VR is so underrated, and people have no idea how good it is these days.
And game studios keep waving the "niche" flag when asked for better support.

Always played online racing in VR, could never go back to a screen. Gives you so much perception. Clarity wasn’t as crisp though but now with quest 3 and improvements it is phenomenal. AM2 has been a godsend for me with the new AI and being able to just race without stupid penalties when someone hits me from behind and stressing about improving my safety and irating. Haven’t played iracing for weeks now. All that is needed is a decent career mode in AM2.

I wish they would make a higher quality version of it. Worth going for another rim - its a ball ache swapping them over / redo buttons (AMS2 allows profiles for 3 rims so you just need to set it once but remember to swap the profile in game - which I then forget so buttons are messed up unless you laod the track again).

Really pleased for the increase in VR content. I've personally been racing in VR since I bought my first headset in May 2017 and I genuinely can't go back to flat screen - everything is so far away and "unreal" that I can't get used to it again. I recently moved my monitor closer to my eyes to help my interest in Rennsport, but then UEVR happened, so... AMS2 has a fantastic VR implementation, although personally, I give the VR crown to AC1 as it does mirrors better, including showing the drivers head, the car model and being full 3D (ie a different image in the mirror for each eye). I want to like AMS2, but I just can't. I can't work out why.

Another fantastic (VR) video GM, and I look forward to ANY/ALL future video's & Sims you choose to do about the Q3. One thing that did surprise me a little - and that is due to your own tendency towards feeling nausea in AMS2's game engine/default car settings - was that when I use my original RIFT, I do feel a tiny bit of nausea especially in AMS2 ONLINE. But to be fair this was on my old PC which capped the VR @ 45fps, as it simply wasn't powerful enough. And it's simply too hot at the moment in our Aussie Summer to test out the new PC @ 90fps with a hot VR headset on also. So I was curious if those new pancake lenses in the Q3 along with your fairly powerful PC, helped remove some of that nausea you naturally felt when using the monitor with AMS2. So I was simply a little surprised you didn't mention anything about that in this video?

AMS2 cam settings are still prity bad , AC with RHM and iracing work way way better. so its probably due to that in part , the hmd moves image with head so it helps undo the sudden 0 movment to movment issue ams2 has in 2D to some extent also the limits of the lock to horizon might be slighty different as well.

VR players are in a good spot right now. For multiplayer races, hotlapping, mods, drifting and cruising we have AC and LFM, and for AI races we have AMS2. As a 100% VR simmer since the DK2 I maintain that AC looks and runs better in VR after you've tweaked it, though trackside detail is very dependent on which track you're racing. Obviously AMS2 out of the box is fantastic visually.
AMS2 still makes you drive the car holding some over the top angles round corners that no amount of VR or camera and audio settings, or setup changes can fix. If they could tighten that up I would spend a lot more time (and money) on it. At least since 1.5.2 though I'm happy enough with the physics to actually enjoy driving it. If only RSS and VRC hadn't been spoiling us with the best cars in simracing over in AC land.

AMS2 indeed looks incredible, and I agree entirely that AMS2 cars aren't quite properly planted like in AC, but it's pretty easy to overlook that nowadays and just enjoy its strengths. Like I don't feel like I'm fucking up my elitest lofty lap goals in iracing by dicking around in AMS2 nowadays, the cars are real lively, and it's so great for just loading up some random car and driving some cool ecuadorian track I've never heard of.
Even though iracing assets look kinda old or something, the effect is actually the most... realistic? Like when I upgraded to quest 3, the first time I loaded up miatas on limerock park, it just hit me that it was really like I was driving a car. Like the effect was that I actually finally in that car

I recently switched from a 32" 1440p monitor to a Quest 3 have struggled to get ACC working well - it works and there's tweak guides out there that get it looking ok, but I wanted something to wow me and many people suggested AMS2 as a great single-player VR title - AND IT IS. So good. In fact it's so good that it's ruined ACC for me in VR and I don't feel like racing on a monitor anymore. Having to re-evaluate my whole approach - but with AC (also awesome in VR) on LFM I might have to get my multi-player fix there. If you're a VR player you seriously owe it to yourself to try AMS2 - there's a free demo (apparently demo is old and bad - just buy it and refund if you hate it!). I didn't find it 'easier' than ACC - in fact I'm still faster in head to head hot-lap test with same car same track in ACC - but it does drive differently. So fun thoug and too pretty. LeMans at dusk with the sun setting is spectacular.
e; example that blew my mind - the mirror are mirrors. Not just camera projections, if you move your head your view in the mirror changes like it would looking in an actual mirror. The little stuff and the big stuff are all done well.

