Now we just need a Star Wars: Squadrons Enhanced Edition.
I had a very difficult time getting used to flying. You have to admit it was boardline playable. Low Rez backgrounds
@@kringekevthegamekat7239 Playing it on PSVR1 on PS5 was a night and day difference, even compared to playing it on PS4 Pro. Would love a PSVR2 port.
You're tearing through these reviews, Bryan. We know this isn't easy, but you make it look like it is. That's your skill, and why this will always be the go-to channel for PSVR2. Thanks so much. And yes, you've twisted my arm on this game. : )
I
you are the most reliable source for reviews Brian keep it up❤
I loved playing this game… just hoping that Star Wars Squadrons comes to PSVR2 as well.
The only downer for me with this game is that they tease the area you can visit “for real” in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida but you can’t walk around that area.
I had soooo much fun with this game. All my childhood dreams came true.10/10 in my book.
1:53 - Rebel Assault II reference FTW. This was the very first game I bought for my PS1 way back when. 👍🏿
Having finished Horizon, Village and getting well into GT7, I've been wanting the next big launch title to tackle and it sounds like this is it. I'm having so much more fun than I ever had on PSVR. The games just keep delivering. Has Separation been mentioned as an upgrade at all?
I’ve got my psvr 2 coming on Tuesday. Is it a massive upgrade from the 1st?
If I remember right the original Quest2 version had no free locomotion, the game was designed for teleportation and they added the free walk after getting beat up over the teleportation only hence the weird no jump, no climbing ascetic.. Great review!
Thanks for your review! :) And wow, that's quite a recommendation from a credible source! And, it's good to think you're enjoying yourself amidst this workload you have on your hands, including this pleasant surprise.
I got more games than I can get around to (even PSVR2) for a while, so I'll still probably catch this when it goes on sale anyway. This is the only game involving shooting on PSVR2 that I don't have (I think) and I'm a *SUCKER* for a shooter in VR, so I'll be excited to check this out when I can.
Excellent review video, Bryan 👏. The demo of this game was the first thing I played on PSVR2, so I had my “Bryan playing GT7 in VR for the first time” with Star Wars, lol. It’ll hold a special place in my memory.
I’ll definitely pick this up when it goes on sale! I believe it’s still the most expensive VR title (other than GT7, although you can find cheap physical copies of that).
I was told by a Quest 2 user to “not bother” and it’s “underwhelming “ but I okayed the demo and was wowed. I bought it straight away and it’s the game I’ve played the most on PSVR2 so far! Solid review 👍
The Quest 2 version isn't as polished as the PSVR2 version. This isn't just an HD port, it is substantially improved, like full remakes taking full advantage of improved hardware and unique features like eye tracking for foveated rendering and haptic feedback and resistive triggers on the controllers.
I am not a big Star Wars fan but I played the demo and was surprised at how good it was. I definitely learned a lot watching this review as there are many things not explained at all in the demo and I did not figure them out. I will probably wait for a sale but this is going on my list!
I agree! N that price is alil steep!! I'm waiting also👍
is it ever on sale? it seems super expensive @@natecharleston64
@@natecharleston64 I don't know if you guys waited this long, but the current sale (66% off) looks like a good price... Probably a May the 4th thing, I'm guessing?
I agree. HUGE Star Wars fan and I've been wanting to play this every since it was first announced for the Quest and I'm so happy they released it for PSVR2. It took me a long while to get use to the new controllers, but now since I've got them dialed in they feel like an extension of my own hand and now I'm thoroughly enjoying the games I purchased, such as Horizon (love love love this game), Tales from the Galaxy's Edge and Before the Fall. I've already beaten this game and completed all of the missions (besides the Jedi ones) and now I'm going back to playing it. Thanks for the review and posting this video.
I loved the demo and have it on my wish list. It's just a little bit too expensive. I hope for a sale but might get it even for the full price soon. Great review.
On sale rn
Great, definitely will pick this one up sometime on a sale.
I don't really hear anyone talking about it but i feel one of the big games we are missing on PSVR2 is Star Wars Squadrons. I don't think there are plans for an upgrade (yet) am i right?
Real shame....
