This once hard working, abandoned and neglected piece of History has been transformed into a beloved Home, cherished and saved by a passionate couple... Bless their heart...
What a lovely couple. My hat is off to them for hanging in there and completing their dream home while keeping a historical building alive. Enjoy your new home!
This episode is one of my favorites ever. The couple is wonderful and so full of love and strength and courage for their beautiful restoration project. Well done and congratulations 🍾 to an amazing couple and a incredible restoration
I ❤️ this owners enthusiasm about the history of his property. God Bless them for keeping this history still up and standing instead of torn down or just left to fall down.
Alan and Dora are artists. This is so far the best episode of Restoration Man during this pandemic video binge I'm currently undergoing. They were hit financially and maybe were regretting taking on the build in the middle of construction but what they created in the end is a true reflection of their artistic sensibilities. Best restoration so far.
I like this guy. The gentleman whoa restoring the Flint mill. He just had an air of down to earth authority about him. Not bashful, but not brazen. He just seems like a fun guy to know
All of these restorations are amazing but this one is special. It feels like the flint mill is still there not gyprocked over. Really really well done Alan and Dora. eta, given the market action the last two weeks, you dodged a bullet pulling your money out.
Oh My! Alan and his wife did an Amazing job in restoring the Old Mill. Loved every aspect of the job that they took on right down to the restoring of the old metal desk and the use of it. The old wooden beams, the creation of every room addition; love the round windows and the discovery of the stones. The landscape is absolutely astonishing, what a lovely place to retire to.
I have watched many of theses episodes and other British renovation shows...this one has been my favorite..so far...Great job Alan and Dora...CHEERS...
Oh my goodness, I just hope they are able to get back on their feet financially. What they have done is absolutely beautiful, I for one appreciate them saving a large piece of history
The guest room is used as a B&B. They run it. With no mortgage they should likely be able to plow back into their savings from their jobs and the room rental. And since 2013 my guess is the value has gone up enormously.
Well done and nothing but praise , sitting here in southern calif. with my coffee and the ending brought Tears at such a transformation from turn of century key industrial literally Rock to coffee cup to residence , you see my parents grew up in Flint michigan usa and mothers side of family is from Frankley Worchestershire England , yes a piece away apx 35 miles south , just a outstanding restoration accomplishment Bravo !
This has to be the most incredible restoration I have ever seen. My hat is off to Alan and Dora to a job well done for their perseverance to complete the project. It was definitely worth all the blood, sweat and tears they contributed to make this restoration so wonderful.
I really liked this couple! What a great building to restore, and they did a wonderful job! I was rooting for them, unlike I have rooted for any other couple on this show! So glad they were able to finish! 👍👏❤😊
What a great couple and what a fantastic home, the way that the builders stitched the front wall together is amazing. All the money is well worth what they have achieved, a totally unique piece of history AND a wonderful home, well done to George too!
Heartwarming project. I was touched by these two devotion to preserve and restored this mill. I loved every view of it and more so, that it is in Flint.. One of my best friend's name. Best of luck!!!
Going in, I guessed $450,000 US and it's $520,000. It's really lovely and I'm glad that they saved a huge part of the area's history. I'd live there in a second. They kept so much of the original character and it feels modern and comfortable while not erasing it's original features.
Thanks Alan and Dora. We now have another wonderful, saved bit of our historic built environment. This little flint mill building gives us a tangible link to the past. John Bethel, Missouri, USA
Other naive couples who go into this kind of restoration would have given up on the project because they wouldn't have been willing to sacrifice their retirement but these two recognised the value of this beautiful old building and threw every last penny into getting it finished to the highest standard. I'm from Stoke on Trent and know these areas well and now I'm prepared to drive to Stone just to check this place out. Hands down one of the best and most respectful restorations I've ever seen.
Such a lovely couple, and thoughtful and nice people, and they listened to advice and did their very best, I would love to live there, I wish them the best of happiness
What a nice couple they seem to be. I love how they didn't over power the history of the building with anything modern, just touches here and there. All around a great job.
Lindo, maravilhoso, 🇧🇷. So, so beautiful... I cried with them. Do you know what, they should oppen for visitors for a while, or 1,2 ,3 times a year, to recover the investiments... go ahead guys... you two deserves it.🌼❤🇧🇷.
2nd time watching and i still think it was worth it the history is still there but with new make up thats all hats of to the couple i do hope they stay there rest there days it suits them
Wow. They have a beautiful eye for design. Stunning. Probably one of my top 3 favorites. They seem like a wonderful couple. I hope they are still enjoying their gorgeous home.
Alan and Dora are two very special people to take on this massive project. I wish I was 30 years younger as I would like to tackle a project, but age is against me. This without a doubt now a special building and should inspire others around the world to restore what is left of your heritage!
People who buy neglected property should have compensation due to they want to willing preservation the old style. That a form of respect for they effort.
Awesome renovation! The guest bdrm looks even more stylish then the master bdrm as far as the camera gave us insight. I feel I would have put in more windows and chosen more light colors to invite more light into the rooms. Excellent work and my respect for sticking to their dream!
I really like this one. Not necessarily where it's at though. Her kitchen is my favorite! It is not really huge, it's not sterile looking, has tons of character. The old and new elements blend well together. I also love how they kept the bricks showing in what we would call their living room. I just love old bricks, stone ECT.♥️
Yikes As a surveyed study Were water was flowing It's easy to return... A slanting Hill side" rain water flows down, Even as filled in" as this. This is 🤪 A bit bonkers and Scary" to live in this building. Gusty move! Wish them well and luck 🍀🤗
love the mill and how they kept its character and added lots of charm to it . very unique with a private garden. Dowside it that damn train right next to them. It went by too often.
Great restoration that should see that building survive for another few hundred years. 99.9 % of people would not get involved in such a project, fair play to those who take such a monumental headache.
I love these shows. But you really need to sort out the background music when George is talking as I cant here him..if I turn the volume up Obviously it turns up the background music/sound. Apart from that brilliant

