I grew up watching this troupe so you can imagine what a thrill it was to finally meet and interview them. All humble and kind. They all hung out after the taping to eat Dawn's pie and hear Alan's stories. A rare treasure in broadcasting.
It used to be but apparently In Demand had it removed. It was from 1992 (when HS had his syndicated show) and featured Bob Denver and Dawn Wells in a sketch called Gagagin's Island.
True. I do like that Bob is just sitting there, smiling. He knew the truth. And he might have been humble enough to tell the others "Don't mention it. You deserved the credit."
@Nebraskatodd Oh well, it's still amazing to see her there at all. I'm sorry that she feels the way she does about being Ginger. It doesn't make sense that she thought she would be the star when the show is called Gilligans Island.
Tina Louise who always tried to avoid being "belittled" by TV..she thought of herself as a film/STAGE star. But ..ironically..she is best known as Ginger Grant...and..how many actors can say they are known for a charachter...regardless of if its TV or film or stage???
Russell Johnson was still looking MIGHTY FINE here. Great to see them all. All of them aging very well. Thanks for uploading this, it's fun to watch at home and to also hear the audiences' reactions. The host seems like a cool guy too.
I remember watching the teledrama about Gilligan's Isle & apparently Tina was told that the show was going to revolve around her character. She very nearly walked after the first script reading when she realised the truth. She blames this show for ruining her movie career however how successful she would have been is highly debatable. It looks like she never got over it. (at least in '88)
Around 4:50 when he is asking about how Russ and Dawn got their names on the show is in Bob's book. I took it from library once and thought it very cool and too sweet he forced the two's names on. It said in his contract his name could go anywhere so he said either Russ and Dawn get added or put me last....basically he gave them no damn choice and he didn't tell the two either. Guess Bob and Gilligan are just selfless human beings who just do stuff because they can and know its right
Natalie Schafer as Mrs. Howell was the hottest one of 'em all. Seriously, for being as old as she was (in her 60s when "Gilligan" began, and in her late 80s here) she was smokin'.
@RossShafer Wow. Lucky you. I have always loved the show.Just saw Dawn Wells at the Detroit Comic-con. She is still very beautiful for 71. They all seemed to be very pleasant. Alan Hale I hear was one of the nicest people a person could meet. Nice that he was so accepting of his role. I know that Bob,Tina and Russel all had misgivings for awhile but eventually came to embrace the show.Wonder if that additive Alan was invovled with ever came out.
@johnalang Well, considering the fact that they got Jerri Ryan to show up at a Star Trek convention last year, having Tina show up for this is not too far fetched.
It is a shame that Tina and Dawn do not have the love for each other that Bob Denver and Alan Hale had for each other and Jim Backus and Natalie Schafer had for each other .
Man, they all sound EXACTLY the same - their voices sure haven't changed. And even their looks haven't changed dramatically enough to not recognize any of them right off.
Tina Louise must have received the phone call to play Ginger after Jayne Mansfield declined to play the role, Jayne was their original choice to play "The Movie Star".
Marc Joe she was on Dallas briefly and was in the Stepford Wives. I think she’s done a few other things. She was a good actress. You can see her in early stuff and she was actually very good. Like everyone else on the show, she got typecast. It’s understandable why she resented it.
@odin66673 Hell yeah she was ! In the episode where MaryAnn thought she was Ginger and she took on her persona she was drop dead gorgeous ! Why on earth Gilligan never tried to get her behind the hut or in one of those secret caves is beyond me !
John Lang I think she didn’t hate Ginger as a character, but she hated she was lied to about the significance of her role, and that she didn’t want to be typecast as one particular character, but could have had the opportunity to play all sorts of roles. I’ve heard her talk with fondness about Ginger as a character, but not as much about the show
I'm surprised Tina Louise agreed to be part of this reunion, since she has completely disavowed her involvement with "Gilligan", in her attempts to become a "serious" actress.
Tina had done about 10 movies before GI, but she had small parts in them, but she mostly did TV. After GI, she was in "The Wrecking Crew" starring Dean Martin where she played a "cheesy dancer" spy who was killed within the first 20 minutes. She was in "How to Commit Marriage" starring Bob Hope, but she played a "not so bright" pretty girl in the movie. I agree she regretted doing GI, but she had already done lots of TV prior to GI, but it didn't ruin a career she never really thought she had.
