I feel blessed to be able to afford Internet so I can watch things I cannot afford🙏💥
😂
🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣yep, living vicariously through them
Also the great history lesson by GEORGE with every episode and my android phone. Blessed with the phone and George's patience and intelligence... THANK YOU SO MUCH
Lol 😂 me too!
I love seeing people restore old buildings and castles. they do not make buildings like they used to, the history, the architecture, nothing today really compares, we should be restoring and saving more than we do, its a shame they're too often left to rot.
Such a fascinating building. I’ve never seen an Oast House before…..absolutely fascinating!! I so love seeing all of the old photos, as well. All of the history, is quite touching, actually. I love this show!
WOW! I am in awe that they stayed on budget and within the projected timeframe. It's stunning, too!
I love all the openness and light from a facility that had virtually none. The glass floor balcony would have been so gaudy, This turned out wonderfully.
When money is not a problem...you stay aside and watch the crews make your dream a reality...on time.
👍👌👏 Exactly! With lots of money everything is possible. But that's definitely not what I want to see in this series.
Best regards, luck and health.
I agree having a big budget helps to stay on track. I was supposed to hear they stayed on budget too.
I do believe, even they must deal with "Contractors and their frustrating DELAYS"
But, you're right about observing one's Dreams Manifest.
... ahhh, what a truly desirable vision. 🌇
agree...
i agree--financial freedom..., gives you all the opportunities...
Wow , for once I didn't get stressed out for the owner. On budget, on time. Bravo! Well done. I so enjoy it.
Such a beautiful, sympathetic restoration. Well done
The build is quite impressive, and the bedrooms turned out nice for how little light they have, but I'm a little underwhelmed at the main floor's decor. There was so much more potential in those gorgeous spaces, I don't think the wall colours chosen and the furnishing do them justice.
Thank you George! I binge watch your videos and each one is a treasure. The inspiration you receive from these architectural restorations flows seamlessly into the inspiration you give to me. You are indeed a Super Hero. Restoration Man to the rescue!
Yes he is wonderful and I always watch him as much as I can.
Same here
It's relaxing to see the living room & the kitchen...love the house very much...Congratulations to jame & lois
amazing transformation ,absolutely beautiful home
I have to admit, I didn’t see the vision until the end. Those big dark dreary bedrooms, came out great!
Very nice! It is so nice to see restoration to old buildings. Thank you.
Thanks for the upload. Not seen this one.
George your videos are just amazing!
Incredible spectacular work congratulations well done.
Of all the episodes I've watched, this one is my favorite.
Beautiful house!!! So glad the loud music fiasco seems to be a thing of the past!! Very enjoyable video to watch!
Commercial exit sign?
So is this the new “Renovation Home?” I liked the previous host better. Why didn’t they bring her back?
@@lisalove511 completely different show
I love how this build went so well. We here in the USA also protect our bats, I was thrilled to see the Long Hair Brown bat, what a joy they are protected there as well..
Refreshing to see a restoration that was planned well!!!
Right 🤦
It’s sad that this is a compliment lol
Growing up in horsmonden and visiting Scotney regularly this was quite the interesting find deep in Quarantine! Seems Bats can have quite the affect on our lives huh 😉😷
That sounds like a March 2020 joke! I can't lie, I smirked!
Here's to when the earth takes off the louvers of this virus and the light streams in!
Oh I'd love a full tour of this one, it's gorgeous and I want to see all the bedrooms and storage spaces.
I do love George’s laugh! 💕
George is the perfect man in every single way. I bet he puts the loo seat down after using it too.
Best resto ever on this channel
Hands down the best episode
This is by far one of my favorites. And they came in slighty under budget was awesome.
So what was the budget from start? And where did they end up? Do you think he planned the pool and tennis court into his budget? How you know he managed to hold budget?
@@GALENGODIS They mentioned what the budget amount was in the video. You should watch it.
62500 pounds is a nice budget but not over the top
It looks so nice inside. I was worried when she said all about the modern stuff I don't came out looking so nice.
Stunning!
Nice work guys. A very impressive renovation and enjoyable show. It's great that transferring the family mansion to the National Trust didn't result in the family leaving the area, and this new house is a wonderful tribute to the distinguished family history.
