Orks not having buff token is by design. Orks don't bother with bluffing - they are all about brute force. You will notice they regularly end up having more order tokens then Space Marines, this to highlight their uniqueness. This should, in my opinion, be a pro and not a con. It adds flavor. Expect the Eldar to maybe have an extra bluff haha. Agree on the rulebook. Good review Sam.
Sam here...I understand it was a design choice for the Orks to not give them that ability. But I don't like how the ability is an *upgrade* for the other army (soon to be armies, I'd imagine). That was one thing that really made the heroes system sing, in my opinion. Maybe other, more sneaky armies will have it inherently available to them in the future. But for now, I was disappointed in its partial omission.
Out of curiosity which would you say is the best entry in the Heroes of X series? I'm currently considering picking one of them up but I'm a little undecided. I'm leaning more towards HoN at the moment but SoN, HoS and HoBR all have their appeal.
Hi Sam. I think the lack of bluff tokens for the orks maybe a clever design choice if they use it to make the factions more distincts. The orks have no bluff because they rely more on brutal force. Maybe the dark Eldars will have more and for free. Will see !

Can’t wait to watch this when I get off work! I have been waiting for this review from Sam for a while! I have the main base game but had a hard time getting through the rule book so I picked up the drop zone last week which has a better more streamlined rule book and hoping to play this weekend. Really hope they do other factions. Some eldar/tyranids/necrons/chaos would be awesome!
Great review Sam! I’m working through this game so I can bring it to game night soon! Can you backtrack on the order tokens! In the first scenario, to me it looks like the Orks only get 3 order tokens. Do you count the order star on the recruitment tile for the Mob AND the unit token?
Hello Sam This about the Hero's of Normandie game and light Armored vehicles such as the M-8 Greyhound. Although the real M-8 had light armor, along with the other Armored Cars there is no armor rating on the counters in the front or the sides. If an infantry unit without anti tank weapons fires at the M-8 is it automatically destroyed? A friend sent of an Email to Devil Pig never got a reply. It would be greatly appreciated if you could give us a heads up on this matter. We've tried ASL, COMBAT MISSIONS the computer game ,great game, Currently trying to find my old laptop, it has Windows XP to run West Front from Talon Soft! Oh my god I guess I've dated myself. It would be a great help to drop a line on this problem. Have a nice weekend.☺️👍
It looks really cool and I'm very much tempted to pick up a copy. BUT my 2 player games just end up never getting played, as we are always 3+ for board game night. It would be very awesome however, if they did a future memoir44 overload style expansion plan. SM and IG vs Chaos and DE, I'd totally be on board with that :)
The organization of the rulebook SUCKS! My friend and I played the first 3 scenarios and it took us close to 5 hours, much of which was looking up the description of symbols for abilities.
Sam here...ahhh, but it isn't! Gameplay is very simple. The complexity comes in with all the different abilities of the different units and so on, but once you're familiar with the iconography it's very intuitive because all those icons are right in front of you!
The Dice Tower yeah for sure. Looked easy when you explained it. A lot easier than the box indicated. Showed the wife this game just the other day and she looked at it and her thought was yikes it looks hard. Her favorite game is Star Wars Armada and Legions though. Go figure.
Great review. But why the heck is it when there is a space marine army in a set, it always has to be the ultra marine faction? Small nit pick but they have to be the driest in all of 40k, ork army all good though.
Vincent Heslin I believe it might have to do with branding. The moment you see a blue suited up dude with a massive gun, most people make the connection that he is a 40k space marine. I do agree though that I find them bland.
@@nightbringer2189 I don't find the UM bland, but it seems like GW switched from branding the Space Marines in red suits (Blood Angels) in the 90's to Blue some time during the 00's.
However, we both love the game and agree that it seems a great fit of theme and system. Hopefully we get more armies like Imperial Guard.

Excellent review, Sam! Thanks for doing this!
Thank you, Sam. This is another fantastic review and I appreciate all the work you put into your reviews.
Sam here...Thank you so much!

I agree, for someone who never played Heroes of Normandie, I really struggled getting through that rulebook.
Make all 40k games like this. I hate the miniature painting junk. I just want to play.
I was looking forward for this review from you Sam. Awesome, thank you👍👍
Sam here...You're welcome!
Thanks for doing this one. I loved Heroes of Normandie and was very interested in this version.

When I play a game I don’t want to have to go to college to learn how to play.

Waiting next for a Helsreach reimplementation of Castle Panic.
Thanks for reviewing.
Just too bad it can't be played solo. Can it?
Nope. It's incredibly unfortunate. The storage is also awful, good luck if you don't buy the addon storage or invest in a bunch of containers.
you and zee are genius in game explanation thx
Love ya Sam. I would have added con... looks scary complex to play

In this case, it has to be the Ultramarines because they're tied to the canonical storyline.

Sounds like a typical 40k rulebook
It rubs the Citadel Paints on its skin.
Orks can't bluff .. maybe that is why they removed the ability from them ;)
dead zone whit bruttal miniature 60% this only cardboards 70$":D teah no ty
Not figures? Missed opportunity
The game not having figures is the only reason I'm interested.
Nice double sided box.
