I actually like Nautica Blue. It was one of my first fragrances and I still wear it from time to time
I got laid off Nautica blue.....the woman says it smells nice on me.....I gotta buy more cause I'm out.

Time capsule
Bought a 200ml bottle of D & G Light Blue Eau Intense a couple years ago due to all the hype. And it does smell great! But it gives me a dull headache each and every time that I wear it, so I rarely do.
In my case, it's the JPG Le Male. When I smelled it in a department store, I loved it! Bought it home and wore it a few times, it gave me a headache EVERY TIME. At first I thought it was just unhealthy bad days, so I tried it about 10 times, headache EVERY TIME! I gave it away to a friend whose favorite fragrance is it. Other people seem to love it too. It's one of a very few fragrances that gives me a headache.
P.S. Whenever I smell it on that friend, it would make me feel nauseated.

If you really like it, have you tried spraying clothes before you wear them? I realize this is blasphemy to some people, but I've found with only one exception that I can wear fragrances that give me a headache if I spray my shirt an hour or two before I put it on.
I think I’m one of those Kalan fanboys. Most of my negative blind buys are more disappointing than disgusting. But my worst blind buy by far is Toy Boy. It smells synthetic and induces pronounced gag reflex. I get people love it, but it is definitely not for me.🤷🏻

I always thought about buying Kalan. Luckily my friend had a bottle and I got to sample it. I didn’t expect it to be bad 🤣 So I passed on buying a bottle.
Kalan is DEFINITELY one of those "love it or hate it" fragrances. I don't mind it, but my brother says it smells like burning plastic🤣.
I blind bought Nishane Hacivat and was let down, it smells like someone sprayed Aventus in a moldy basement. 😬

I love Shawn Mendez Signature… one of my all time favourite summer scents. Bought back up bottles I like it so much. Youthful gem.
I would like you to try Calvin Klein Amber Gold. It REALLY is overlooked IMO. DEFINITELY a hidden GEM!

I had a choice between Missoni Wave and Wanted Tonic. I bought Tonic. Smh. It isn't bad, it's just regular. Right after that everyone started talking about Wave. Upsetting.
Missoni wave smells amazing
Yeah Tonic Bottle just looks cool but the scent isn't anything worth getting hyped about.

I test Montale and Mancera and still regret the slop I sprayed on most of the time (the shop I frequent have samplers when I hit a certain amount and those are dime a dozen) . Those early Montales were ROUGH.

Your description of Little Italy is exactly mine for Ajmal Blu. Great fresh start but then turns to a funky, musky smell that I don't care for. Saw lots of rave reviews online about it but it isn't for me.
@Gents Scents Have you tried any of the Tumi fragrances? I have Atlas and Kinetic and I think I prefer kinetic. some people are saying it smells almost like a blend of Kalan and Dior Sauvage, but I have no frame of reference for Kalan, but I do get a bit of a sauvage feel from the drydown
Haha I laughed so hard when you commented on the headache commenters. I've said it in other videos and I'm going to do it again just because, but Light Blue Forever and K EDP give me a raging headache about the time it hits the drydown. No clue why. Grapefruit in Bleu de Chanel doesn't give me any issues.
Hi great video as always. I came across a perfume site in the U.K called perfume essence. They have some discontinued fragrances like Paco Rabanne 1 million prive and Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio essenza and a few others. Are these worth a blind buy at the prices they asking?

