    Feels like RCCA's sole purpose of existence was to provide inspirations for RMC

    • @TonyKimtheamusementparkfan
      @TonyKimtheamusementparkfan Год назад +8

      RCCA cut corners on producing their wood coasters, and wanted to make profit from them. Hence why their rides are not very good in quality and layout, especially when it came to the track gauge. Their track probably aged extremely fast because of the poorly built structure that is not proper. Plus, they didn't build them to the standards of wood coasters that we see today.

    Honestly, i have ridden this thing so many times that it became somehow a coaster i look forward to when visiting Movie Park. It so painful that it becomes almost fun again, hiting the final brake run and see who of your friends is in most pain is always hella funny. Its a really bad wooden coaster but i still ride it a couple of times every time i visit.

    Movie Park is very close to where I live, so I've ridden this countless times.
    And I agree.... this ride is absolutely horrible. But I still enjoy it.
    I usually visit this park with some close friends who are also into rollercoasters and this ride is almost like a meme-coaster for us that we ride ironically. We even willfully choose to sit in the roughest rows (front row in this case), and we always have the time of our lives when we ride it. Riding a horribly rough rollercoaster with your friends and bracing for impact before every drop is sort of like a bonding experience. It's like the extreme version of watching a trash movie.
    So, if you visit this park with friends, give this ride a chance. It's bad, but it can still be enjoyable (because it's bad).
    fun fact: This ride is so rough, it once broke my phone

    I have been there last week. And there was a woman next to me on one flat ride she said: “I prefer to go to bandit, because I like the smoothness of the coaster”. She was comparing it to the local SLC (that is at least equipped with some padded restraints) and is one of the smoother SLCs out there.
    I rode bandit in the front row, expecting it to be the “smoothest” row in that thing. But it always felt like the track was trying to throw off the train. I didn’t like it and I didn’t gave it a chance on any other row, since I expected it to become even worse.

  • @Koaster-Kritik
    @Koaster-Kritik Год назад +9

    The trains were switched as the old trains had the same distance between the wheels as the bends of the structure, causing very intense jolts in the valleys. They updated to new trains and actually added more bends to try to mitigate the problem, which partially worked.
    Non-axis seats are kind of bearable, but really just kind of. Best way to ride this: Don‘t ride this.
    PS: I heard that Parques Reunidos do not want the ride RMCd because it wouldn’t be suited for the family audience anymore. As if getting hit a dozen times is „family friendly“

      And as if they don’t have enough family coasters in the Park. Jimmy Neutrons Atomic Flyer, MP Studio Tour, SB Ghost Chasers, Backyardigans : Mission to Mars and even Van Helsing‘s Factory is countable as family coaster. Compare this to Parque Warner and I would say they have much more thrill coasters.

    The worst thing is that this ride is actually noticeably smoother than it used to be. Back in 2015 this was my first big roller coaster and even though it was a joy to finally conquer my fear of roller coasters, this left me with such a headache that for the longest time I'd never want to ride it again. Did it though about a month ago and I wasn't quite as beat up, but it still sucks.

    I can vouch for that if you do sit in a non-wheel seat, it’s not particularly rough (I rode it both this year and last year), but it definitely struggles over some of those hills. The squealing noise it makes just makes me feel bad for it, lol.

    But the park is not into investing so much... they have their "normal" guests and they are happy with it.
    (I worked there about 6 years ago)

  • @kazio6303
    @kazio6303 Год назад +4

    The reasoning the intimin trians were replaced whit different ones is that the wheel spacing of the intamin trains was the same dimension of the track ti spacing (the perpendicular beams under the running rail). At the time of building bandit there are no know instances where this resulted in problems. At the places were the track ties are placed the track is a lot stiffer then on sections were no track ties are. It can be compared to going over a speed bump every couple of feet. This led to ecesive wear on the track an the train julting up and down (even a universety was brought in to determan the problem).The Premier trains thet were brought in had a longer wheel base so the wheels didn’t go over the ties at the same time redusing wear.
    To ad to your point at 4:30 “if there is a sertain way you have to ride this ride in order to enjoy it is just is not a well made rollercoaster”. If that is the case then flying coasters arn’t well made coasters. Both on FLY and on Galactica I didn’t have a great first ride beacuse of the way i rode it. And whit all coasters, if there is the option of a non wheel seat thats always the smoother (and somwhat tamer) compared to wheel seats. And whit older wooden coasters you just souldn’t expect a smooth ride.
    “But thats a vekoma SLC you know what to expect” I would argeu if you know of the disaster that was RCCA you should also know what to expect.
    Am i of the opinion they shouldn’t RMC it? no the definitly should. A great thrill coaster in that park is definitly needed. Star track is fun, but it is just disapointing for a mack launch coaster (compaired to Bleu fire and Icon). But whit the recent develpment of the RMC family coasters, I could see them going for that. Bandit would reamain a famly friendly ride that way, but maintance sould decrease while also resulting in a smother ride.