Love your videos George, your such a gentlemen too
I am amazed that they stayed on budget and added a tennis court and swimming pool. Nine beds and baths is incredible for entertaining!
I'm pretty sure he qualified the "house" came in on budget. Tennis court and pool additional. Sorry to see the kitchen was twee.
Glad to see they could fit the Bats in the budget......seriously....😖
I think they said 7 kids. Imagine the crowd at holidays! lol Definitely can understand the need for all the bedrooms and baths.
What a great transition and under budget too.
Yay, bats! ❤❤❤
Excellent episode! 🎉🎉🎉 ThankYou ❤
Beautiful brillant well done!
Just lovely building. Love your videos
I am speechless🤭...👏👏👏!
You can just see how pissed he is that he didn't get the mansion
Who can blame him. Instead the bureaucrats have it. Disgusting
Idk, as grand as it is, the upkeep would be staggering and never ending!
I'd be mad too, they gave the family home away to the government.
As I watch more and more of these shows the Trust can choose to sell it to someone else. Not sure but if they who are the conservatoire a grand house and castle can put it available for auction like all the other historical buildings that are falling down. Just hope if that happens he can sell this one as a profit and afford the other buildings.
Great episode!!!
Terrific restoration, great couple!!
I find it much more meaningful and impressive when someone, or a couple build their own dream rather than just sign cheques.
Beautiful! The resources available were put to prudent use.
I can't get enough of this stuff and this guy! :D
@Scumfuck McDoucheface She'll get there it's the dimples gets them every time lol. BTW love your handle.... I can just see you in a scruffy tartan shaking your chipped claymore lol. ;)
@Scumfuck McDoucheface George is the perfect man. Other men should learn from him.
Beautifull restoration!
Wow! That was a great success! Beautiful project. :-)
My favourite is still the 'poor' guy with the 50k church that he did himself, all through e bay. ... that's what attracted me to this programme. Wonder if he took up restoring houses as a profession.. with 600k budget this guy.. does nothing.
Aye! Agree.
He's not poor he's inspirational and very self-taught which is motivating and again inspirational to everybody it's that fact there you could do anything if you put your mind to it
By himself he did a magnificent job
Same! Could never forget Gareth. And with no background in building as well, he did amazing. He was just talent and hardwork combined. Hope he sees our comments and is doing well!
Can someone link this episode please
I rermember visiting Finchcocks many years ago which is a keyboard musicial instruments' museum. Fascinating. Well worth a visit.
George has the most beautiful smile. His whole face glows.
Talented piano solo at Doing It Ourselves by Michael . Nice to see them again!
Superb restoration.
Beautiful
I'll be visiting Kent Country this fall, and thanks to this episode, I will now know what those funny looking buildings with their rotating roof vents are! I can't wait to arrive! Thanks for the upload.
Delightfully creative. So many paradigms set aside. No wonder George found it so exciting. Deep pockets and fine management skills rule the “roost”. Hopefully the bats are managed properly so they haven’t caused health problems for their new neighbors. Synergy is expected and probably found in the current situation. Any follow up for viewers?
Iron master Abraham Darby saw oast houses in Kent using coke to dry the hops. This got him thinking, and he returned home to Shropshire and began to experiment with making a blast furnace powered with coke rather than charcoal- and kick-started the Industrial Revolution.
So far ..this one is my favorite..
Truly stunning!
JO JO IN VT 💕😄🇺🇸
Imagine seeing your old historical family home sold off, and sitting there taunting you
Finally a finished building!
What awesome history! Being from Canada, where our history is limited and nowhere near as interesting (in my opinion), I find this program very enlightening. Great job! 👍🏻
Beautiful house. ❤❤❤❤❤👍
Notice they weren't 'living in a caravan' during the build!
Beautiful home. Well done.
It's awesome how many people are out there that want to maintain traditional ways of doing things.
Its nice to see people who are willing to risk their savings and sanity to bring the old back to life. I wish they would have kept the brewery less modern but they seem to be truly happy and that's is what matters.
I love George Clarke ♥
Amazing 🤩🤩🤩🤩
I LOVE to watch any of the restoration man shows, such interesting work and beautiful locations but PLEASE stop drowning out his voice with music! He gives history and facts that get lost because he has a soft voice. They're not all like that but many are. I love them all!
I agree!