The quality of the social screen output is so good now! I feel like, with PS VR1 reviews, you always had to qualify the footage to explain the tight crop and low quality. I don't even think that's necessary anymore.
this makes sense after I get the demo I decided I definitely want to buy it... But not for the price that it currently has.. so I put it on my wish list and I'll wait for a discount hopefully soon
I love the more detailed breakdown at the end, especially recommended sale price
Great review!! I need to check this one out.
Another great review Bryan. I've had my eye on this being a huge Star Wars fan. I will be adding this one to my collection now. Keep up the awesome work and look forward to seeing more of your reviews
I rarely finish games, but most of the time get bored and stop playing almost before the main part of the game starts. (Including call of the mountain and resident evil to the PSVR2) This game, I finished in a few days and got bummed when it ended so quickly.
Great Review. I am sure that a lot of people will decide on the game based on your review. I have played through the quest version, including all DLC, and the demo for PSVR2 so that is enough for me for now. Maybe at around $25, I would pick it up again to play the full PSVR2 version or if they add another piece of DLC.
I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the demo. If it gets on sale I will definitely get it.
When I hear almost every person say 'I'll pick it up in a sale' it concerns me that devs will do the same this vr gen as last and therell be no AA-AAA games being made after a while as no one seems willing to pay full price for anything?
They stopped making AAA games on the last VR gen because they started making them for this generation…
This an excellent implementation of Star Wars for vr. Even though the ai is really not that good. There are moments when gun fighting can be challenging or requires a well placed blaster shot or thrown detonator. There just a lot of options on how to approach an encounter. What really sets this game a part for me is the wonderful humor and Banter you’d expect from a well told and genuinely fun SW experience. It perfectly balances that light with the dark aspects of the SW universe and Lore. And gives you some wonderful voice acting, great narration and some surprise guests appear. Just makes the. Game every Star Wars fans dream come true. I love the crisp look and feel of the gear, your hand has untility from health kits to holographic projections from quest givers. The details are crisp and gorgeous up close. There some things that bug. Like some texture maps are just not great. Like printed leaves on the ground. When it’s soo obvious that it’s a print. I wish there was more emersive and realist fauna when your moving through the terrain. Seems like a non sequitur. But little details like that in VR create greater emersion. Small gripes. But worth it? Resounding hell yes!!
The clear image on PSVR2 really stands out for this game 🤩
Loving the content. You do a great service for the PSVR2 community!
Shout out to the ones left behind on psvr 1 myself included. One day when the ps5 and psvr2 are half price and all games are 15 dollars, that will be our day. They who laugh last laugh the hardest
I really do hope we eventually get a full fledged Star Wars VR game in which we play as a force user, wielding lightsabers. I also would love to see a Spiderman VR game. And for the life of me I don't know why Batman Arkham Shadow will be exclusive to the Meta Quest. There is still untapped potential with VR in terms of Stories and Concepts.
I'm really starting to want to play this, as I get deeper into the catalog
Man, I'm almost pulling the trigger and buying a PSVR2. It looks awesome.
Do it! I just did lol
I loved this game on my psvr2 and i think you are correct a new open world game would be amazing
You and your old school platinum trophy 😆
But yeah you definitely made me more excited for this one. I’ll make space for it in my backlog eventually…
Bryan I have an issue man, I’m at the C3PO mission but the game glitches and I can’t pass the first door (w the red button) any help?
Great review Bryan, as always! As a Star Wars fan i just might have to pull the haptic trigger on this one.
When you start the game and the bartender talks, the letters are readable, but it seems like they are smudged a bit, do you guys have that too? Or when you click record, it's a bit blurry if you've recorded a clip (the time is very difficult to read), for the rest there is no blur and the screen looks amazing
Go Go Gadget legs LOL. Exactly how it feels
I put this on my list. Hoping there is a PSVR bundle around the holidays.
Great review! I tried the demo and I enjoyed it a lot.
Just wish the teleportation thing wasn't as clunky / necessary. Will probably get this one when the physical version releases!
What's clunky about it you literally pull down on the joystick… oh and by the way the amount of times you need to use it in the game is minimal compared to the way you guys are bitching about it as if the entire game is teleportation.
But please you guys should all go off about how it's immersion breaking compared to pressing a button that makes you "jump"…
@@evilsWa change those pants and grab a snack old man. It's someone's opinion, he didn't kill your imaginary girlfriend.