Beautifulmusiclistnr she was in God’s Little Acre before and Dallas and the Stepford Wives after, among other things. It’s quite possible she could have achieved more if she hadn’t taken the role. Being on Broadway with Carol Burnett is pretty impressive
Everyone on the show seemed to have a good time except for Tina Louise. She apparently blamed the show for ruining her career. If it weren't for Gilligan's Island she would have just been another B movie queen. If she wants to blame anyone she should blame herself for accepting the job in the first place. It would have been nice to have had a Ginger who enjoyed the part and her costars instead fighting against them. Her bitterness will never destroy Gilligan's Island.
Isn't it funny how when Tina came out, she vaguely greeted her first 2 co-stars and from that point on, she never once made any contact with them...then when the other 2 came out, she remained seated and made no attempt to greet them...? She is VERY bitter about that time of her life. Also note, if you search for that movie she plugged...it is no where to be found, other than on the Tina Louise Wikipedia page. So sad...lol
timtaylor2001 Tina said she always respected Bob and she was hurt that he always criticized her. She may not have been easy to work with, I couldn’t say, but it was Bob who held the grudge
Na, Tina wasn't being a b**** by not standing when Dawn and the Prof. walked into the room. A gentleman always rises when a lady comes into a room. Its just protocol or common courtesy. Its one of those "Salutations of Courtesy" Like taking off your hat and such. Maybe old fashioned, but many folks still do it. Maybe etiquette has evolved to include women rising; I have no idea.....
Tina louise was always a cheesy actress. I've seen some of her other stuff and she thought she was a whole lot more than she ever was. Then she always trying to escape being Ginger. I'm amazed she actually showed up and even more amazed she was willing to do a Ginger act.
Chicken Wing so good for her that she was a good sport about doing this. Personally I think she was a fine actress. I’ve seen her in several things and thought she is quite good. I don’t know about her as a person. Maybe she is difficult. But I also know she does a lot of community work and humanitarian work, so I definitely respect her for that.
From what we see on the video here, and from reading the comments on here, sounds like behind the scenes on GI was not all that wonderful! They sure hid any problems they might have had really well when they filmed the show, though!
She Wouldnt' Listen To That Anyway. If She Really Did That Would Mean Her Self-Pity Personality Would Be Flushed FOREVER! And She Would Have To Show Character Then.
I heard no one liked Tina Louise at all. She thought the show was going to be about her and that she knew the show was cancelled before the rest of the cast without telling them. Even Maryanne didn't like her!
Mark Moore that’s not really true. Alan and Jim both got along with her. Bob and Russell were her biggest critics. Tina and Dawn got along fine until maybe ten years ago or so. I don’t know much about Tina’s relationship with Natalie, but I don’t think it was acrimonious
I should have checked my facts. Trough her Chapter 7 bankruptcy, she was able to keep her California home. Apparently she owed back taxes and had to file in order to keep her home. So, she must not be too loaded (as you stated in your comment) because why would her debts exceed her income? The bankruptcy is public record so you can verify it if you'd like. But, thanks for verifying that she may not have lost her home.
Did you notice when Dawn Wells & Russell Johnson get introduced and enter the stage that Tina Louise didn't even stand up to say hi to them. Animosity or dislike?? Also, Bob Denver shakes Johnson's hand, but doesn't even make eye contact with Dawn Wells. Could it be they don't like each other, or maybe they are covering up many secretive rendezvous' together where Gilligan finally got to bang the snat out of Mary Ann. lol
tina louise is lying through her teeth , she said many of times that gilligans island has ruined her career ,and she did not have a good time on the set , she just did her lines , then left, did not stick around with the cast
Tina got along well with Alan and Jim, and Dawn for quite a while. Bob and Russell in particular seemed to have resentment towards her. I think she was less interested in milking the show and wanted to do other things while the others accepted they were now typecast to those roles and didn’t fight it as much. Tina clearly did a great job as Ginger so even if she didn’t love the show at least she was a pro and did her job well. She seems to be trying to be kind here... it was a little awkward but we can be thankful she made an effort, and she did correctly quote one of Ginger’s lines.