Love Layton from PdM, but don’t like Exclusif at all. Bought the 125ml bottle blind because I liked the original, and read in reviews it’s a “more grown up version” but it didn’t work for me… :(
Blind buys are a cost of doing business for you, Ash, but for ordinary casual collectors, I've figured out after a few years that it's almost always a mistake. Except in cases where just I can't get a sample for less than a big portion of the cost of a bottle, I never blind-buy now. I have too many bottles of things I can't abide, and at least in my state, you can't even donate an unsealed bottle of cologne.
I have had a few regrets in the past but for some reason, recently i have been coming around to appreciating and enjoying them. For various reasons.
Epic man Amouage bought it due to the bottle. Most beautiful bottle ive ever seen. Nothing epic about it though, it smelled merely of scented water and cumin to my nose. I let it sit for a couple months, abd it was still the same. Almost a year later, the fragrance opened up it seemed and it is richer and has a balmy note i havent noticed before. It is a respectable fragrance now but still not one of my favorites but not a regret anymore.
Weirdly the way he described Little Italy is EXACTLY what happens when I use D&G Light Blue Intense. I've bought 2 bottles because i thought I must have bought a faulty batch but no it just turns into this funky orange scent after 10 minutes
I’m kinda surprised to hear Ash doesn’t like Fan Your Flames but also not surprised. Yes, the quality is definitely there and at first I was very impressed with it but after more wears and as I became more accustomed to the notes I realized I didn’t like it either. Mainly because of the toasted coconut and cedar combo. Very natural smelling but almost too toasted, there were a few times I wore it and it smelled more charred than toasted which was not a pleasant smell. Unfortunate.
Kalan on the other hand I rather enjoy and it’s right up there with some of my most complimented fragrances, surprisingly. However, it’s very strong and bold, not one I reach for very often so getting through a 120mL bottle will be next to impossible for me. Autumn is the best time to wear it IMO so maybe I’ll put a dent in it this year!
What do you think about the Louis Vuitton colognes? Maybe you should do a review on them.
Didn't grab my pitchfork, but I LOVE PDM Kalan! Just wore it to a BBQ for a 4th of July gathering. MB Ultra Blue was super disappointed because of the performance. Samesies, paid retail when it first dropped so very let down. I actually do like the smell but it's a half hour scent for me.
Versace The Dreamer. Fortunately it wasn't that expensive but it didn't stop me from hating it.
Make a top 10 coffee note scents or any top 10 based on a specific note, please.
I've had both Mukhallat and Fan Your Flames on my radar for awhile now and this is so disappointing. I'll probably still grab the Nishane but probably not the Montale considering that my last Montale blind buy wasn't the best experience either.
Finally someone else who feels the same about Nautica blue….I actually gave my bottle away, it gave me a headache every time I smelled it
I love little Italy. It doesn't do that on my skin and I found that used with New Harlem it brings a freshness to the sweetness of new harlem. Got a lot of compliments when I mixed the 2 . But everyone is different.
Jazz Club was a huge regret, mainly because of its projection and performance on me.
How dare you say that about Kalan, it’s exquisite!
I bought a bottle of Grey Flannel, a fragrance from my teens, one that brought back some memories. It was so inexpensive. How bad do you think it is? I like it, but it is weak, does not seem to last. Lagerfeld was another fragrance I bought in my teens when I was poor, and I am thinking of picking up a bottle of it also, as it too is inexpensive now.
Pdm kalan is 🔥👌🏼 imo i just bought a decant, it dosent smell bad at all.
My buyers remorse is currently is TDH eau givree. I've never seen so many reviewers rave about a fragrance that has the dry down of burnt plastic.
Hermes is going down hill with their frags
H24 was also a huge let down especially after all the noise abt it...
Loewe 7 Plata works super well for me. Each skin reacts differently.
I love Nishane's Fan Your Flames, if you're trying to get rid of it, holla at ya boy!!!! 🤣
I didn't think I'd want something here, but a Hardwell fragrance would be cool for a conversation piece kinda thing as an EDM fan. Miss big room music. Havent seen it at a festival in years.
Nautica Voyage is outstanding, but Nautica Blue smells like a chemical spill. I feel so bad for anyone who gets tricked into buying Nautica Blue.
You know I think Nautica Blue smells better as a body spray than as a cologne bottle…might want to give it a second chance as a spray. Trust me
I think Nautica voyage is overrated. Smells so cheap.. Got the same comment from my gf when I tried it on.

