation can handle way more
For sure but the PC can't even handle the PCVR version, so it might have been a struggle to get it running on a PS5 unfortunately
Most anticipated and controversial review. Let's go.
This looks like a pain. Gimmie Way Of The Hunter vr. Make it THq
Poor money grab by the devs
i want the pc version.... i want the bigger map
It’s 2024. Did they update the game?
Yup with DLC and improved resolution. The framerate is horrible in some places now though so it's not perfect...
I've come to the realization that survival games are not for me.
once I figure out the core mechanic. it just becomes repetitive (grindy) and boring. the building aspect of some of games is kind of cool. but I need a story to pull me through the repetitiveness of most games.
But this (only played pcvr version) and The Forest have great stories imho
How is everyone not TIRED of crafting games. Don't know how people enjoy it
Every day I hear "How aren't people tired of horror games" or "how aren't people tired of FPSes" or "why would anyone buy a multiplayer-only game"....
Lol love it
Buena review, lo justo es lo correcto xD.
Did this ever get an update?
Yup but just some minor improvements. Still waiting for the resolution patch unfortunately
@@WithoutParole bummer
It's currently on sale here in the UK for £14. Is it worth it for this price and hope they iron out the issues?
Yo, i just bought this day ago, playing this ON hardest difficulty level, framerate drops like shit when u nearby bunch of ppl, enemies or villagers, etc... Game has a good ideas but why this facking fps drops down...besides game crushed few times...anoying shit💩
Yeah the updates have been rough. It's sharper than it was when I reviewed it but now it has crazy framerate problems - which wasn't a good tradeoff imo. Hopefully they can fix it soon!
Thx, all hope in update, anyway main game works good, even my lady tried that few hours, lololo
I brought this day 1 on psvr2.. was gutted it was the quest version. Such a let down.
@@WithoutParolewho knows they might pull a no man’s sky and make it stunning, might take more than that tho
I’ll stick to my quest 2 version
Great review but this game is not for me!
It was pretty janky