Bless their heart...
They'll need more than blessings, the poor things are now short one retirement. Not sure how they're gonna eat.
I would imagine that he could work part-time as a surveyor without it being onerous. They are also mortgage free. Amazing build.
What a lovely couple. My hat is off to them for hanging in there and completing their dream home while keeping a historical building alive. Enjoy your new home!

Agreed. If you can stay together through a rehab, your solid! lol
@@faithm9284 ...or a refurb.
The craftsmen on these jobs are incredibly talented, masters of their craft. I'm just so impressed.
I'm addicted to this show.
Julie Barnett hehehe.. true. I think I do as well. “I’d never do that myself!” Of course I would.
Me too, but to many repeats.
Yes, I just discovered this channel about a month ago, the stress of the financing gets to me though...
Ditto... and George too!!!
Same

I especially loved how they grassed over the old route the water took from the river to get to the mill.
Fabulous job! And glad they showed the final product.
I have watched many of theses episodes and other British renovation shows...this one has been my favorite..so far...Great job Alan and Dora...CHEERS...
What other British Reno shows are there? I am in the US.
I’m addicted to this show myself ! I’ve learned a lot of History and watched beautiful buildings be brought back to life !
This was a joy to watch the transformation. We have done lots of new and old buildings. The ole ones get our heart and our budget every time.
Oh my goodness, I just hope they are able to get back on their feet financially. What they have done is absolutely beautiful, I for one appreciate them saving a large piece of history

What a character, I like the way you keep the old and modern together.
Job well done! I especially love the kitchen and the second flight of stairs in the staircase that shows the extension and brick.
Thanks Alan and Dora. We now have another wonderful, saved bit of our historic built environment. This little flint mill building gives us a tangible link to the past.

Beautiful renovation. Every penny spent well. I am so envious!
Such a beautiful job. Very well done.
The timber of the annex continuing into the brick building is really nicely done!!!
Brilliant! This has my creative juices flowing with dreams of renovating an old mill or barn. I have a feeling anything is possible!
They did an amazing job. They even have good taste in decor! Most of the people on this show have no design taste lol
What a lovely restoration! So tastefully decorated too. Love it!
Such a lovely couple, and thoughtful and nice people, and they listened to advice and did their very best, I would love to live there, I wish them the best of happiness

If I were young and rich this would be so much fun. All those stairs are not for me but...it looks great!
Great historic rebuild project
love the mill and how they kept its character and added lots of charm to it . very unique with a private garden. Dowside it that damn train right next to them. It went by too often.
That's Britain for you. Too many people in too small a space.
Great restoration that should see that building survive for another few hundred years. 99.9 % of people would not get involved in such a project, fair play to those who take such a monumental headache.
I love seeing these underappreciated buildings given a new life while celebrating their history.

Most women do love George. He is the perfect man in every way.
Beautiful place, but that poor man looks absolutely broken.
