I wish there were more recent tutes for Maya / RS. It seems the best ones are at least 4 years old. All the recent ones are for C4D only. I am not happy that they bought out RS.
I am still confused about what are the different between displacement map on the redshift tab and the displacement under the common shading tab? are both displacement tab plug in same texture?
This is just a Maya thing you can use either one it's just Maya's shader group option has default slots also. For example you could use the regular Maya displacement inside the shader group displacement slot and preview your displacement in the viewport but then plug for it to work in Redshift you can use the redshift displacement into the shader group redshift displacement slot.
OOhh.. Thank you.. So it means that for preview purpose its alright to do in maya shader slot, for redshift render, its better to put in redshift slot?
All you do is in the Maya render settings tell it to render an animation in the Output tab then choose the frame range and just do a regular batch render like you would any other renderer. it will start writing out the files and AOVs. No different than any other render engine in Maya except you just have the Renderview open instead of it doing a batch behind the scenes render.
They are generated from 3d sculpting apps typically like Mudbox or Zbrush. You need to make sure you save out the map as a vector map instead of a standard displacement map.
As usual, your tutorials are thorough and clear.
One of the best tutorials I've ever watched. Thank you a lot!
Great tutorial man, just what I needed!
Thank you very much sir for such a nest, detailed, clear explanation on redshift renderer !!!!
Thanks a lot for this explanation!
blending thing is awesome.. this is gold stuff...
Awesome and detailed tutorial! Thanks a lot for sharing, can't wait for more :)
thank you its very deep info
nice and clear! Thank you!!
very informative, thank you

Really, really good tutorial.
awesome tut. learned some stuff here!
great tutorial. thank you
nice!

Thanks for the excellent tutorial! Could you do one one how to render an animation with redshift for maya?

Tkkks
How did you toggled the IPR redshift view side to side to the perspective?
oswaldo webel you can just snap it into any window like all the other panels in Maya 2017+
I wonder the exact same thing. Saul Espinosa say you can just snap it like other windows but mine won't do it. : /
how does one get a vector map from a 3d model?
They are generated from 3d sculpting apps typically like Mudbox or Zbrush. You need to make sure you save out the map as a vector map instead of a standard displacement map.
