  • Welcome back to Let’s talk DIESEL, we are going to take a closer look to DEF sending unit (also know as DEF leveling unit or DEF level sensor unit) and how it works inside the DEF tank. This fluid must be clean all the time to ensure that the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) performs properly for the emissions. Have a question or an opinion? I know “the dealer”, we had an unit with the same problem we replace the ATS box and still have regeneration issues, we took it to the dealer and they came to the conclusion that one of the cylinders had problems, in order to proceed to fix the ATS box they needed to fix the cylinder first, so they fixed. Even after that the unit still have issues, then they have to replace the ATS box because the cylinder messed it up, so our company decided just to sell the vehicle as is. Dealer sometimes just do not know how the technician are working there, they just take the money and change the part they might think is the problem. So many bad reputations for dealer around the U.S.

      Yeah, that could be a possibility. Make sure your technician use the proper software tool to let you know the cause. Thanks for watching.

    Currently I’m having this problem on my international LT 2019 where this QLS censor is leaking on top of def tank ... and the worst part is this part is back ordered and have to wait for a week. Is there a temporary solution so I can make to the dealer?

    • @LetstalkDIESEL
      @LetstalkDIESEL  3 года назад +1

      Just bypass the coolant hoses. That will be easiest solution. Thanks for watching and support the channel.

    Question im getting code spn3031 fmi9 def tank temperature chech the wires and connection couldnt find any issue and also the def level goes on and off. Could it be wiring issue or the level unit?

    • @LetstalkDIESEL
      @LetstalkDIESEL  Год назад +1

      Usually, it is the DEF quality level sensor (QLS), perhaps you can take your vehicle to your nearest shop to confirm properly this issue. Thanks for watching.

    Hello I got a issue and got a code def exhaust fluid temperature.
    Voltage below normale or shorter to low sources .
    It's for a 7 month always run .
    What can I do to fix it .any ideas
    Thanks

      Your problem might be the DEF quality level sensor, usually on Volvo trucks, this code does not give more issues beyond the check engine light. My suggestion for you, take your vehicle to a repair shop for a proper diagnostic, that way you will be sure that DEF QLS is the issue. Thanks for watching and I hope this help you.

    SCR Sustem fault Veh speed limited to 8 Kph.
    Why I’m having this code on D13, any idea?

    • @LetstalkDIESEL
      @LetstalkDIESEL  4 года назад

      DD13/15/16 engines, a common cause for the derate is that SCR NOx efficiency is low or very low. If the yellow light around your DEF meter gauge is blinking, it might be because of that. This is my personal opinion, to know exactly the cause, the Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link is required to perform the proper troubleshooting for your issue.

    How can this system be disabled and not used without announcing the error code in the trucks?

    • @LetstalkDIESEL
      @LetstalkDIESEL  Год назад

      There was recall back in 2021 to bypass the DEF level unit fault (for coronavirus shortages) but because the part is now available, Navistar is not allowed it that anymore. In other words, if you have problems with your DEF quality level sensor you must replace it. Thanks for watching the video.

    Hi I have issues poor quality def could be this one ?

    • @LetstalkDIESEL
      @LetstalkDIESEL  Год назад

      Yes, this is the DEF quality level sensor, if you have an International truck you might want to take it to the dealership, they are doing an emergency bypass for this sensor because right is really hard to get this part. Contact your closest international dealership for more information.

    I have 2011 d13 Volvo. My code is spn 4376 fmi5. I'm wondering since I have this code and is related to backflow. I used to when I turn off my tractor when I get to home I hear the pump running for 20-30 seconds. Now it runs only 2 3 seconds and since then I have this code. If you have any idea please let me know here how to fix this. I appreciate it and by the way I like your videos.

    • @LetstalkDIESEL
      @LetstalkDIESEL  2 года назад

      Alright, then looks like the DEF pump is about to failed. But I suggest you to take your truck to a repair shop to do a proper diagnostic, once they test the pump with the Volvo tech tool (diagnostic software) they will let you know if that is the cause of the code or there is something else. Thank you for the support.

      @@LetstalkDIESEL Okay I will try but last year I replace the pump with the aftermarket one Bosch. Did not fix the issue. I will take it to the shop and see what they say.