Tina was in many great movies, "Death Screm" for TV, The Stepford Wives, The Wrecking Crew with Sharon Tate & Dean Martin, How to Commit Marriage with Jackie Gleason.
I always loved both as a kid mixed emotions I switched back and forth. We named our dog Ginger.
Bob Denver was responsible for getting "the professor and Mary Ann" in the theme.
Shame that they didn't mention that....
Tina Louise was the first on air mistress of JR Ewing on Dallas when she played Julie Grey
Its amazing people are still watching this! LONG LIVE GILLIGANS ISLAND!
nice
2:28 Some similarities to an old 70's John Water's film.
bob denver is in my middle school year book.Saying that he died x.x
Tina Louise who always tried to avoid being "belittled" by TV..she thought of herself as a film/STAGE star. But ..ironically..she is best known as Ginger Grant...and..how many actors can say they are known for a charachter...regardless of if its TV or film or stage???
i watched the episode ginger was talking about today lol
Russell Johnson was still looking MIGHTY FINE here. Great to see them all. All of them aging very well.
Thanks for uploading this, it's fun to watch at home and to also hear the audiences' reactions. The host seems like a cool guy too.
Yep, I agree Allison. Russell Johnson WAS still looking MIGHTY fine here!
Mr. Howell, The Skipper, and Mrs. Howell all passed in consecutive years. 89', '90, and '91 respectively. RIP to these great actors and actress.
excellent rare television moments with tina-thanks for posting
@delidude1999 , I agree Tina was known for hateing the show and not wanting anything to do with it after it was over.
Hehe Tinas movie looks like something I could shoot......AWEFULL
Tina was always ashamed of appearing in a show like 'Gilligan's Island', which is just sad. Dawn, on the other hand, was justly proud of the show.
(at least in '88)
bob denver shakes her hand as they sit down.
Tina was actually on Dallas. She played J. R.s secretary at one point.
This TV show is made way before my time but I love it nonetheless. I’d have to say Alan Hale (Skipper) and Bob Denver (Gillian) are my favorites.
That is a funny bit the host did @ 1:50
"I feel like I should call you Ginger, like Skipper and Gilligan."
Guess Bob and Gilligan are just selfless human beings who just do stuff because they can and know its right
Memories such a great show. I watch at every chance I get.
And now Gilligan is sadly gone.
Natalie Schafer as Mrs. Howell was the hottest one of 'em all. Seriously, for being as old as she was (in her 60s when "Gilligan" began, and in her late 80s here) she was smokin'.
RIP Russell Johnson

The Skipper and Gilligan..............Man I miss this show! They never should have been left on that Island the way the show ended.
I think Dawn a least waved at Tina briefly
@StanBennet She looks like she's single handedly keeping bad plastic surgeons afloat.
@johnalang Well, considering the fact that they got Jerri Ryan to show up at a Star Trek convention last year, having Tina show up for this is not too far fetched.
Tina and Eve Plumb need to start the "Embittered Former Sherwood Schwartz Hit TV Series Stars Club"
It is a shame that Tina and Dawn do not have the love for each other that Bob Denver and Alan Hale had for each other and Jim Backus and Natalie Schafer had for each other .
Did you see the mini-reunion on The Howard Stern Show?
Man, they all sound EXACTLY the same - their voices sure haven't changed. And even their looks haven't changed dramatically enough to not recognize any of them right off.
Notice nobody shook Tina's hand coming out?
sigh.... I wasnt even born during that time... bummer..
Tina Louise must have received the phone call to play Ginger after Jayne Mansfield declined to play the role, Jayne was their original choice to play "The Movie Star".
Tina hated being on that show....I give credit to the other cast members for being so gracious..they showed class...HER? Pleeease!
September 2, 2005
SHOCKED THAT GINGER ACTUALLY AGREED TO APPEAR
@mthivier I was going to agree. This is the first time I've seen her with the cast. She's so hurtful.
