Hi ! Honest review here. I haved in 2022 to avril 2024 the rx6600xt and I was really in love with this GPU, perfect for 1080p60 ultra gaming on PC, sometimes you can push to 1440p60 high with FSR, it work great, ultra very hyper efficient with undervolting and underclocking (I never see a GPU more efficient than this 6600xt ! Really amazing ! Consume less than the 6600 for better performance with UV/UD ! I recommand it !) ... if prices difference is not big : GO TO RX6600XT (or his refresh rx6650xt !). The right choice for 1080p60 ultra gaming today. (But rx6600 at 200 euro or less in second market can be a great deal too for budget PC gaming, better than a old GTX1060 or something like that ! The rx6600 can be compare to GTX1080/1080TI but with a consumption cut by twice or more !). Now I play on the incredible rx6800 ! The queen of the rx6000 Amd's series ! Today his prices for his performance are so great ! The real big deal today is the rx6800 for serious gaming on PC for under 400 euro ! Just amazing ! This card made a better job than newest gpu like 4060TI or 7700xt !
I think this is the card I'll get to upgrade my sons PC from the RX480 which has been great but I'll probably use that in another basic build now. Thinking of pairing the RX 6600 with a Ryzen 5 5500 for a balance of budget and performance (he only really needs 1080P for now, doesn't have a monitor that can do more than that at 60Hz). The only thing I'm still considering is that my son wants to also potentially stream and record RUclips vids of him gaming, so i was also considering a NVidia 3050 or 3060 so he can use the NVENC chip to handle the streaming/encoding part , but interested to get your view on that.

I bit the bullet today on a 7500F + RX6600 combo as an early christmas upgrade for one of my lads. He still uses a i5-6600k + GTX970 setup and it's really showing its age, even at 1080p. I'm pretty confident I made a good value purchasing decision and that he'll be delighted.
The brand doesn't usually matter at this level tbh. XFX and Sapphire make some of the best AMD cards. For Nvidia it used to be EVGA but they have gone now. Anything from any of the big brands will work about the same though.
Thing is in 2024, Nvidia 3060 and 4060 pricing is ridiculous and even though when launched the 6600 got a bad review, today, all things considered, it is an okay card.
Did a bunch of reasearched on what GPU that I really want lol, wanted a color white RTX 4060 to match my case but I'm limited on my budget, so a black one would be fine --- currently I have CPU Ryzen 3 4100 and GPU GTX 1650 4GB, question... I'm planning to upgrade my GPU first then my CPU but what Ryzen 5 series/model do you recommend for this RX 6600 GPU?
@TechLabUK Just recently purchased a brand new GPU ASUS Dual RX 6600 8GB V3 and now just saving up for my CPU upgrade. Did a few researched again and as you mentioned the Ryzen 5 5600 / 5600X would be the perfect pair for the RX 6600 8GB but my concern now would be... is it compatible to my current motherboard Gigabyte B450M DS3H, the BIOS version is F61 and as I mentioned in my previous comment that I currently have a CPU Ryzen 3 4100. Looking forward for your response. Thanks! :)
bought the msi armored version for used $230 (gpus are double the price in here) and i still have an i7 3770 but this gpu's a massive beast for 1080p gaming .will upgrade cpu next month :)
I love this card's design. I think Nvidia 3000 series and AMD 6000 series lineups had better looking non-reference models than current gen. A lot of motherboards too...
i got a MSI rx6600xt 2 years ago during the height of the expensive GPU times. paid $880 aud (over 500$ usd). Still excellent value despite this. works great with my ryzen 5600x. it maxes doom 2016 @ 170FPS 1440p
The 6000 series lineup was really solid. I don't know what happened with the 7000 series, but it felt a bit underwhelming. The RX 7800 and up were good value, but the lower you went down, the more it makes you want to stick to last gen. It's like they copied Nvidia's strategy on funneling the most performance increases on the top end and leaving out too little for too much on the lower tiers.
Video comments are not really ideal for walking through upgrade options. If you have Discord join our server (Link in all video descriptions) and there's a lot of people there who can help.
This is a card I'm looking at for my next build. My focus is more on emulation than modern gaming and I want something that can handle at least up till the 6th or 7th gen..
mine is Asrock Challenger D, bought after proof of work mining ended at that time the first gpu to went down in price compared to other brands, including the same 6600s even the 3050 was more expensive than the most expensive 6600
Seems a big jump in price tbh, is that the 16GB 7600xt? If so might be worth it but if not would be worth also looking at a 6700Xt 12GB. Still great cards and much faster.
We have to be honest, for the new generation of games it is no longer recommended. I have this card and it is the first one I bought, I am very happy with it because I can finally play the video games from past generations that I always wanted to play, because back then I didn't have money for consoles, much less for a computer. So if anyone reads this comment and identifies with my situation, I highly recommend this card.
It's fine with new games, true it does rely on FSR to get high FPS experiences but it holds its own for the price. I would probably recommend people looking at the latest games though to go for at least an RX 6700XT or something though.
Everyone considers every card differently tbh. There are no specific rules to it all which is why I find it strange when people say "This is a 1080p or 1440p card"... Based on what? What frame frames? What settings? What games? and How many games? I personally consider cards like this as 1440p cards as you can easily get 60FPS in 98% of games made but a lot of people watching would kick the crap out of me for saying it lol
I have a 5600G and using the same for around a couple of years, and now I want to pair RX 6600 with it. Do you think it can run GTA VI once it arrives? I know it's hard to predict, but if you have to guess!
As you say It's hard to guess because no one knows anything about the game. If I was to guess, I would suspect it will play the game but what performance you will get, no idea.
@@TechLabUK Yeah that's the thing. Although I am not willing to spend a very high amount on a GPU, irrespective of when I am installing. A 6600 or a 3060 is something I am willing to go, and with these GPUs, I don't have to change my 550W PSU either.
In my country the cheapest one is around 230 USD, so I got a Soyo rx6600m (chinese brand) at just 150 (christmas sale of 2023), flashed it to a normal rx6600 and it performs amazing 😎 it's perfect for what I need.. much better than the gtx 1650 I bought for 340 USD back in 2021 🤡

