      The theming is mostly the queue. Once you leave the station it's non-existent. They could at least tunnel the spike or some other elements and put some LED's in there to amplify the acceleration experience.

    3:03 As a fan of Star Trek the Next Generation, that room looks so awesome! I think my heart would skip a beat walking through there. I enjoy hangtime on coasters, so I would like that aspect of the ride, but it doesn't seem that it would be as good as Copperhead Strike.

  • @carlosmarx2380

    I really like the ride. There sure are some better coasters in my area, and I think they could've made the pre show more immersive, but overall, it's a really solid ride and it's cool to have something like that at a park that otherwise tends to feature smaller coasters (plus the two really old ones)
    I love Movie Park for it's themed indoor attractions tho, like Van Helsing, Studios Tour, or Area 51
    But Star Trek is always a must, since it's a movie themed park after all and if that's what you like, you will certainly enjoy seeing the star trek bridge set. They even got the original set designers from the show out if retirement to redo the building plans

      Honestly it felt a bit underwhelming after being to Phantasialand and also other European parks having higher standards. Maybe that also had to do with how they made the queue, there was an employee halfway that made sure the queue didn't extend towards the sets meaning you could only shortly walk past them. So you're mostly just staring at white/grey walls (or the props from afar). At first I thought there would be some kind of preshow due to the employee being there.

    Share your thoughts on this coaster. Though I would rank it at a 7/10. The hangtime is fun and even though the pacing isn't great it is what makes this coaster different. My first time on this was backseat and like yourself completely taken by surprise by that reverse spike, absolutely loving the whipping float. This was a well needed ride for the park.
    I had fond memories of this park from when I was a kid, still under the IP's of Warner Brothers (Lethal Weapon, Gremlins, The Never Ending Story, Wild Wild West RIP). Visiting the park this summer after not having been there for well over a decade I felt awkward about it. The competition is fearse for this park with some amazing parks nearby. It has potential but man does it have a lot of work to be done.

    I rode it on last Friday and I really enjoyed the hangtime and the two ejector pops in the back. It's just a coaster you can ride all day.
    It's interesting that you point out, that the lap bars close further during the ride, because I was so surprised that they didn't. 😅

    As a huge Star Trek TNG fan, I love that they put a lot of effort into theming the plaza, queue, and station, but I wouldn't have given this coaster the Star Trek theme. Let me explain:
    I don't know the ride's "story", but star trek is about exploring space, and and this ride just looks like a ride on earth, and there doesn't appear to be any theming on the ride itself, except for the transfer track at the beginning. I would have preferred the coaster to be more of an indoor coaster, or a dark ride, as I think those would have fit Star Trek better.
    There have been Star Trek Themed attractions before. Nighthawk at Carowinds used to be called Borg Assimilator when Paramount moved Stealth there. It didn't have much theming, but there was a crashed borg ship near the corkscrews if I recall. Kind of makes me wish paramount put more star trek into the Paramount Parks.
    Then of course there was Star Trek The Experience in Vegas. Two good dark simulation rides, and the Quarks bar replica. Makes me sad it was shut down with the Paramount Parks selloff....

    • @carlosmarx2380
      @carlosmarx2380 2 года назад +1

      The plot is that you're a space cadet who just entered Spacefleet Academy. You proceed to do a simulation of a flight with enterprise, but before launchin, a man on the screen appears telling you that some crew members got kidnapped or something like that, and then you ride the coaster "to save them"
      Yeah, doesn't work too well, but it's enough in my opinion haha
      After all it's a huge coasters that can't be themed at all parts, if you're not universal or disney
      I really like the ride but I still see lots of potential. The IP will expire in 2027, I hope they renew it and also refurbish the ride to have a more immersive story and theming elements
      And i think the plaza facades could be better. I don't really understand why they even created a plaza for the ride. It used to be a part of the Santa Monica Pier area, and the facades were just normal street buildings, that actually looked good. I don't get why they created an unnecessary area that only contains one ride. They simply could've made the entrance to star trek part of the street theming and make it into a cinema, in wich you ride the movie. Simple as that haha

    From your description of it, and knowing how the propulsion system functions? My guess is that the last launch is turned down to conserve power and that is why its crawling. Its going over the first top hat too slow and that is affecting the rest of the layout. Just a hunch from an engineering perspective. Im betting you do not feel much force at all from the third launch.

    Startrek is really nice, but as a Main attraction it lacks in sheer tracklength for me. And the Layout doesnt compliment this issue - i feel like the coaster has 4 "starts". Rolling onto the Switch track is a cool hype Moment with the Sound and lighteffects, it would be perfect to just straight up launch from there. Anyway, you get the actual First launch later, and think "finally it gets going" - but then it goes Back and Shoots you on the spike, which going down feels like the First drop of the coaster. "Now it starts"! But then there is straight track... and you go up the top hat, get really slow, and THEN finally drop into the Layout. From going out the Station to this point of the ride there is a lot of time passing, but it feels like the ride starts right there for me. And from there on its... well, short.
    I Think Gertslauer could have worked something out in the same Area which is more main-attraction-worthy
    Edit: Sad that you didnt experience the Pre show, it is really cool how and unique since you not watch a Film
    Edit 2: The GP often compares Star trek to Taron (since the Parks are kinda close) and many say star trek is the better one

  • @shaodynasty1017
    @shaodynasty1017 2 года назад

    I have to firmly disagree with you on Copperhead Strike has weird pacing. I think it's actually really intense, the only moments it slows down you want it to slow down (ie. hangtime in the loops and jojo roll). But The airtime is intense, there are really whippy stengal dive-like maneuvers. If you ride it in the summer on a hot day after its warmed up, that thing will launch you out of your seat over and over. I think it's actually #2 in the park behind Fury.

    The building inbetween is themed after a borg cube, out of the Star Trek universe. However, it‘s too fast to be recognized. It also was meant to be in a constant artificial fog which didn‘t work out at the end, that‘s why it feels a little out of place.

  • @rivertownproductions

    I respect why you ranked Operation Enterprise so low, but I wonder if being a fan of trek would affect the ride experience. I’m a huge fan of Star Trek and this is near the top of my bucket list over some of the other major coasters in Europe BECAUSE it’s a Star Trek coaster. Yeah the layout isn’t as good as other coasters but the theme is fantastic! (Even if it’s not as good as Disney theming it looks amazing!) I mean literally to be on the bridge of the USS Enterprise herself would be any Trek fans dream!
    Also I wonder if the building you go through is meant to be a Borg cube? (A borg cube is the square thing you see outside the Enterprises viewport when you’re on the bridge. Long story short in TNG they are extremely dangerous, but I won’t go in depth to avoid spoilers (because you really should check out TNG Taylor! Last I checked it’s still on Netflix!)

      I dont think that rough is the right expression but for the example of Star Trek the coaster got shaky pretty fast. As somebody who lives close to the ride, and grew up with Startrek TNG.
    I'm somewhat disappointed in the ride.
    The que gets your expectations up with the Disney/Universal quality of theming, as soon as you sit down into the train the theming drops off the edge. And you are left with a ok intense ride by mack.
    Some indor highly themed coaster like Rock'n'Roll at Disney would have been better fitting, for a show that I suppose to be in the final frontier Space. And so many possible potential what you could have done since there is enough the show has to offer.
    But what did we get a supposed "Borg cube fly trough" that is a 10 by 10 by 10 meter area that is painted black and a cheap green laser light show on the inside. That's a damn insult.
