I played Memoir 44 and HoN. HoN is 100 Times Better.

What aspects make it better?

The Cards are the main thing. You can force strategies according to the cards in your hand.
The bluff and unit selecction for action it is better,
The basic Memoir just felt boring roll a dice and look if you hit.
The card board units are nice and easy to deploy. HoN has more than 10 expansions for a "new" game thats a lot. They also have a Cthulhu themed based version Shadows over Normandie.
Some of them are just a few bucks.