If you chose Mary Anne, its safe to say you were right.
Tina could do this, and none of the Movies? 😱
JONAS GRUNBY?!
'the pool' must have won the Best Pic Oscar as i have never heard of it or anything else she ever did after GI
They ACTUALLY got Tina Louise to show up?! WOW! That's very interesting...seeing she DESPISED the role of Ginger.
John Lang I think she didn’t hate Ginger as a character, but she hated she was lied to about the significance of her role, and that she didn’t want to be typecast as one particular character, but could have had the opportunity to play all sorts of roles. I’ve heard her talk with fondness about Ginger as a character, but not as much about the show
Im surprised they got Tina to do this. I bet they forked out a lot of money for her
It's really sad all the good shows were from the 1960's and the good cast members all die, like Bob Denver (gilligan) died when i was 3 years old ;(
I'm surprised Tina Louise agreed to be part of this reunion, since she has completely disavowed her involvement with "Gilligan", in her attempts to become a "serious" actress.
It makes me so sad that most of them died
Tina still looked great. But boo for hawking her rotten movie and not really getting into the reunion or greeting her cast mates warmly.
thats not Tina Louise prove at 1:15 can`t even remember the lines even though there all faulse
@odin66673 she still was then
I'm glad Tina came back for this one. She'll always be the only Ginger that matters.
It was a stupid and silly show that is/was a guilty pleasure with a lot of people around the world
she would've met them backstage i guess
Tina had done about 10 movies before GI, but she had small parts in them, but she mostly did TV. tina louise must look really old now that was 24 years ago.
If Tina could really act, she might have made an interesting Sue Ellen on Dallas
dawn wells looks alot different
RIP Russell
Everyone on the show seemed to have a good time except for Tina Louise. She apparently blamed the show for ruining her career. It seems to me that TINA LOUISE was playing "NICE" when it comes to her being cast as GINGER. She actually HATED it...
Dawn was my favorite.
Bob is so old and the rest is so oldolololololololoo
0:26 .... as seen as i saw her face i screamed
@zapkvr Dawn was just down-home. That's the kinda gal I like.
So sad...lol
go to find a death.com. look up Alan Hale, and the rest of the deceased cast is listed.
Denver passed away also, I think in 91 also, not sure.
Tina Louise looks like most of the women I see at the biker bars.
Wow!!!! Dawn Wells!!!!!
Tina & Bob never buried the hachet you noticed that she didnt even hug him just a quick hand shake.
timtaylor2001 Tina said she always respected Bob and she was hurt that he always criticized her. She may not have been easy to work with, I couldn’t say, but it was Bob who held the grudge
Na, Tina wasn't being a b**** by not standing when Dawn and the Prof. walked into the room.

@odin66673 everyone says that
why did not Tina Louise say why she would not associate herself with the TV movies and kept insisting she was Tina and not ginger ?
Damn Ginger looked good here.....
@AANNIEMANIA They died...
I just saw that daw wells had her house foreclosed. Sad.
Mmmm. Mary Anne.
From what we see on the video here, and from reading the comments on here, sounds like behind the scenes on GI was not all that wonderful! They sure hid any problems they might have had really well when they filmed the show, though!
Rusell's didn't shake Tina's hand, is clear the cast didn't get along with her, too bad.
She Wouldnt' Listen To That Anyway. If She Really Did That Would Mean Her Self-Pity Personality Would Be Flushed FOREVER! And She Would Have To Show Character Then.
@AANNIEMANIA They were old annd Jim Backus was dying of Parkinson's.
@patrick9648
Obviously she only did it so she could plug her movie.
And yes, Mary Ann was way hotter.
Louise was 54 here
@Attila709 With out Gilligan's Island, she wouldn't be remembered at all for anything. She should've embraced and and used it to build her career.
I heard no one liked Tina Louise at all. She thought the show was going to be about her and that she knew the show was cancelled before the rest of the cast without telling them. Even Maryanne didn't like her!

Dawn Wells was much more sexier than Tina
OH MARYANN!!!!

she was too stuck up
Mary Ann was my Crush. I loved her more then The Movie star chick.
No, she was MY crush!
