I’ve been commenting every once in a while that I wish somebody here in California would inviting him to join a fishing party so that we can get some coast to coast type footage. I was hoping somebody around here would reach out to him. Yeah it is a good channel.
❤Nick, I discovered you in 2020 when my noncancerous brain tumor was discovered. I finally had surgery January 2024 with amazing results. Your show got me through the toughest part. Your subscribers gave me so much amazing support. However, I am sorry to say the tumor has already grown back to its original size. Problem is my surgeon changed careers, suddenly. I'm hoping to find a surgeon in my area to nelp. In the meantime, your show helps calm me. So talented.
Nick, you should book a trip to the river Ebro in Spain. There you can catch triple digit catfish too. Only those triple digits are in kilos, not pounds.
@@shelbyherring92 hah. I lost a bottom fishing setup due to big carp prolly also. Smashed the bait so hard it catapulted the rod out of the rod holder while we were barbecuing.
You really do make watching someone fish fun Nick. We get to feel every emotion with you as if we are the one in the moment. I can't wait until "we" catch that 100+ lbr. See you next week.
I was watching the presidential debate and it hit me. Its THURSDAY!!!! 618 Fishing. Thank goodness. Thank you for pulling me away from that. Nice fish!
@@theKrausman I was using shrimp...I leave it out to get thawed out then put it back into the freezer and repeat so by the time I use it the shrimp has been out for a while.
Hi Nick. I've got a quick fly fishing tip for you if you'd like. When you send your line out, right when it hits the water, bring the line with your left hand and place it under your right index finger (known as the control finger). Then strip fish in from behind the control finger. You might have this down already, but the video shows you losing a fish with your line way out in your left hand. Just a tip (as I know you are very humble about your fly fish skills). Watch your video every week with great anticipation! Thanks.
I'm unconvinced on the 17 year cicada hatch. I've seen two emergences, and have literally seen untold numbers of unmolested adults fluttering on the surface while I'm catching them on artificials. Nothing like a stonefly hatch out west. Has anybody out there ever "slayed em" with a cicada fly? Just curious.
I know what ya mean....that 1 fish! This past week-end, I was out fishing with my sons and we were having an ok day, a few Bluegills, a couple of 2-3 pound largemouth. Then, right as I made what was supposed to be my last cast of the day, my line took off like a rocket. That fish must have made a 100 foot run straight across the river then sunk like a rock. As soon as I started feeling it in, it woke up and zig-zagged all the way up to the Shore, fighting every inch of the way! When my oldest son finally got it in the net....it was one beauty of a Cat. She weighed in at 22.6 pounds! Same as you, thank God I had 50lb test braided on the reel or I definately would have lost that beast. We took a bunch of pics and let her go to hopefully give someone else the thrill of hooking her. We decided to stay for a little while longer but she was the last catch of the day. Oh, what was the bait? A nice strip of raw chicken from a leg. A semi ok day turned great because of 1 fish.
Really nice fish Nick, well done! If you love a big Catfish I would highly recommend a trip to Thailand - I have had Amazon Red Tails to 65lb but the real beasts are the Giant Mekong, they go to over 600lb, an angler when I was out there had one at 320lb on the lake I was fishing and it took him over 2 hours to get in, he could hardly stand in the bar that night!
Seriously, NOT BEING MEAN!!!! I watch all the time, for years, awesome channel!!! butt….. I think if you got a TRIPLE DIGIT kitty on the line, it would work you over so fast your head would spin!!! You’d end up in the drink. You said it yourself, your confidence for the river is low, well I’ve watched here and been with a few in person who ARE incredibly confident about their ability and they have never seen a cat that big!!! I just don’t think people understand what a 100+lbs fish is capable of, they can tow boats where they feel like, they are old and experienced and know exactly what to do IF hooked! I would absolutely love the day to come when the title says “I DID IT!!!!” I’m not gonna hold my breath buddy….. keep up the good work!!!!
Woooooooo 🤘 I knew you'd start catching big catfish eventually, had no doubt about it! Now, you just need a big flathead, which you will eventually get too! 🤙🤙✌️
Nick I've been a fan and a subscriber to your channel for a long time. I especially love it when you go to the pond of giants. But sometimes you have me on the edge of my seat when you have a nice fish on your line and your only a few feet from the edge of the embankment and your trying to get it in the net. It's a wonder you don't hear me yelling just pull the damn thing in will you LOL. But that was a real nice catfish bro. Good job 👍👍 can't wait for the next video. Mike from Pennsylvania
You should make it out to the Potomac River. Man, there is a spot near the Occoquan outlet under the RT123 bridge that you can catch monster Flatheads. There are rats in the rocks. We take pellet guns and take a few rats. Use them as bait. 60 plus pounders are there all day.
Youre rod is to little to fish from the shore ! if you fish a such a big water youre better youse longer rods ... I wanna see how you react when you have a 100lb on youre line. So good advice. Use longer and bigger rods , it makes you controle big fish better !
@618 Fishing So Nick what would even as a one time only video would be if you take someone with you who Films you while you make the film. There are a lot of cool shots when you walk by or climb down and i often thinkg damn he almost fell or sth and now he hast to go back grab his Kamera and have to climb again. Such a Video could be fun
As far as catching fish that size why not go to braid? You could have like 90lb braid on there and it's like the same diameter of 50lb mono. Great video, and what a cat!
Nick.. to get that triple digit fosh you might need to go to St Louis, where the Missouri meats the Mississippi.. Pretty sure the WR blue cat was caught caught there.
Alright, and this isn't me saying anything against by any means, does anyone else have the Mandela effect a bit? I could have sworn he said "see you later little buddy" not just "see you later buddy"?
Some people like to put the weight on a sacrificial line in case of snags like that they’ll put a hook on top with the main line and then for the weight they’ll use like a 20 pound leader to break it off to retrieve the hook and the fish just something I’ve heard I’ve never used it before but in case that helps you
Great video mate. I chase basically any fish that swims on fly, so it was awesome to see you target some not trout on fly. You could try a wooly bugger, with a heavier leader, and strip strike rather than lift strike.
We have monster catfish here in the Uk as well but i've never caught one of them. They seem to grow bigger where the climate is warmer. Congratulations on getting your fish !
So I just started fishing am a complete newb. Can someone explain to me why you would real the fish all the way up and then net it instead of just realing it onto the bank all the way?

Man you're gonna lose one of your rods by leaving them unguarded like that. Talking from experience lol
Yup, I've lost a flipcast rod and reel combo and a 9 foot Avoslab that way...
They flipped pretty quick, so I'm guessing carp took mine.