I'd be interested to see Vader Immortal on PSVR 2
They need to make a proper clones wars multiplayer VR game (kind of like battlefront 2) where we play as clones in a squad flying in on gunships, riding on AT-RT, piloting tanks, and occasionally jumping in the shoes of a Jedi. So basically battlefront 2 in VR but more fleshed out specifically for clone wars
Hi how did you get th ehead set view so clear and sharp, ive done everything there is said on RUclips but picture is still blurry with the head set. Thanks
Check your eyes. I don't wear glasses irl but a VERY small prescription can make a world of difference. My VR Lenses make everything crystal clear
I wasn't expecting much from this game, but it is great. Especially the image clarity is impressive. To be honest I would prefer other PSVR 2 games to go similar route - simpler geometry and effects, but higher resolution. I can't stand low res in VR. NMS on PSVR 2 was a big let down for me in this regard.
No mans sky is low res because it's not using foveated rendering.
Nms is a rushed low effort port
@@3adir_ they might improve though, no man's sky VR on PC was really shit at first too but now it's pretty ok (still a boring game though XD)
The Force is with this review.
I wish with you could have presets for brightness, rather than having to go to settings and adjust it
The demo was cool, though I felt like it didn't explain some things. I saw icons on items in the environments that I had no clue what they meant or what I needed to interact with them. Maybe it's stuff that you only get access to the deeper you get (the demo ends quick). I'll probably grab it on sale at some point down the line.
Probably icons for the different modes of your multitool, which is holstered below your inventory.
Almost finished this little gem now ❤it's actually been a blast, random need for teleprt is very annoying, getting stuck on scenery pretty annoying too but apart form that I've really enjoyed it. 😊
I've always enjoyed Star Wars, so this will have to be an investment. Thank you for the great review Bryan!
Honestly this was a day one release that I think most people who have never played it before completely slept on. Yes I got Gran Turismo Resident Evil day 1 but this should have been on everybody's list also.
Any word on squadrons coming to vr2? I miss it.
Picked it up and I am loving it!
I played the demo and now want the game even more after your review.
Thanks Bryan!! Can’t wait for your switchback and RE Village review
Wish this was on steam so I could play. Looks really good
had a blast with the demo. I will certainly be picking this up, but there's just so much to play right now and I'm trying my best not to create a backlog!
If you can wait a bit, this game is getting a physical release for 37 Euros in April. That's next month.
Same here. This game surprised me and is a pretty damn good time
If the camera turned better that would definitely help
Hey Tony! What camera?
Cool - looks awesome! Defo will be getting this soon! It’s great we are now getting away from “experiences” (2 hours) to “short adventure games” (10-15 hours). That’s a fun enough length for a game anyway - I’ve grown tired of like God of war size games, I’m 30 hours in, half wayish, and just can’t face another 30 hours of the same thing…!
Just mainline the story and enough parts to keep you moving through the levels, can't see it being longer than 30hours if you play like that?
How do you reduce brightness by 50%?
Double tap the PS button on a sense controller when you're in the game. It'll being up a sub menu where you can adjust the IPD, lower the screen brightness, etc
nice work hombre
I'm hoping more games implement touch grip for the controllers rather than hold grip. I don't think star wars does, but RE:Village does.
I find the grip buttons feel a bit too much like you're holding in buttons to grip, but they have capacitors in the button so touch grip makes way more sense imo.
You can select to toggle the grip instead if holding the buttons in the options.
just passing by cause of the discount right now. lol. might have to pick it up now.
Is this getting a retail release?
Nice review, Bryan. Good to hear that the game is better than thought beforehand, both in length and gameplay wise.
However, I did play the demo and that felt pretty janky and was poor in explaining things... So is the difference with the real game that much?
the movement is janky, your movement seems to be based on not only your analog inputs, but also on the way your holding the controller for some bizarre reason, so you have 2 inputs doing battle with each other unless your holding your controllers a certain way. I am very confused why they designed it this way
I have no idea what the fuck Brandon is talking about
The (only) good thing about not being able to afford a PSVR2 at launch is that by the time I've saved up, there will be an awesome without parole review for all the games! 🙂
Aw thanks! And hopefully all of the games will be cheaper / on sale when you get your headset! :D
I’m so on this when it’s on sale.
