Ernie, Your my hero. I have a piece of Australian Jarrah, approx 14". I was puzzled as to how to mount it on my lathe to make a platter. As a habit I keep the decent cut off' s from projects, but did not think this is how I should mount 'This' project to make the Platter. I love to watch and learn from your experience. 😊

Ernie, I recently started giving platters a shot. I've been scratching my head over figuring out how to remove the tenon (or mortise) without making it look like a hack job. In the four or five years since I took this hobby up I've never seen or heard of that paper joint trick and I just wanted to say, "Thank you SIR!" Will any paper work? Is that just grocery bag paper?

Good basics for a lazy susan and a spiral tool adds a nice touch to the outside rim, right on about selecting well dried wood, maintaining a sharp tool edge and use of a scraper with a radius lead edge.

Great tutorial and beautiful result! Paper... That stuff is so strong, you'd think it used to be wood! 🤔
