always wanting to be "in for christmas"
And don’t forget getting pregnant during construction
Wow! Such an undertaking! Update please. We'd love to see the end product. NOTE: The music is louder than the speaker. Otherwise, very interesting stories. TYFS.
I'd love to see this project as it go down the road. It's unbelievably massive but I can feel the couples passion to make it into a family place. More future videos on this project please!
Uh oh, another couple who have massive debt and yup, let's add a child P.S. the cost to raise 1 child is now over 1 million dollars -
Would like see how much it is doingis it finished are they open up yet would like to see it if I could afford it
I really love these episodes. please update this one. It´s such an unusual place, very interesting. George, you´re the best!
I would LOVE to see this finished! This is just amazing what they've done so far.
like so many people I wanted to know how they progressed with the project, I have started searching and the latest I have found found is 2017 so my guess they are still going strong which is fantastic news as they really deserve to make the bunker the project of their dreams. I will update on this page when I find more but I did come across one short post that said"bed a breakfast at the WW II bunker at Watnall" which I thought was great news and very encouraging.
instablaster.
@@Peter-nv3wu Thanks for the news Peter!
Would love to see the finished bunker today!
I am a Canadian fan and would love to see the finished project. Love your show
I would visit this B&B 100%!! Please update on this one!! Love watching these restorations!! Great host!!
Absolutely fantastic content. I cannot wait for an update on this renovation restoration.
RADON must NOT be a problem there. It sure is here!
I too would love to see the final. Strength, courage, and lots of faith.
I really love this series. Not nearly as bad in this episode as some, but there is still the problem of bad sound mixing in places where the music drowns out the dialog. Hope that can be remedied going forward.
true true, often overly distracting and difficult to hear the voice over... no problem hearing the MUSIC
I think it's on purpose because of copyrights.
Its there in RUclips
Well these programs are just copies. I watched the original about ten years ago. Likely these copies were just remixed very quickly with no intention of matching the sound to it's intended levels.
@@Itsaboutthewaterlife it's done on purpose to mask the show
I hope there will be an update on this one.
I hope so too....till finished please :D
I wouldnt hold your breath. I have never seen him revisit an unfinished project on any of his shows.
This is also a really old video that has been reposted.
The episode is from 2014 and there's no new information since.
Google Watnall bunker, you'll find both a twitter account and a facebook page. It seems they are still working on the project, there are no special updates atm.
This is not a restoration, this is a commercial scale conversion. Impossible for a couple to do, this would be a corporation sized project.
Yep, that’s the reality.
Awesome job so far saving the history for the future
This by is the most amazing Restoration I've seen yet
So sad I only live 5 minutes away from here and I missed you George ❤😮
A lot of the time when background music is playing it's very difficult
To hear the comments,
Great project! I wish you and your family the very best.
Greetings from Mexico City 🇲🇽
Why is the music always sooo loud?? I truly love this series, but that music is always way too loud.
plot twist: there was never any music in these videos :(
Seems to be the norm for all their shows! Even the show Restoration Home when the host narrated they blare the music.
Has to do with copyrights. They put over different loud music to prevent the automated search from producers to copyright infringements. Without the loud noise, these videos would be flagged and the person who uploaded the video would need to pay a huge amount of money. They would not do that of course, so the video would be taken down. So although annoying, it's due to the bad music you are able to watch it. If there would be a choice: not being able to watch it or with the sound like this... I am sure happy to take the sound for granted and still being able to enjoy this show. (they could also take away the sound in those parts, but then also the voice over would be gone)
That bunker is the stuff that nightmares are made of. It wouldn't attract me in the least to spend holidays in a bunker; where's the light, the sea breeze, the swimming pool?
Thank you for providing the history lesson.
UPDATE ON THE CURRENT STATE: The building was never finished and was left as it is shown in the last scenes of the show.
The property is gated and seems to be owned by the same family but they might have had a change of plans.
Sad that the building is now ever more exposed to the elements and the over growth is back.
Any info on the main bunker under the mot test station?
