  • We're going up against Bluehair (Wakayasu/Ruo An), World Number 10 - one of the best players in Mechabellum. He's an absolute beast who loves playing Giants and War Factories, hopefully we weather the storm!
    Anything you think I've done wrong or could do better please let me know, I'm always looking to improve both my gameplay and the video quality. Thanks again for watching!

    Sorry about the dead air at the end of the video, let's pretend it's an intentional anti-spoiler edit. Editing DRN will be flogged appropriately.

    Answering the real questions this game "How many missiles does it take to get the center of 6 Overlords" and the answer is "Yes"
    I wasnt sure if it was going to work, but it turned the tides so hard and fast not even a few level ups saved the overloads. The roaring engines of the Overloads hovering over the field, confident in their air superiority, were ill prepared for the horizon to darken even at their height, fear quick rang amuck as hulls were battered until the sky ships gave out.
    That last round perfectly to the letter calling out what you thought they were going to and countered it beautifully. Wheels within wheels, but you just pulled the key cog out of the machine and watched it all shut down.
    Edits on point as always, those red arrows are a life saver on figuring out what to look for on screen.
    Wishing you the best of luck and all the Sledgehammers!

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  20 дней назад +1

      Filling the horizon, west to east and east to west,
      a wall of missiles approached, a hundred abreast.
      The desperate clatter of the gunners tried to stop the few they could,
      but the end comes, this they understood.
      And now we stand alone, this is our reward.
      The roaring and the flames, all that remains of our Overlord.

    I had always assumed 'Bluehair' was Chinese, which would make the pronunciation of their name 'Ruo An'. It could also be Japanese though, true. Both languages use that set of characters. Regardless of name, great game! Taking on the heavy hitters. Would love to see you play Sara...

      Oooh you may well be right! I made the assumption based on the Anime avatar but that may have muddied the waters for me. Sara dodges me on the ladder and doesn't play tournaments often, or maybe we've just been unlucky and not crossed paths when they are playing.

      It's a great game but does have a steep learning curve and can be quite intense as a 1v1 autobattler so just know what you're getting yourself in for! It is great fun though.
      You can play 1v1s vs AI while you're learning, 2v2s are a bit less pressured if you want because you've got a team mate to blame ;D and there's a survival mode vs waves of AI that's quite fun too and will familiarise you with all the units. Hope that helps and if you do pick it up I look forward to meeting you in a tourney one day :D

    Great comeback and a very insightful game. I didnt know that taking the card is enough to elimate a unit from showing up in the random drops. I always thought you had to place one too besides unlocking.

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  22 дня назад

      Thanks dude. Yeah, they said you had to buy a unit to prevent it showing up in the cards when the cards launched but testing shows unlocked units wont appear unless there aren't enough other locked unit options for it to offer instead.

    Interesting, I wouldn't have thought the AA barrage would be so effective. Even with so many fortresses firing them, it was less than half of each overlord's hp per volley. You weren't countering them in a 'make them useless' sense, just in a 'they aren't ignored' kind of way. If that makes sense?

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  18 дней назад

      AA Barrage is a pretty hard counter to most air units (excluding maybe Wraiths with Regen). If you think about it, getting half of an Overlords HP as free damage from each Fortress every 10 seconds is a lot of bonus DPS from a single tech! Adding onto that it's also against an enemy type that the Forts can't normally interact with and it's incredibly potent. Think it's a must-pick even though I've been wavering for a while since the Overlords were nerfed quite a bit.

  • @RoughDayTeam
    @RoughDayTeam 21 день назад +1

    So when you unlock a unit it won't show up in the cards?

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  21 день назад +1

      Yep! It gets dropped in priority so it's much less likely to show unless other units have already been taken. I don't know the exact %numbers but it works.
      A common strat as Giant specialist is to unlock MPs when you place your Forts to prevent free MPs showing up, or unlock Forts when you place Vulcans to stop their counter appearing.

