She was incredibly selfish with her bathroom. In a bathroom you spend perhaps 30 minutes - 1 hour daily. How about boys in their bedrooms? Playing, studying? Most of their day! They cannot even have their friends over. Showers are more ecological anyway. People, remember, architects spend years studying space distribution and have experience with all kinds of spaces; when one offers you an advice for free, TAKE IT.

Given how she threatened taking his kids away (effectively if not in as many words) and refused to go to the site she is incredibly selfish.

I canMt even imagine telling my kids “you’ll have cramped bedrooms cause mommy needs a big bathroom”. Unfathomable!

It's for sale atm and it looks like whoever bought it from them changed the bathroom to a bedroom and made it much more like his design

The layout makes me laugh, those poor kids with those tiny bedrooms.

Yeah, but the important thing is that she got what she wanted.

Those rooms were built with zero perspective--they don't fit the boys now and they will VASTLY have outgrown them by the time they're teens. Any teen would prefer to share a slightly larger room with a sibling because at least then you can take turns using it... The tiny rooms are just totally unusable.

ceci n'est pas une restauration, mais une pure détérioration à l'anglaise !

What a nice time to live - in a time when you can just give up your job to convert a house and your wife can just go out and find a job at the local post office ......
How many years ago was this filmed ?
Gareth has done it the correct way. Don't bother about all the stuck up officials who tell you what and what you can't do and "scare" people into thinking THEY know what YOU should be doing.
    Well done Gareth.

I wonder about the fresh water supply and the location of the septic system. It would be interesting to know how they solved this issue.

They have two boys. They should have made one bedroom for both of them. That way they have two decent size bedrooms. The boys can still give each other privacy. Those little rooms are ridiculous.

As adolescents they probably appreciated their privacy. Also, compared to tiny house living, the bedrooms don’t appear nearly as minuscule. And there was just enough space to have a friend sleep over. I take my hat off to Gareth for an amazing build. He’s a talented guy and artist!

Having dug in ancient burial grounds, you find a lot of "orphan" bones. If you consider 1000 years of successive burials in a fairly restricted space with grave markers being moved, lost and so forth, you're bound to disrupt an old grave when you dig a new one. Apparently that's just a day at the office for gravediggers in the UK. The important thing from the CofE standpoint is that the bones don't leave the consecrated ground. Other than that, they can be in any arrangement they like.

I'm mostly through a church to house renovation, where I do the bulk of the work. Trust me, you don't spend lots of time jawing! It's work, work, work, and work.

I enjoyed watching this one. Even though the windows weren't all highlighted as they might have been, I still think this is one of the best church to home conversions I've seen on this show. It still very much embraced the space and felt cohesive.

It would seem that there is a false importance on this old 170 year old bone.
Why would that be so important.
