I have a 2004 with 300 k miles. The engine has generic problems such as the head bolts over time pulling out of the block. Just a poor design but they have bolt kits and you have to re-tap the threads over time. If difficult working on the engine, the started for one is located under the intake manifold, you have to remove the upper intake manifold fuel rail etc etc.Buy all new gaskets etc. Not hard but time consuming. The alternator is difficult to, either you remove the radiator and fan shroud or lower the engine frame loosening bolts dropping it down 6 inches or so to get clearance. I have been trained by Cadillac along with other top rate auto schools and have been a mechanic for 37 years. Its a good engine but very difficult to do what is considered somewhat standard on other cars . It takes a while to work on these cars. The front end lower control arms go , use a quality upgrade heavy duty Moog front end. They call them problem solvers because they have the correction of the original part redesigned and upgraded to eliminate the same problem. I still have my 2004 Cadillac. Put a lot of time and money after driving it over 100,000. miles. That's when usually you will start having problems with the vehicle. Always use a quality synthetic motor oil to keep the engine lubed and cooled and always keep your cooling system at peak performance . Never drive this car if it overheats. It has a limp mode to get you 50 miles further if it overheats by shutting cylinders down , but don't do it. It gets hot pull over and get a tow. If not you will ruin the engine. Always when possible use A/c delco parts or standard, etc etc. Use rockauto.com to get reduced priced original equipment for this car. Good luck
Hope you are still in business ,because if all your cars show this well in you videos ,your doing something right in the used car business . Unlike most used car places
Sure am, 19 years and counting and it's cars like these that have been the foundation of my business. Thank you. The latest two, 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe LS with the Mark III conversion package with 45k original miles near flawless...and a 1975 Pontiac Firebird Esprit with 47k original miles.... stunning condition too...
my grandma used to have one of these I think I was in high school 9th grade I don't think it was a I think hers was a 2001 back then though or 2002 but it was just like this car but it was midnight blue with gold trimming and dark windows and that funky ass talk that's on the top whatever you call those things Carriage top very nice fucking car pimp very indeed
I have a 2001 Cadillac Deville I have a light on oil light and brake light on and I have a ABS light on traction control is on tell me the problem it might be
Don't do it like that, first put on your seat belt, and then start driving, because you shouldn't be driving and leave the wheel to do something else with your hands, it's dangerous. Repent and believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Messiah.
SteelCity1981 I would say around 120k. Those low mileage headgasket failures were often mis-diagnosed. It was usually faulty radiator caps and faulty plastic coolant recovery bottles.
SteelCity1981 Like I just said, if they're maintained properly, there's no issue. Those complaints are from people who let the car sit for extended periods of time and never changed the coolant on time. Mine is at 320,000 miles. I know a guy who is at 500,000.
A poor attempt at a joke. The coolant was the only issue, NOT the head gasket. The only reason the engine failed was because people bought the cars and poorly maintenancd them.
good what?L.O.L IAm a retired cadillac engineer 14/17 mpg /on long trips mabe 23 mpg at best there are way to get 27 out of the north star but you have to know what your doing L.O.L.

Good review, I have a 2001 Cadillac Deville…I agree with your commentary.
Brought a 2002 with a 124.000 miles replace fluids replace front coil repaired left and rear driver side windows runs great.
Sweet ride, what a great car if properly maintained. ;)
Grampa's car? More like a pimp's car...
Smooth and quiet is a pimp's car? Your loss. Your favorite car would be a tin can.

I'd put a roof and the grill on the front.

yeah I don't know about a long time head gaskets normally go out in these after 60k.

SteelCity1981 nope.. in 02 they fixed most problems and in 04 they fixed all the problems. anything with the Northstar 04 and up won't have issues.
SteelCity1981 Not true. They're excellent 500,000 mile cars. Until you stop properly maintaining them and letting them sit.
UnitedRecording bs jyst look at all the complaints of head gasket failures in these years with only 50k on them
SteelCity1981 Like I just said, if they're maintained properly, there's no issue. Those complaints are from people who let the car sit for extended periods of time and never changed the coolant on time. Mine is at 320,000 miles. I know a guy who is at 500,000.
With the north star he's lucky he got it back to the lot