    Is this the same tournament as the battle from yesterday (creator of the game). If so, I know a loss is less fun to put online, but is there another reason you skipped the second game with your uploads? Just wondering 😊

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  21 день назад +2

      Hey! Sorry, I lost the first game vs Sauron actually, not the second. Frustratingly it was a great game that went to 25+ minutes, almost full time. Long and detailed explanation bellow, feel free to ignore it but I figured you're asking so you're interested and hope it helps!
      The way I've been recording is using Shadowplay to record the last 20 minutes at a go (the max Shadowplay lets your record in a segment) because it gets the best picture quality with the least impact on gameplay for my system. When I get really into a long, close game I miss my 20 minute alarm (which has to be silent to not get picked up on Mic so is pretty easy to miss) and then end up losing footage. I've tried using OBS in the past to record but get dropped frames and stutters recording at 1440p with it because my CPU isn't quite strong enough. This video itself even has stutters even when recorded by Shadowplay which have me a tad worried, hopefully it was a one off.
      It might not look it but summarising any missing early round footage with an info graphic and a talk over takes by far the largest amount of editing time of anything I do. And those videos also have a lower viewer retention rates, understandably. People don't want to watch me talking about what happened, they want to see it, which is totally fine. Those "it's a long game so we'll dive straight into the action" openers are me explaining I've missed the start because the game went long and I missed my alarm at 20 :(
      That game against Sauron I missed the full first five minutes plus change. Think my footage begins in the middle of combat round 4. Normally when this happens I throw out the entire tournament's footage because I'm not able to show the whole tourney. This avoids me biasing the games I pick to being "only the wins" and keeps things interesting for viewers following the whole tourney and seeing both the wins and losses. Think I learn more from the losses than the wins but it can be hard as Editing DRN to watch me make gormless mistakes :D
      Normally it's not an issue. I play several tournaments a week, it hurts having to throw out the footage of one but I accept it to maintain the quality of the videos. Here I did a bit of agonising and soul searching, because there were so many great games that I didn't want to throw away and decided to accept that I'd just have to start with the game against Bearlike. Sorry, know it sucks not seeing the whole journey through an intense tourney but missing the first four rounds of a game isn't acceptable for me to make it into a video. Starting the journey in game 2 was compromise that felt best here. I probably should have explained all this in a video but really it's a me problem that I don't want to burden or bore viewers with, most viewers don't want to hear about editing or recording problems they just want to see the game footage and watch giant mechs blast each other to smitherines!
      To fix things going forwards I've started recording in 10 minute chunks instead but that has now added the stutters and frame drops into the Shadowplay footage while it encodes(?) and moves the footage. If it's during pre-round where I'm buying units you'll barely notice it, sometimes there'll just be slightly jerky camera movements which are mainly only visible to me the player when frame rate dips below 60. If it's during combat then you get the weird time dilation effect where things hang for a fraction of a second then accelerate to catch back up.
      Sorry for the crazy long answer to a simple question! I always try to be as transparent as possible and don't want you thinking I'm cherry picking games on purpose. Many of my best videos have been my losses. See the Demon Unkillable Arclight game :D but thanks for noticing and asking, hope this is a good enough explanantion and please to accept my apology, I don't want to lose footage ever, I put a lot of effort into recording these and it hurts throwing footage out.

      @@Drone_101 Wauw that was an indept respons! Thanks a lot. I just finished watching all your videos this week and noticed that not all tournements were complete, leading to my question :). I love watching both the wins and losses. Thanks again for the nice reply.

      @@zeevisserm2 No worries dude, if a tourney is incomplete I either didn't make the cut, lost footage and hated myself or had a bye round with no opponent.
      Sometimes I must admit I've just run out of time for editing and another better tourney comes up that I'd rather publish while it's fresh, I do try and avoid dropping tournies part way through when I can though. Only so many hours in the day sadly!
      One week we had a bug where the whole tourney crashed, you'll see my bug report on the Mechabellum discord :D