This is on sale in the store (uk) for 12 quid (15 usd) worth the money? Some people are saying about the shooting being weak?...
I have the same doubt
definitely worth the money, i loved the shooting
(nvm, just realized you already have my opinion since you left this comment on my review lol)
Vader immortal would be better if it wasnt so short. The main reaspn i say thay was because of you're force powers and lightsaber battles. I dont see why there hasnt been a jedi vr game made yet for any vr system besides vader immortal. I heard you can unlock a short lighsaber part in this though
I've been trying to save money. So after buying the headset...and new headphones...and a new wheel....and a new internet booster I was left with little money to buy any games. This is definitely going to be my next buy. If my wife asks, I will blame you. Also, thanks.
Will buy when it goes down to 30ish cad.
Thank you. When people were saying Vader Immortal was better than this I thought I slipped into the twilight zone or something - I just don't understand how anyone can think that. The only thing about this game that I didnt enjoy were the weird teleportation areas you called out. They really should have had a jump/boost button and/or some basic climbing mechanics like Horizon.
Great game! Great review!
This is great news. I too had extremely low expectations for this game, but I downloaded the free demo because why not?
I was really impressed with the visuals and the gameplay. Delighted to hear that your experience with the full game was really positive, and I will definitely be buying this ... the moment it goes on sale for at least 25% off, lol.
Vader Immortal was sold as a VR series, so any comparison with a game is unfair.
I might have to get this game. I do enjoy Star Wars anyway.
I tried this game very recently and just could not get into it. It does not feel good to shoot in this game, for some reason. Didn't like that the weapons had both limited ammo on top of overheating. I saw there were some upgrades to mitigate this, but I didn't even reach the point where I could pay for the upgrades. I don't know, I just feel like I lost my patience with the game, since I was expecting more from it.
Looks like a solid game.. I’ll wait for it to drop down in price though
Great review. Completely agree that they should add jump and non-teleporting jetpacks in whatever Star Wars game is made next. Games like Song in the Smoke: Rekindled and Pavlov Predator Mode demonstrate that once the VR headset framerates are sufficiently increased (like on PSVR2), you can let players do real-time jumping around in VR and it won't necessarily make players uncomfortable or sick similar to how even walking / turning could induce that when the VR headset framerates were too low (like on OG PSVR).
This is the same realization that James Cameron made in his research into making Avatar movies 3D. He & team developed the technology to film at higher framerates and then those movies are shown in theaters at higher framerates, and that directly contributes to audiences finding the 3D used in Avatar movies more comfortable and immersive than other 3D movies especially before and in many cases even since because most other movies continue to shoot at lower / traditional 24 frames.
Oh. My. God.
This game looks BEAUTIFUL! the clarity and sense of a solid world, wow.
I looked up at my gun while holding it against the blue sky above me, it fuckin looked REAL. Madness.
I was, of course, very, very stoned at the time. Always helps. :)
Hitting it out of the park with these reviews Bryan, having played it on quest I wasn’t going to pick it up on PSVR 2, however curiosity got the better of me, and I’m glad it did
I loved Vader immortal, but agree in many ways this is the better title of the two
It always makes me chuckle when I hear the length if games being mentioned, as i always seem to take far longer to complete titles, than the expected time frame, guess thats the explorer in me, I examine every nook and cranny lol
It would have been nice if they have added some x-wing space battles :)
I really enjoyed the demo for this, I'm just waiting for it to go on sale. $50 is a little steep for almost any VR title IMO.
I'm in the same boat. Looks great, just can't commit to that pricetag
Why VR2 does not look as good as this video. I mean the graphics are a lil blurry at distance. Am I doing something wrong with my VR2?
Im enjoying the game but Im really confused about the way they made they designed the movement, it seems like it is based on not only your analog inputs, but also the way you hold the controller, its like a hybrid of the move and sense controllers, not quite the hybrid I was hoping for. I cant understand why they designed it this way. If you are holding your controllers up it doesn't seem to be so bad, but I dont want to hold my hands up the whole time, plus you have to grab stuff off your belt or whatever in combat which will cause you to move erratically.
