Turning a Lamp from Green Wood

- Rob Johnstone saves a chunk of wood from the scrap heap and turns it into a lovely lamp. First he takes the box elder to the lathe and then adds the electronics and a lampshade from Rockler.

You should try the lathe dust collection chute that Rockler sells. It’s really good to use when sanding.

Start hole with a short bit then finish with auger bit.

2:28 is it pass mains wire through wood like that?
What kind of country are you running over there? Metal parts near mains should be earthed. If it doesn't come with your kit, you can still (eg) solder on an earth. Could save your life if those terminals loosen.
Beautiful lamp though. Is it going to crack and check as it dries?
no cracking and crazing yet. Could happen but I don't think it will