@@markjwoodford1931Nothing's changed on that one. Still deep, dark and flooded.
Guessing it hasn’t changed any more?
Very sad if it wasnt finished.
@@cozycowfarm nope. it's the same. the incomplete works possible has accelerated the weakening of the structure if anything.
hate not seeing the end poduct
Love this series george! Bring us some more!,,,
Wow, such a beautiful way to preserve history. Great job!
I love this one and look forward to seeing an update I hope
I can’t wait to see it completed.
Amazing i hope there is more on this one.
What an undertaking!! An amazing achievement back in the day. Look forward to seeing the finished result.

Best one we've watched , should be given 1 million by the lottery fund no strings to help finish this more than worthwhile endeavour, we wish you all the best
I mean…why though? It just seems like such a strange way to build a home
How is the project progressing. This is a real cliff hanger.
Hope George shows us the end of this fab project... tks, July, 2020... quarentina days, 🇧🇷

Wow so jealous they got to go up in those beautiful planes!!!
me too.
Music is still drowning out the sound in some sections of the video. Please follow on an update; would love to know how this place turned out.
21:11 - No hard hat. No eye protection. No hearing protection. *cries in OSHA*
A lot of times England doesn't care just depends on which area!
no need for hard hats there. or ear muffs.
As far as I can tell, this appears to have failed. Their Twitter isn't active since 2014. It seems that there is no significant update to it after roughly 2017, and the website is down as well, and I can't find any other listings for the project. Such a shame it would've been lovely to see them succeed, especially with so much money put into it.
Be thankful for small mercies.
Now it no longer looks like a bunker, but an old factory of some sort. This does not seem like a restoration but a reconstruction.
Fantastic restoration, sad we didn't see the very end...☹😏.
another magnificent episode, simply marvelous 👌
Is it just me ,or is anyone else a bit put off with all the pessimism. I don't feel its entirely necessary for all the dramatic negativity. A balance would be more pleasant. Besides, I can see how the negativity does effect the owners of the property. They shouldn't have to strongly defend their choices. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoy to see the changes in all the episodes, very insightful.
No activity on their Facebook page nor web site in over 5 years :(
Every single one of these episodes have the couples saying they hope to be in by Christmas. So unrealistic! Glad George sets them straight.
That bunker in the sea is perfect for the zombie apocalypse
I agree with jukes243 .... the music is too loud, it drowns out George speaking on the video so we can't hear what he is saying. Fascinating bit of history about the bunkers in the 2nd W War.
I would love an update, because searching for information on this present day, I have found new pictures or information.
This is 3yrs ago. Is there a follow-up video to this?
Been in that 25 years ago.. before restoration..
Woah!!!
What about the biggest one the main on under the mot test station?
@@markjwoodford1931 been in most of the buildings around watnall airdrone, including some off the Rolls Royce buildings, on an open day. But have never been that.. all over if you know where to look there is loads of relics of ww2. Would love to do a guided tour to some urbexers.. but my rheumatoid arthritis might prevent me..
I had this vision of the guests fast asleep and then an air raid siren starts.
Amazing!!
I love how George is like, “oh yes wine please”
22:00 I have GOT to get one of those!!
Lovely series, altough id like to see more of the construction and less conversation, its just a wee bit too much
Agreed!!!
Update!!
They played the wrong music when the two of the were up in the planes, they should have played the title music from the film 633 Squadron very loud, that really makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck, that reminds me I need a haircut before the Lockdown on the 5th HeHe
My first thought: tons n tons of skylights and glass floors.
Not many wives would support this type of an undertaking. Jamie is darned lucky Jane signed on the the ride.
Am curious as to why the outside brickwork gradually turns blacker and blacker. What's going on?
He sounds like Gordon Ramsey minus the roasts
Is it not the government to support in some way for the restoration as appreciation n encouragement! I wonder!
love to se it now
On one end, I’m happy it’s getting a second chance, on the other, it’s being taken far from what it was originally. It’s not my property, so I won’t complain too much.
Is the bunker finished? Want to see the next phase!
any updates?
