  • Listen for yourself and see if you can hear the difference between an RCA New Old Stock tube and a Cryotone tube with direct A B sound tests through this RUclips video!
Also here is a link to our forum post about this video:
    www.decware.co...
You can download the actual DSD(DFF) recordings used to make the video. The links are provided in the forum thread. We had to reduce the two DSD files to 16bit MP4 to make the video so the DSD files are obviously way better.

I'm very happy with my Cryotone EL34's! The first thing I noticed (in the first 5 minutes of listening) are that textures are more vivid. After about 15 hours of listening the biggest improvement over my Psvane tubes (part of the upgraded package with my Willsenton R8) is a significantly darker background which translates to micro details with more character, more nuance. Subtle faint sounds that use to sit way back in the mix now have personality. One way to describe this is that small faint "pops" or "ticks" found in a lot of electronic music that used to pass without adding much to the presentation are now rendered as "wet" or "dry", they have bloom and decay that wasn't there before. This all adds up to a more immersive and involving listening experience. I can't wait for my UFO25 to arrive with the CryoTone tube compliment. At times the wait is torturous.

For me it's the RCA, smoother, musical, warmer, it sounds more realistic and natural. Cryotone has more air and is more detailed but sounds slightly harsh to my ear and slightly synthetic.

Much more present texture of the sax reed…. And a livelier rhythm section on the cryotone. Very nicely done.

Cryotone seems to have a bit more brightness and punch; however, it's not by a huge factor. Both are good. By the way, I've just replaced every tube in my phono, pre, and power amps with Cryotone tubes. Phono and pre are by Quicksilver. Power amp is Decware Mystery amp.

I think the RCA is more to my liking. Difficult to say with the youtube compressing everything etc but since they both are "suffering" the same compression it is possible to make a comparison. I do not want to say "harsh" but maybe the Cryotone are more dynamic and more detailed and therefore more "cold". I still want to get some cryotone in my collection.

Cryotone all the way! I could easily hear the improvements even thru my cellphone and a bluetooth speaker.

I agree with Music Lover. Definitely RCA and I can hear the difference through inexpensive single driver computer speakers. Confident I could pass a double blind test and I'm no golden ear.

Cryotone is the better in my opinion.

Cryotone all day and all night long.

Under ideal conditions each tube should have its bias set for lowest distortion. The bias will vary a bit even with what appears to be identical tubes.

Call me crazy but I think at this point the RCAs are more natural sounding whereas the cryotone tubes are more crisp sounding. I don’t think I’d go wrong with either.😊

cryotone is not a manufacture, so what tubes are they buying, cryotreating and reselling?

    • @decwareproducts
      @decwareproducts  2 месяца назад

It depends on the tube. Much of their stuff is JJ brand tubes that they cherry pick from large batches.

ah, @@decwareproducts, ok, so different manufactures, but sometimes jj.

RCA has far more details, naturalness and pleasantness.... cryo sounds like a zombie barfing. let this be a reminder not to listen cryogenic tubes .ever

    Cryotreatment is another rip-off.

If you're paying $20 a tube for cryo treatment then it is likely going to be ineffective because the process done right takes days and costs around 5 times that.