The most clever use of this is when you have animated billboards which you can see in Mario kart 64 or even snes games or loads of Gameboy Advanced games , where the sprite always faces the cam but also it is animated so it shows a different sprite image for different angles which then makes the 2D sprite look 3d !
tony hawks pro skater on GBA is really good example of this - super clever stuff and I love the effect.

I just got a Quest 2 for free, buddy of mine had severe issues wearing it with glasses. Gave it my first go around today, omg... the immersion. Now, I had tried an old PSVR years ago and it made me sick as heck. This didnt, though I don't feel fantastic atm. Only thing I need to dial is if there is a way to clear up the graphics, things are fuzzy. Overall a good time.

AC can look really good on the quest3 but I noticed loads of frame pacing issues with my 7900xtx. The performance headroom fluctuates constantly in a pretty wide range and when it drops to an average of around 20% the downward spikes cause frame drops. AMS behaves better allthough rain can be very demanding, especially at night. But the reprojection on the Quest works pretty good and allthough not ideal it isn't nearly as jarring as it was on the Index.

fully agree, the VR experience is amazing in AMS2. Do you notice any lag with using a link cable? I understand it's still encoding and compressing video in realtime which in theory still causes some lag?

until last VR gen I could understand why ppl use 3 screens for racing, but now, with the quality of these new VR headset FOR ME there is no sense on investing in 3 monitors either for cost (not only the monitors but the stand as well) and driving quality, I can tell with exact precision the apex of a corner, the distance from a car in front of me or on the side, the actual speed of the cars and so on... the only downside is that you need "legs" to be able to play for long sessions without been in discomfort.
I keep my quest 3 (start doing it with the Pro) without the facemask and a Stream Deck just near my legs, this way I can have a quick pick and change settings on the fly like in a monitor configuration

Interesting though that it’s little old Reiza with a century’s old graphics engine combined with Meta who never pushed the Quest as a primary PCVR headset that’s made us lucky ducks end up with this great combo.

    Hi racers.
    I have a AMD 6950 and a Rift S.
On AMS2 I can keep the set up quite high but when in the traffic or in very demanding tracks such as Laguna Seca i experience some heavy blurry but it doesn't seem to be a drop of FPS as when i check the performance i see the average is between 75 ish.
I tried Super resolution on/off or Bost instead or Chill upscaling or Imput lag but it seems that no setting is better than the other.
    Any suggestions?
    Cheers guys

  • @lugs118

Its the stabilizer on OBS which removes sharp bumps and makes it a little bit calmer in general to watch , compare start of video to the end as obs crashed and it was not on the end.

I'm sorry but the last two updates broke the AI in AMS2. It's not awful of course, but it has returned to groups of cars driving round within a metre of each others bumpers (re check your footage). And they rarely attempt an overtake. It was very different and far more dynamic when they released the Hi Tech, but focusing on the endurance stuff has made it substantially worse, because, well is there any game that concentrating on GT3's can't make worse.

I keep loading up ams2 at every update. I still cannot feel the brakes, compared to RF2 or AC or RBR for eg. So whilst it looks gorgeous and runs great with my G2, it just doesn't feel quite like a car...yet. The braking offers little feedback so you know where you are, and are not. This is compared to the aforementioned, hard to describe but this is how it feels to me. The little open wheel junior however is fantastic, so i hold hope for the future.

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  5 месяцев назад

Yah there is no real ffb for brake load even RF2 lacks that , nothing compares to AC for letting you feel how much grip you have in FFB.
From playing iracing I focus more on sound and memorised brake pressure for these games , which is lame but all you can do and probably will always be the case because most simracers don't realise you can feel brakes in AC1

AC just drives more precise and the FFB describes the limit and holding cars at the limit on the edge better , AMS2 has more dynamic tires in a sense but the way you drive ams2 requires you to be less precise / less snappy as the controllable slip is wider and the cars go in and out of different amounts of slip slower than AC.