When is there an update? Was the project completed?
I join the many other voices pleading for the next stage of this restoration project.
Background music and sound effects too loud and over shadow the commentary. Great story and hopefully will be continued.
Did they ever get it finished gie us an update please
What happened? Update 2020 !
ya it would be nice if there was a 2020 update ,
They sold it??? NOOOOOoooo!
They divorced.
@@360nastybusiness People always say that
Still not enough very loud music, I can still hear the occasional word.
Does anyone know what happened to this project?
They need to hire Someone to make the outside better landscaping
well yeah... really no point until they are done though right.
It seems like the guy lost his mojo when George took him to the restored fort to show him he also needed to make his B&B high-class. From the sick look on his face, I don’t think he’d intended to. But, if he wants repeat guests and new stays after the first 18 - 24 months, he’s going to have to. It reminds me of the guy who bought an abandoned oil drilling structure in the middle of the ocean, with plans as a B&B. I don’t think he’d thought much in terms of money about the interior furnishings and just moved in cheap, odds and ends furniture and pieces, kind of just thrown in, causing it to look like a basement storage area. People only tried it for the novelty and never came back, plus, would’ve told their friends and posted low ratings on travel sites. He eventually gave up the project.
someone has not fit those windows right, condensation building up on the inside, cowboys man
They’ve just plastered and painted, it’s bound to be damp inside
He may still have a problem in the basement the water that was in the basement maybe from that spring and if I were you I would get that spring capped and use it as part of the water system in the bed and breakfast if it turns out to be pure and doesn't belong to anybody else
I noticed too!
Are you going to take us back and see the finished project?
Where is the sequel? Is the b&b open yet?
How were the brick openingd for the windows supported?
Say what you will, but... in today's world, they may be thinking about safety as well.
Anyone got an Update??
I'm surprised with the lack of mold. This is being fortunate as many restorations start with very poor foundations where more problems surface. You have more than a solid start and no worries of it falling in before you get done. Best of luck to you.
Mold generally requires an organic substance to feed on. With the entire bunker being metal, concrete, and masonry, there are just fewer things that attract mold growth.
@@mollymorgan8652 Interesting Thank you.
After restoring a WW11 bunker ....... is it then "debunked"? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nicely done.
😳😳😳
WW11? U mean, WWII?
Chris Needham - That wasn’t me. 🧐
@@shipmint5487 ........ U mean? ..... you mean
And so, how does it look now, in January 1st., 2021? It must be, absolutely gorgeous, I know. Still, curiosity got the better of me...
Apparently they have never finished it...?!
It's difficult to understand why local governments make renovation of these old, historic buildings so difficult. Very narrow thinking.
the music is too loud
Many of these stories... are not happy.
That's the way George/producers present these stories. A lady in one episode actually made a comment in the comment section and she thanked everyone for the comments and wanted to clear the air and said it wasn't any where near as dismal as George presented it. She said they all had a blast and her incompetent husband, as George presented him as, was actually a master carpenter and completed the house on time and on budget......It's a heavily scripted program.
@Libby Berman are you serious????!!!
@Libby Berman sorry, i meant it in the way of wow! That is really sad!
Should have consulted the structural engineer first thing. I saw that problem with sawing the walls coming a mile away... I would disagree with his conclusion however.
Did they ever finish by it?
Have you ever thought about time lapping a project?
TURN DOWN THE MUSIC OR ELIMINATE IT, CANNOT HEAR THE NARRATION
fromthe views of google maps look like is abandoned :(
Hi Amanda, can you reply with the link? Thanks.
@@harbourdogNL sorry i carnt i just looked around on google maps so sorry
Fort Boyard?
Work on the music drowning out the host 🙄
Please decrease the music. I went to hear the whole thing.
The music is drowning out the narrative!!
Got a really loose definition on the term restoration when it comes to this one.
Did you go back??
Poor wife. Its horrible, no place for a family to live.
There is a Twitter account called @watnallbunker but it's inactive since 2014...
The end product? Maybe going bankrupted? It is a huge job! Which means a lot of money.
