Thanks Joel. FWIW I'm pretty sure that range arrow on the leader means that he takes a penalty if shooting over range 4, rather than adds 4 to the standard 7 range.
Possibly worth checking, but I refuse to look at that mess of a manual again, and was interested that you described it as well done.
To me the manual read like a player aid, and I couldn't get any sense of how the game flowed, or what the rules were trying to simulate, or how they related to each other. It was so bad that I've walked away from the game until another version comes out.
However, you clearly had no problem at all, and I'd be fascinated to know if you taught yourself just using the manual, or had some pointers from system veterans or online vids :-)

Thanks for the vid. Outside of the Shadows, they also have a slew of non-monster expansions be it scenario (DDay, Pegasus Bridge), units (Rangers, SS), and scenery (rivers, farmhouses, etc)

Achtung! Cthulhu was the small expansion for HoN. Shadows Over Normandie is the game re-themed with new mythos factions and magic abilities, and works even better than HoN. Mostly because there are no tanks, but the style of play is just more suitable to the theme.

The game looks like a lot of fun and the cartoon artwork makes it more approachable for non-wargamers. I recently purchased Conflict of Heroes and Battlelore 2.0 before I heard of this game, so I feel I have my fill of tactical squad games for now.
P.S.Love the channel. I look forward to each upload. I appreciate the broad spectrum of genres you cover and find your overviews more informative than others.

Thanks Ben! Can't go wrong with CoH and BL2.

"Tentacles!?!" LOL! I'm with you on that one! Not my cup of tea, but hey, there must be a lot of folks out there that like that kind of thing, and they won't be disappointed with this company. DPG has done an outstanding job with HoN, I can't wait to get my hands on some of the tons of expansions coming for this game! Great review!

Thanks for sharing this review. :)
To me this game reminds me of those Advanced Wars tactical games that came out on Gameboy game systems over the years.

Ah definitely! Someone should make a game in that universe or FF Tactics style game with this level of detail.

About to purchase this and one or two expansions, which ones would you recommend? Great vid!

I wasn't too keen on the expansions, but they are releasing a Warhammer 40,000 version that looks really neat.

Hi Joel , I already have COH awakening the bear , is this title still relevant to pick up ?
Is there a difference in ease of play and or fun factor between the two?

They are pretty close. I think HoN is probably a bit easier to pick up. I'd throw Band of Brothers in the mix with these games, and that one is my current favorite. I still need to try Combat Commander, but that's the other one I see bandied about in coversations about HoN. But, I don't really know if you need more than one of these permanently in your collection.

Thanks for the response ..... I was looking into Band of Brothers but no one has it in stock right now

It should be coming in stock with the next expansion, which I should have mentioned that I would wait for anyway as it will contain fixed counters for the base set.

I would not laugh at, nor disparage, nor dismiss CTHULHU if I were you! You put yourself in grave danger.... and risk your sanity....

Point taken. But I wasn't disparaging. Just dreading :p

THIS WAS NOT MADE BY IELLO.
    Devil Pig Games made it.
    IELLO just distributed it.
Please give credit where credit is do.
In fact Iello didn't even distribute it.
The dropped the ball and then passed it off to Alliance. Which then royally screwed the pooch.
    This is a great game.
Worst thing about it is the Iello name on the box.
    Shouldnt even be there IMO.
DPG never seems to get their credit.

My apologies. I just looked at the logo on the box. I have next to zero knowledge about the inner workings of distribution.