I never got into the hype with Fan Your Flames or Kalan either. Both are decent fragrances but neither really wowed me on paper or on skin. Came across FYF at a time when a few different Nishanes were being hyped and I liked ANI way better.
I still love the classic Nautica. Had it back in the day and bought another bottle last year and the performance is weaker than I remember it being (reformulation?) but I still enjoy it.

Your dollar store sells fragrance? I recall my dollar store selling trial size and travel sizes of lesser known fragrance. The only brand I knew of was Real Tree which had a great opening but performance was minimal.

From Alexandre J. maybe try Majestic Vetiver. I also impulse bought Majestic Vanilla. I think it's Majestic Oud which has a weird olive note though.
Among the Collector set the only one that horribly failed me was Argentic. I have no plans tolerating that massive nail polish open for nearly 3 hours.
I actually like Wanted Tonic. It's just an ordinary scent, but it's great for working out, lounging after a shower or quick errands. It's not going to offend anyone.

my blind buy that I regret a bit is 200ml of Davidoff CW, its the third full size bottle fragrance I bought, I just dont like how it smells like a detergent, especially after I smell Nautica Voyage. I got it for cheap enough that it didnt hurt that much but from then on, I never blind buy again
I HATED the way D&G Intenso smells. Reminds me of an old lady. Saw Ash giving it compliments. Luckily I didn't buy an actual bottle of it, it was one of those 5 ml mini bottles that look like the actual one, just for the novelty.

@@mardoggyo6712 I want to find every mini bottle that I can get lol, and have a mini collection along with my big ones. So far I've got Light Blue, Intenso, Montblanc Explorer, Legend, Versace Pour Homme and Eros Flame. Cant really find mini bottles for Dior, YSL, and most other houses

Intenso is trash...terrible.
I smelled Intenso at Macy's one time and it was just awful. That hay note is heinous!
The closest thing to regretting a purchase was for Maison Margiela Jazz Club. Based off the reviews I was expecting something sweeter. I still wear it from time to time and later it with By the Fire Place
That's wild to me; Jazz Club is definitely in my top ten in a collection of several hundred at this point.

I'm new to the fragrance world but my first blind regret was Versace The Dreamer. I was so sure I would like it but when I tested it it just smelled like cold flowery cigarette ashes. Like walking into an old motel that used to allow smoking and had some kinda floral cleaning chemical sprayed inside. I don't think it's awful but it just smells so weird for me and definitely not my style.
Ive found that if you wear frags like that more often, they grow on you. Has hapened to me with several. Putting them on before bed helps

I agree on the Prada Eau Sport. I actually got that one by accident, not realizing there is a Sport (the one I wanted) and an Eau Sport which is different. It's a kind of a clean laundry scent but mine was so watered down, it was an instant skin sent and undetectable. I even wore it outdoors in the 85 degree heat and got about zero performance out of it. So in the trash it went.
Ok I was about to say I love Prada Sport how did that make the list. Didn’t know there was a Eau Sport. But I feel better now
My worst blind buy has to be A-Men Kryptomint. Reviewers were clamoring how much it smelt similar to a York peppermint patty, sounded interesting. My first initial reaction upon spraying was a huge disappointment, smelling like synthetic mint flavored toothpaste 👎🏽. I gave my bottle away, found out a while later it was discontinued fetching high prices! 😵💫

Orange is my favorite color also.
Most of my blind buys weren't horrible but they were similar to other fragrances that are better, so they don't get worn much. My worst blind buys that are downright bad are Vince Camuto Man and Abercrombie & Fitch First Instinct Blue.
I feel this so much. I'm glad other ppl have been there. It almost made me quit last year. But I just got the last two 100ml TFMDAs not on eBay, in the US and neroli sauvage too so I guess I'm back. Lol. Most of my fails are clones.
ARMAF Club De Nuit Intense Eau De Parfume = Big Fail for me.