    The park has said that they do not want to RMC it because it's not worth it to them since it is not as important for their main target audience, so that's not going to happen. They are reatracking sections of it each year, but the improvements are honestly hard to notice, if at all. It's a bit of a lost case. What you *can* say about it though, is that it is … memorable. And honestly, that's probably why there are still people who like it, who are mostly not roller coaster enthusiasts. It's a rough ride and you definitely get a "phew, i made it!" like after doing something scary… i guess there's something to say about awfuly unpleasant coasters requiring a different kind of courage and provide their own flavor of adrenaline rush.

    Is it rough? Yes it is but it still has some good floater airtime and if you don‘t sit on wheels (like you said) it is much much better. I do not know why some people perceive this ride as painfull rather than just unpleasent but I guess we‘re all a little different.
    I totally agree on the RMC part though: Currently the park thinks that this coaster is beloved especially by families (it is a family park) but that is definitly not the case! I think a great compromise would be to turn it into a less extreme „family RMC“. RMC wanted to enter the family market for a few years now so that would be a win-win-situation

      Maybe. I can totally see them perhaps taking the twisted cyclone layout but removing the inversions and replacing them with something else. Heck maybe even keep the inversions in, the park recently got movie park studios, an excellent family coaster, theybcould probably justify turning bandit into a thrilling inverting RMC. Heck again the twisted cyclone layout is right there so it could be done easily while saving a fair bit of money on the design phase

      RMC also offers 1-1 steel redos of the track. So you can keep the Original Layout and even the Original trains, it only gets smooth and reliable. But nobody does that

    I actually really love this ride, somehow I like roughness on wooden coasters, just getting shaken around and there was a airtime hill on bandit that was shaking so much, it felt so weird and unique, that was really fun

    I am curious about this Bandit coaster and I have a hunch Montezum is equally rough or possibly rougher. I rode it a couple weeks ago and it may have given some unintended spinal adjustments

    The train only slows down at the top of lift hill when the other train is still on the track. Sometimes you come to a complete standstill, e.g. when it comes to rollback. If there is only one train on a day, then it does not brake on the lift hill

    I hear that Coaster Express is much, MUCH worse than this one. It uses the Intamin Pre-fab trains, much worse than the Premier trains on this one. And good god is it rough.
    I haven’t been on Coaster Express, in fact I’ve never ridden ANY of the RCCA woodies, but I could tell they’re rough as hell just by watching the POV’s.

    You really should ride some of the rougher 6 seat cars in the middle row. It can actually be quite fun that way. It really just removes a ton of the roughness. I learned this after riding regina at Tobu Zoo 21 times in a day and it ended up being a really fun ride where the second row was by far the best. (Since it was a walk on I still had the view as if it was front row)

    I can say that bandit won’t get an rmc coaster in the next year because it’s the most used attraction in the park. The park knows how this roller coaster is not a really good one, but they also know that this is the most popular attraction in this park. So I can understand why this is still open.

    You'd put this over Magnus Colossus for coasters you want RMC'd? Heck, I probably would've put Magnus Colossus over Gwazi or Mean Streak way back before those were RMC'd. Because that terrain usage combined with RMC has the potential to be among the best coasters out there, without RMC even needing to go above and beyond in changing the layout.

    In the Looopings Podcast the marketing director of Movie Park Germany spoke about Bandit and how it's still very popular among children. They don't complain about the ride being painfull because they're still young and can handle the rattle. And an RMC wouldn't fit that demographic. So don't expect an RMC makeover any time soon.

    Here's the thing, I get its so insanely rough but it also lacks in forces and honesty, if you think about it, would it really be better if it was glossy smooth on an already forceless ride? Roughness adds to that out of control feeling on wooden coasters and adds that intensity factor.
