First band I ever really got into as a little kid, before Kindergarten age. First musicians that made me think of music as something that I knew I HAD TO DO one day, not just something 'cool' or something interesting or 'nice' to listen to.
Dire Straits was big in Australia. Booked to play 4 concerts in Sydney and Melbourne. Sold out within hours so added more concerts. They did 11 concerts before Sydney people would let them leave to go south to Melbourne where they , not to be outdone , performed 12 concerts. The energy was electric. I’m now 70, and still remember those days.
I’m also 70 and was at one of the Sydney concerts. Just the best! The energy, the vibe, the musicianship, and that quiet shy smile of Mark’s? I was smitten then and still a fan!
One of the best straight-up Rock and Roll songs ever written, in a terrific live performance by my favorite group, led by Mark with his iconic red Telecaster. It's a great song to listen to, and always a crowd pleaser! Thank you all for this great musical treasure.
This is probably one of the most lively performances Dire Straits have ever done, together with Walk Of Life from Sydney '86. On The Night's version is great but you can't deny the huge amount of energy they had when they performed Walk Of Life in the 80's.
It was a huge hit. That brought joy with the awesome synth riff blended with a heavy rock guitar... great base and spot on drum beat. What a band and tour this was. Alchemy is mb the best live album ever.
My dear deceased brother loved U guys. Whenever I listen to U I recall him. Such a pleasure and a blessing to feel this although some tears still drop, but not of sorrow, but of the joy to recall all the good moments we shared ❤. Tks always guys for your music 🤘🎵
I get a cramp watching how he holds his hand, all folded under like that my son plays guitar and he’s just like that’s gotta be hard as heck specially, for a long concert
Alright, this is where Wembley does the walk. Now I know they don’t let you stand up in this place, but if you all do there’s nothing they can do about it!
How great Jack Sonni was on that tour, giving it his all, and playing barefoot on some occasions, he loved the guitar. Mark and Jack, like Mark and Phil Palmer in OES, the best of the best
I’d settle for just this full show! But yeah, would be great to have a BIA live DVD. I believe no multi-tracks are available from the tour though, so I don’t think it will happen. These official cleaned up videos are great though 😃
Ah, you must be a youngin' - LOL. The 60's was a turning point. 1967 was a peak in music, then came the early 70's with Floyd, ELO, Moody Blues, et el. Others followed and did amazing things like Dire Straights. More is to come. Remember this my friend, there were such greats as Mozart, Beethoven, The Duke, Satchmo, Parker, Bessie, that shaped where we are now.
I love seeing and hearing these older live recordings! The Live 1978-1992 albums have been on repeat for me since their release! Thanks so much for these wonderful recordings! Edit: typo.
Without a doubt this is the best group of Dire Straits band members ever, the Brothers in Arms Tour group, Mark, Jack Sonni, (RIP) John Illsley, Guy Fletcher, Alan Clark, Chris White, & Terry Williams. And you gotta love Jack Sonni's blue suede boots!
@@AdamBiggers81 From the original lineup, Mark and David Knopfler are from Blyth (near Newcastle upon Tyne), whilst John Illsley and Pick Withers are from Leicester. Later arrival Alan Clark is from County Durham. Hal Lindes (who replaced David Knopfler) is from Monterey, California. Terry Williams (who replaced Pick Withers) is from Swansea. Guy Fletcher (added to the band in 1984) is from Maidstone. Jack Sonni (who replaced Hal Lindes) was from Taylor, Mississippi. There were many more musicians who acted as session and/or touring artists but were never official members.
I Beatles stanno al mondo come i Roling Stones stanno al Regno Unito come Mark Knopfler sta a Londra. Ringrazio Iddio di aver vissuto tanto da godere di tutto questa immortale musica
Dire Straits always has their unique sound of music.
Come On admit it that everyone loves Mark Dire Straits - 🌎 Globally

I saw them at the King George V oval in Hobart. The place was absolutely full. One could scare my move. It was that packed. An incredible evening !
It would be nice to see Mark and the boys back together again for one more concert
they actually performed 21 in Sydney
I’m also 70 and was at one of the Sydney concerts. Just the best! The energy, the vibe, the musicianship, and that quiet shy smile of Mark’s? I was smitten then and still a fan!
He was the master of the strat, telecaster and the Les Paul
And never laid a pick on the strings. Magic fingers on that right hand.
@@tenaciousb7868 While being left handed.... extremely impressive! Truly the best guitarist of all time in terms of raw skill :)
He IS
Great…just great…nothing else need be said. A R & R anthem for sure. Timeless.
Super Show. Das waren noch Zeiten. 🎉😊
Yes they were.
I’m only 28, but this has to be one of the coolest tunes of all time

Without doubt Mark Knopfler is a brilliant guitarist

One of my dad's favorite songs, RIP Dad, You'll always be missed🥲🙏❤
Sorry for your loss
@@remondijk, I appreciate that.
your dad was a legend for showing you good music.
@MrHyde.. but you always didn't like their songs, right? Just your dad who liked them. Heartfelt story though.
Sorry for your loss, same with my dad he loved this song so much. He was there in fact lol. Just lost him last month❤️❤️
Knopfler has EXCELLENT rhythm playing 😮💨
Jack Sonni (RIP) on rhythm guitar is great too
This song got me to Dire Straits. So nostalgic of a song!
I luv the keyboards in this song!
Wonderful keyboard players

hope we get a brothers in arms live boxset on cd dvd covering a few of the shows from this tour

If I recall correctly, this show was broadcast on HBO in the states so just releasing that on a Deluxe Brothers set would be amazing.
This is the song of my Glory Days.
Band was on fire !

@kentkarlstrom8993 It's hard to pick just one, but I've been loving the On The Night version of Brothers in Arms.

Ah gençliğim.Oh my youth.
Picked up "Brothers in Arms" when it was first released. Didn't know what it was, but was absolutely blown away(to put it mildly).
This reminds me of much better days.
I don’t normally watch songs played live but I can’t stop listening to this.
This is one of those songs where you can just party like never before. One of my favorite songs
Dance as if nobody can see you. Always.
Coś pięknego, dziękuję za ten utwór☺️👍
I was shocked when I learned they were from London. I grew up thinking they were a southern rock band.
They were formed in London but none of the band members were Londoners.
@markydh83 where are they from? Not the USA, right?

@markydh83 either way, I really thought they were from Louisiana or somewhere in the deep south. Crazy. You taught me something today 😄
I love this band. Mark is genius and Jack Sonni and John Illsey really bring a special kind of energy.❤