Montale Mukhallat: One of the most longlasting, projecting and.....compliment-getting (!!!) parfums of my whole collection ( of >300 designer and niche). Only, you must not immagine a fruit or so when smelling it, just let the fragrance come to you (and to the ones around you 😉 ). Btw, I bought mine in a parfum-shop...
Oh I think the fragrance came to him. The problem was it just wouldn't go home ….

I made a huge mistake when I bought By The Fire Place. I really thought I was gonna like it based on how people were describing it. The problem was that when it came, I hated it. The part that ruined it was the overwhelming smoke smell that it has.

My worst blind buy was Hawas. I know a lot of people like it but it just didn't do it for me. Way too musky which doesn't combine well with the sweetness on me. Had to return it.

About a week ago I tested Little Italy on my skin and it smelled like someone threw up rotten oranges. Bond No. 9 has some really beautiful bottles but every one I've sampled so far smelled awful except one. Most of them had a synthetic, plastic type of smell. It's like they try to be avant-garde but fail miserably. I now understand why some in the fragrance community don't like that house.
actually luna rossa eu sports isn't bad for a gym scent, it's probably the best on the list here (i haven't tried PDM Kalan though)... you should do a list of the "best gym scents" haha..... nautica BLue is decent for the spring as far as an out of the shower scent goes but i can understand the opinion too (it is like $15 however soo)
It smells pretty much like Luna Rosa black to my nose- basically just lavender and vanilla with a bit of amber.

Mancera black gold...when I saw the violet leaf note I expected something clean like Fahrenheit it ended up being cinnamon bubble gum smell ...couldn't stand it at all

My unmitigated failure was Karl Lagerfeld "Bois d'ambre". Well, at least bottle looks cool.

A let down for me were:
- Aventus (I just don't understand the hype)
- Percival (just does not perform)
- Elysium (wasn't as WOW as people say)
- Dior Homme Sport (Dissapeared in 30 mins)
Had the same qualm with Percival. Try Tiziana Terenzi Foconero; more effervescent and lemony while running laps around Percival in terms of performance

I agree about the last 3, but i disagree about Aventus.. give it another try, but if u buy it get it from the official store..

For me the only one i remember in recent history of blind buying is Sacred Wood by Kilian, i cant stand when i dont smell a fragrance but everyone else can so that was a failure for me
Killian killed my hopes of buying stuff from it except for Dark Lord which I gifted to an outgoing coworker who absolutely loved it. Dark Lord had a horrible mid to me.
Pino Silvestre was a blind buy disaster for me. Luckly it was just 15 bucks.
After falling in love with Dior Homme Intense i bought Dior Homme Parfum. I hate it. At least its not expensive in my Germany

Kalan to me smells like concrete mix. Like those bags you can buy of it from the home improvement store. Once I made that connection, it was ruined for me
Explorer blue is too peppery on skin not much people like that neither do I, it annoyed me when I sprayed a tester on my skin and it instantly smelled very peppery which bothered my nose

Hands down the worst thing I have ever sprayed on myself. I regretted doing it after the very first spray. I had ordered a split and was so excited for it to arrive, while I was waiting for it to arrive I went back to the website and ordered the last split that was available, thinking I was so smart. When the first package arrived with the first split, I opened it like an animal, I immediately put a spray on my wrist and, instantly regretted doing so. It oversprayed onto my coat. I ended up having to take my coat to the cleaners. When the second split arrived, I tossed it in the corner. It is still sitting there unopened, and will remain unopened, until the day I die.
I wanted to love this so much, but for me, Burning Barbershop from D. S. & Durga was my biggest blind-buy disappointment. I love Bowmakers and Mississippi Medicine, but Burning Barbershop didn't do it for me. I love the idea behind this fragrance, and every once in a while I'll try it out again to see if my nose/opinion changes, but it never does lol.
I love Burning Barbershop, I'm 57 so it may be an age thing. Apologies if your of similar maturity. I'm a big fan of D.S. and Durga, their range is really interesting and unique.