I've always liked the RX 6600 personally, always reasonably priced and outperformed the Nvidia RTX 3050 rival by some way too
It's performing almost at same lvl of 3060 with low price even than 3050. Had both cards now own 7900xtx and 4070.
Is gigabyte 3 fan version good of rx6600 cause here in India it is for same price as the asus and asrock one
Just won this on an auction on Tradera this Friday.
The only thing I'm still considering is that my son wants to also potentially stream and record RUclips vids of him gaming, so i was also considering a NVidia 3050 or 3060 so he can use the NVENC chip to handle the streaming/encoding part , but interested to get your view on that.
im also using rx480 right now from 2016 hahah still considering this card 😅
I'm thinking of buying this today the asus version, how it'll pair up with amd ryzen 5 3600x ?
@@thewebdev8928 Would pair fine.

I can remember getting Dead Island 2 and The Callisto Protocol when buying this one. It was a good day.
why on msi afterburner is written gpu power 100watt like max watt and card is 132 W?
Just picked up the itx version for 160 for my 2nd daughters build. Not sure if to pair with AM5 ( i have spare DDR5 RAM) or AM4 like my older daughter has with 7600.

Is this card a good upgrade for Ryzen 5 5600g to play games?
If you mean is it an upgrade from the built in graphics on the 5600G then yes, a huge upgrade.

@@JasonDevadason actually R5 5600G or 5500 is the sweet spot of this gpu with no bottleneck, I'm planning to upgrade too from r5 2600 to r5 5500.
Will be a massive upgrade, he will love it!
I have 1080p monitor what do you think is this GPU good for it??😅
More than good for it.
hi, there is many brand and model for RX 6600 and RTX 4060 from XFX, MSI, ASUS etc, which brand/model is the best one for those 2 GPU?
The brand doesn't usually matter at this level tbh. XFX and Sapphire make some of the best AMD cards. For Nvidia it used to be EVGA but they have gone now. Anything from any of the big brands will work about the same though.
@@TechLabUK Hmm.. okay thank you!
@@mattsitservices 5600 / 5600x would work great, 5700x3d would be a sweet pairing.
Thanks! :)
Just bought one on my first self built rig and I’m am completely impressed with the performance wow.
Great aren't they, I still swear by them.
Its a gen 4 x8 so it still goes in the top slot right? mine is gen 4 x16
Yes, always install the GPU in the top slot, the slots are up to Gen4 x16 so will work with lower.
Can you test this with a PCIe 3 GPU?
Do you mean in a PCIe Gen Board / Slot? If so the performance difference is minimal tbh. Nothing like the RX 6500Xt and 6400
Can you stream with that gpu?
Sure.
0:19 wow thats impressive for 2001
bought the msi armored version for used $230 (gpus are double the price in here) and i still have an i7 3770 but this gpu's a massive beast for 1080p gaming .will upgrade cpu next month :)
Is it good for video editing?
yes
What mother board and cpu would you use for this
AMD wise anything Ryzen 5 3600 and upwards.
I'm tryna upgrade my pc but idk much and I'm scared of messing anything up so what would you suggest I do
Video comments are not really ideal for walking through upgrade options. If you have Discord join our server (Link in all video descriptions) and there's a lot of people there who can help.
This is a card I'm looking at for my next build. My focus is more on emulation than modern gaming and I want something that can handle at least up till the 6th or 7th gen..
Is it still a good choice to build with ryzen 5600 and rx6600 in 2025?
@@wingchild4446 No idea, it’s not 2025 yet lol. I feel it will still be fine tbh
mine is Asrock Challenger D, bought after proof of work mining ended

even the 3050 was more expensive than the most expensive 6600

Seems a big jump in price tbh, is that the 16GB 7600xt? If so might be worth it but if not would be worth also looking at a 6700Xt 12GB. Still great cards and much faster.

hey Techlabuk. can you do a similar video for rtx 2060 super please?
i have using one for last 9 months, it's very underrated.
When I can get hold of one sure :)
Is this a good upgrade from rx 570? But in a b450 mobo.
Yes, from an RX 570 is a big jump especially in modern games.
@@TechLabUK yo thank you for replying, got another question, from going rx570 to rx 6600, do i need to uninstall the old drivers oor keep it as it is.
@@toningcrib You should update the drivers as they are completely different architectures.
well it achieves playable frame rate on 1440p high as well, so is this gpu then considered a 1440p high settings gpu?
Everyone considers every card differently tbh. There are no specific rules to it all which is why I find it strange when people say "This is a 1080p or 1440p card"... Based on what? What frame frames? What settings? What games? and How many games?
I personally consider cards like this as 1440p cards as you can easily get 60FPS in 98% of games made but a lot of people watching would kick the crap out of me for saying it lol
I recommend the RX 6800 or at least the RX 6700xt.
@@ZackSNetwork for what
Can you overclock it?
Question is rx 6600 better than Colorful iGame RTX 2060 Ultra W OC 12gb?
The RX 6600 is a much faster card in rasterisation not sure about with Ray-Tracing on though but then neither card should really be used for this.
I use this GPU along with Ryzen 7 5700g and still get 90+ FPS in Overwatch 2 high/ultra settings on 3440x1440p resolution