The peirce turned out beautiful. I wish they had used the wood louvers inside as decorative shutters & the wood doors as decorative (non-functional) doors.
Gorgeous!
P.S. My grandmother used to use hops as a starter to make bread.
Exit sign? Ok...this isn't a house...This clearly commercial/ hotel / rental.
The farmhouse is a b and b business
How did I go my entire life without seeing an oast house until now? These owners are a well oiled machine.
I wonder if Mrs Barrow had her kids helping her pick the hops!❤️
This may be a sacrilege, but when I see all these ancient stately family mansions with their moldy stone facades, I desperately want to pressure wash them and bring them back to the smooth, clean look they had when they were new. How truly glorious were they at the start? We’ll never know, because it’s not done. Today we seem to enjoy the visual of seeing their age instead. My OCD disagrees.🙃
Me too! I love pressure washing, it’s so satisfying 😀
Pressure washing an old building does horrendous damage. There are ways to clean the brick/ morter and stone more gently. It must be done in accordance with preservation guidelines.
George. How do you find each one of the builds to document the process that you have recorded?
I just love the intonations on 6:45 “aaaah, you’ve got bats” 😆😂
Restorations are always amazing in Britain and Ireland
Thank goodness that craft beers are becoming very popular and many are very successful.
This building is now a short term rental home. Which explains why they put in a pool, a tennis court, and had a green exit sign above the front door. I don't think they ever had any intention of moving in.
That occurred to me, when I saw that 'Fire Exit' sticker over the front door when George visited for the final time. A quick search on google confirmed my suspicions.
I worked in a vineyard for one season, tending to the vines, and working with the hops would be fun.
Lovely..
George, I love your laugh.
He is the most perfect man who has ever lived.
If this was meant to be a family home I definitely like a lot of what they did except the front door entry area with that TV in the corner. It could be so much better with no TV and better furniture and furniture placement.
I like it a lot!
Thanks for turning the music level down ! BUT I think we've had enough of bats this year. (2020)
Lol I totally agree with you. (2020) has been a very “bat” filled year. Well said.
Oh dear, poor George, nothing went wrong on this build.
I always think he thrives on things going wrong.
It helps of course when the clients have enough money to do the things they want.
They have made for themselves and their children a beautiful home to enjoy for years to come.
And for the bats.
George is always right and he is the perfect man in every single way.
@@fionagregory8078 Impossible
I was skeptical at first, thinking that they'd probably ruin a nice old industrial building. I have to say the result was stunning though. I watch a lot of these programmes, and this is one of the best results I have seen. About the only thing I didn't like was the lights in the kitchen. I'm glad they didn't decide to put glass in the balcony floor.
A “family” home , that has hotel/public building fire and exit signs . ....? Clearly a rental or business not a private home
think about how much they could rent it for , just makes sense really
the standards for an airb&b are much higher in Europe...……...
Just googled it, it’s a bed and breakfast/farm stay property.
I thought the issue about the bats was a joke, but clearly not.
I can not believe these commissions concern themselves with trifling like this and yet no concern is given to the homeless, destitute, elderly, children, schools etc
House is beyond gigantic and hope the family can pass it on from one generation to another
Yeah if bats are valued above an Englishman with money, you have to wonder how poor people or people of color fit into that hierarchy.
People stop hating on the bats, they lived in there long before the Kent couple.
The Chinese eat them don’t they
"Lighting has to be spot on."
sehr schön
LOL, so this is what Mr. Darcy's great-great-great-great-great-great grandchildren live like today. Fascinating!
I think you should be able to provide a perminant relocation bat structure. Better for all.
I've said it a million times. Some of these builds drag on forever and are riddle with mistakes because time and mistakes are putting extra money in somebody's pocket.
Why don't these kinds of programs have subtitles? Put it!!! Plz
Were they playing The Sims at 42:12? "what would go nice next to this dining table?" "not sure, theres alot of room? maby another dining table?"
All is well that ends well
#1 ... have a glass closing door inside whatever you call those uprights and keep the fan. So when the weather is appropriate you can open the glass and turn on those fans and cool the whole house. #2 ... have the ability to turn those things at the top towards the sun and put reflective coating on the inside to provide light.
Blow the tennis court, go for the glass floor on the veranda, and let more light into the bedrooms.
