  • This is our second game in this week's tournament. We've finally found our feet in the new meta and It's all good fun. Tourney games are what I really enjoy, when everyone's giving it their all! Here we get to see how a top tier player plays into a Giant Specialist effectively and efficiently.
    Hope you enjoy watching as always. Anything you think I've done wrong or could do better please let me know, I'm always looking to improve both my gameplay and the video quality. Suspect there's quite a few epic fails here!

    Hey, that's me, Sparty! Nice playing you. Somebody told me they recognized me from a video against you! Keep up the great work!

      Also, just watched the video. It's really cool to hear from your perspective and I think you nailed it. I kept buying chaff as I was trying to get you to go vulcans. My plan was melting points all along. The boat was the bonus but when it was no longer viable, it was an easy +600. If you ever want to 1v1 for fun, let me know! Your videos are great, by the way.

      Awesome! Love it when opponents get to see the game from our perspective. Big thanks dude, feel like I learned a lot playing you!
      I'm away visiting family this week but will happily cross blades again next week. I tend to warm up for tournies with custom games with friends, would be great to have your experience in the mix too! There's a teeny tiny discord in the link if you're comfy playing with voice coms.

    I never cared about this game, but since i found you two days ago this has been my series to binge.
    Really love how you try to put all your thoughts into words so we know what is going on.
    Never watched mechabellum before, but even i have the feeling i have a solid grasp of what is going on after a few videos.
    And i really like your calm, collected and analytic demeanor. Trying to learn from every encounter and taking losses and wrong decisions as lessons.
    That and your voice, it's like asmr ro me :)

    Such a great learning game! My thinking differs starting turn 2, getting tanks. I observe tanks to get crunched by storms, and if my units are getting crunched I'd prefer them to be fangs. Really tho I think you called it out, the shields on turn 3 sunk your econ and he just had more stuff/too many problems eventually. That, and the predictive MPs were killer. A very solid oponent, a very tough opening comp to go up against, tough sledding the whole way, very emotional match!

      Yeah looking back I wasn't happy with my decision making here - glad it was recorded so I could learn from it properly but wish I'd played better on the day!

      Cheers dude, tell myself we can learn more from losses than wins but we have to swallow our pride and own up to what we did wrong if we want to get the benefits.

    It felt to me that range on sledges was mistake, you knew it and did it anyway :) Or maybe I am just projecting :)

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, I have a bad habit of trying to force carry tanks because it's fun when it works! But it rarely works unless you're already comfortably ahead. Part of me knew it was a bad idea but sometimes you have to take risks when you're behind to catch up, this one definitely didn't pay off though!

    "Just because you like a unit dosnt mean you should play a unit"
    Me when playing sledges is suboptimal 😢
    On the subject of tanks, i keep hearing that carry sledges need range. But i have always prefered to go for mech rage + regen or armor. They seemed to carry me well enough withput getting range. I mostly kept it as an option alongside emp in case an enemy to tanks with range and emp. Ive also honestly never cared for the tank range card either, the cost in durability has always felt too high.

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, armor on tanks is great - and tanks are defo one of my mainstay units. Spoilers for videos to come out later this week but they carry me with armor in a few games to come later in the tournament!
      The advice to get range and rage was mainly for playing the extended range tank card, because it sacrifices a big chunk of their hp for the bonus range so you might as well keep them on the backline and screen with extra chaff while they go about blowing everything to bits for you.

    • @volodymyrboitchouk
      @volodymyrboitchouk 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@Drone_101 I guess my contention would be that the extended range card is bad unless if you are in a carry sledge vs carry sledge situation where both you and your opponent have the range and emp upgrades. Otherwise the tankiness of sledges is one of their most useful traits and not worth sacrificing for a little range, especially when they have mech rage so closing the distance isn't really a problem.

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  6 месяцев назад

      @@volodymyrboitchouk I can't argue with that. My experiences pretty much match up your own but I love trying to carry with tanks so I often find myself forcing range when it really isn't the way to go 🥲

    • @volodymyrboitchouk
      @volodymyrboitchouk 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@Drone_101 I guess what I'm trying to say is that range just dosnt make tanks better at carying. Mech rage is the premier carry tech for sledges, followed by either durability upgrade. Sledges are a big ball of stats, it's what makes them good. Going range on them in most cases just turns them into worse carry arclights imo. Range is extremely circumstantial, but I always have it available because circumstances where it is necessary do pop up and I'd rather not be caught with my pants down.