Hey Brandon, check your settings. I can't remember which one I changed (they're always named the dumbest things) but one of them did the trick! :D
@@WithoutParole thanks Bryan, Ill take another look at the settings!
@@WithoutParole ok, you have to turn on system orientated steering, with the description "hold down the options button to set forward" uhuh that makes sense... anyway, thanks a lot! this should have been the default
Glad the rumours about Vader immortal was inaccurate. worth it for me for Stars Wars Aspect alone.
I don't like screens blurry But near I like this game
Thank you! Yes, Galaxy's Edge is a pretty good game. Vader Immortal is a pretty good VR experience at best... i would never call it an actual game. I've very tempted to get Galaxy's on PSVR2 (have it on Quest) to see how well the haptic enhances the experience.
There are more Quest jams that need to be ported to psvr 2 like Asgard wrath , Defector and Medal of Honor
I played the demo and I have to save that the maps are too linear. Pretty much going from point A to point B on a single path. I'll wait until there's a big sale on it.
Ahhh like Farpoint. Yeah I hate that too. Tales is a little better in that regard though because the jetpack upgrades open up new paths here and there but I agree it can still feel linear.
Its getting better i have buy call of the mountain horizon. And kajak mirage. I am looking forword to even better games
So, would you say it's priced right?
If only there was some way to find out what I thought about this...
*cough*
@@WithoutParole I sense you'd say like... 10 bucks less! Yes, I know, I'm a mind reader!
Playing this game on the quest to to me it just felt so empty and got boring fast…. How does this version compare?
Read some of the comments here - they all seem to agree that the PSVR2 version is a massive step up! :D
Wish i wouldnt get sick in like 5 min while playing VR
I was 100000% sure $50 was a rip off after playing it on quest2 and QuestPro, but after playing the demo I realized just how much the improved haptics, FOV, and visuals enhance the experience. I’m absolutely loving it and it makes me wish even more that they went with a permanent weapon inventory like all the best FPS games and allow us to upgrade each of them with unique improvements instead of forcing u to keep swapping out with enemy dropped blasters as they run dry and having the few weapon upgrades available apply to all blasters you pick up. Even once you upgrade to the belt that refills weapons, the blasters still feel like they were just picked up off the ground and you could just get another 1 around the corner. In a game like this it would have been so fun to gradually find new unique blasters throughout our journey that work and feel very different in different situations. There were pretty much 3 different kinds of blasters, pistol, auto-rifle, and shotgun with 2 nearly identical variations of everything but the shotgun having 1. Making them not only disposable and removing that connection you have with your weapons was a massive misstep and would’ve made the game truly special, ESPECIALLY with how incredible it feels to shoot these things! I also hope SWGE and every other PSVR2 shooter updates to use the RE8 touch sensor grip. It was so nice to be able to stop pressing the grip button but maintain the grip by keeping your finger on the button. The sticky grip is okay until you have to throw something like a grenade…
Ok I've tried looking it up, but I ended up no where.... What does VRAF mean??? Virtual Reality As F***?
You got it! It's a term we coined and have been using ever since Shadow Legend VR - generally meaning that the developer took the time to make all the interactions in their game as interactive as possible. A great example is your inventory being a literal backpack that you grab off your back (as seen in Saints and Sinners) :D
Its a shame that teleport is still being used so much, when jump could get us there- but I suppose it’s a way to keep the player boxed into the tunnel they’ve to walk through- so the developers don’t have to create multiple scenarios of players jumping off cliffs to see if they can break the game! Is it either this or more invisible walls? But damn yeah teleport is very immersion breaking..
You can jump in this game... you have a jetpack
Why are the graphics so jaggy? This looks like a VR1 game or a Quest 2 game at best. Looks like its running at 720p. I hate when people hype up these games like no tomorrow
The fact that you're saying all these things when we're literally watching the social output… Which is the view that comes through the television not through the VR headset… Tells us everything we need to know about your stupid fucking opinion.
it's basically a remake of a quest 2 game so the graphics won't be as good as actual PSVR2 games like Horizon or PCVR ports like Pavlov
I tried the demo and had to switch back to teleport movement so I didn't 🤮
FIFTYYYYY DOLLARS
Just wish it wasnt based on the terrible episode 7-9 movies.......
Tried the demo and it was suprisingly well made
