This video did 2 things: make a lot of people start playing and make a lot of people quit playing.
Hahahahaa
No. The quitters quit because it was never an art form for them, just an egotistical race of some sort. An artist plays because that's what they love to do. An egotist plays because they don't know what art is.
@@aylbdrmadison1051 my thoughts exactly
Well I like to see those young white Boyz play guitars rather than play with rifle's and guns for the wrong self destructive reasons..
Nah I would say that's Nick Johnston's "live at Dunlop"
I've known about Gales for awhile, but damn, why isn't Cody Wright more well-known? That's the best pick-bassist I've seen in minute....
Skankhunt42 cant agree more
Word. Hes also super chill and doesnt mind answering questions. Guess what..bass isnt his main instrument hes a guitar player 1st..wtf!
Because the collective IQ of the general public has dropped 50 points.
@@elrondo7953 Actually the general public is significantly more educated than 50 years ago. That doesn't mean they're musically literate though...
mostly due to the hat he wears 24/7
Cody Wright is a badass on that bass, him and Eric make a great team.
Cody and Eric play SOOOO well together!!
Cody needed a little more volume he is amazing
@@maxpuppy96 And a little less stupid hat.
@@VenomKenLet man's cook. Lol. He's wearing the chef's hat. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Even after years every once in a while you come across something that makes your jaw drop. Being able to play like that and keep a groove the entire time without a drummer is incredibly difficult.
Truth
Coming back to revisit this for about the 100th time over the past 2 years. Every now and again I just want to hear Eric go full beans, and always end up back here. Unreal raw talent and conviction
This is why you practice with a metronome, there timing is perfect!
It’s all because of the guy clapping!
@@ben-si3dk the guy clapping is actually their drummer lol
Eric Przybyl if you watch you can see someone asking him to stop, then he’s standing there all mad and doesn’t even clap at the end when they are done playing!
Yeah, but the hipster in the suit can't seem to find the beat.....
This is why I practice with my guitar upside down
Eric- Mom, can I go out and play? Mom- Not till you practice your scales.
Best music I've heard in 2022...Cody Wright OMG!
Excellent !!!! Eric Gales is the best electric guitarist I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen a lot of them, seen Eric live 5 times. He should get the invite to play Royal Albert Hall.
I've watched this about 5x's now and it's interesting and telling to note that Gales is actually inventing new shit on the spot and at times paints himself into deviously intricate rhythmic circles from which he doesn't always quite extract himself. I think this is evidence of a higher form of artistry: this willingness to take chances and thus push your playing ability though to a new level. Dig this deceptively simple timing trap that trips him up for a second (I'll start it a little ways beforehand to show how it develops): 5:41
Yea, I was loving that about his playing too. Great assessment.
Most people dont know this but, jazz is seriously the next step to take if you want to be an incredible session player. Seriously I took two years of a jazz improv class, and I was never the same musician
@@TheKiddingStar Soooooo, true. I was listening to an interview with a World renowned composer he was learning Jazz, the person doing the interview asked "how long will it take you to master Jazz , the composer answered ' A life time.
Jazz is not scientific its spiritual....
Funny you mention that because I've noticed a few jazz musician friends of mine come from scientific backgrounds, and they play like it too. XD
Great post, I've been thinking the same thing. He's on a higher level of expression like Clapton talked of SRV. Speaking of, and it may be controversial to say this, but after listening to Gales I find SRV not as exciting.
My only nitpick, and it is just a nitpick. Is knowing when to not play. Like at 4:54 it would've been nice to hear the bassist finish that ONE lick he pulls without Eric talking over him. Nothing unusual, just typical lead guitarist stuff of overplaying sometimes.
Could watch once daily forever.
Oxxnalf I watch at least a few times a month
Such an amazing player. Love watching his lessons upside down on my screen.
How many times have I watched this? And simply amazed every time!
Look out here comes Eric. He engages his guitar, his strings, his fellow band member (s), his audience. Everything. He just seems to be one nice guy. One cool cat that can energize a guitar. Yet he strings his guitar reverse from most other guitarists. Say what? I love this guy!
OK, Cody is one ‘bad ass’ bass player. Wow. Ha, if you remove the ‘ad’ from ‘bad ass’ and connect the remaining parts together you get ‘bass’.
I can't get this out of my head ...
Astonishing!
Just discovered Cody...Led me to Eric. Right good to watch their musical connection. Super Heros~~~
Certain sections of this song reminded me of Cream - Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton just going at it.
rodentcafeteria I agree man. They are phenomenal, both on fire here.
Except with a guitarist who can play the guitar
Troye Harris So you are saying Eric Clapton can’t play guitar? 🧐
@@beelzeboob6784 Yeah he sucked ass man. He was really mediocre compared to so many guitarists out there dude.
the timekeeping and flashy moments are all sick, but it’s the DYNAMICS and overall articulation that makes this performance what it is to me. they blend between loud and quiet so perfectly and at all the right moments, really masterful shit
This is worth a million likes! Awesome collaboration. Great artistry, chemistry and groove.
Magical!!! Cody Thanks for being among us on this planet
A pick has never seemed cooler on bass
Totally. Now I feel like I've been missing out on pick playing.
Bobby Vega is another name worth checking out
I mean there was Chris Squire though.
Cody Wright shreds.
he didn't sound so limited by the pick ahahah
YESSSSS the power of a plectrum!!! thanx Cody Wright
Oh My God, Cody Wright is a monster on the bass.
Outstanding duo! Eric Gales is so deserving of getting so much recognition for his superb talents!
That's Chemistry for ya
these guys are glued...
That's why I first wanted to be a musician when I was a kid: chemistry.
5:56: what Zappa called a "strong wrong" - if you may a "mistake" during an improv, build on it, it might actually work.
"No bad notes, just bad resolutions." -- One of the first lessons i was given as a young guitarist.
He worked his way out of that like an absolute boss as well! Took it diminished for a second like fuck it ,yeah we're going there 😂
good catch ya bastard :)
@@moseisleyblues8492Hahahahahaaa
If you make a mistake: just do it again. Then it's no longer a mistake.
Seriously though, even if you do land on a bad note, you are never more than one fret from a good note. That means the *bad* note can quickly become an interesting passing tone.
O melhor baixista que já tocou com Eric gales
god DAMN, the tone those two create together is absolutely fantastic.
Man oh man even the mistakes if there were any sounded good
That was mighty awesome!!!!
Can't get better than that !!! Gawd dang !
That was f****** amazing.. Excellent..🎸🙌🙏✊🗿
Does anybody get how at this time this performance has 118 thumbs down? What video were they watching? This is two masters doing what they do in my humble opinion 🤘
Well I thought I knew what string jumping was, how wrong could I be? Cody Wright's right hand is mind blowing. Two magnificent artists.
This maybe the Best Eric video I’ve seen. My goodness is this dude the truth!!!!
The music's jaw-dropping and beautiful... but wait, there's more - these two are an absolute hoot to watch! So joyful and loose yet locked in solid to what each other is doing. Look at their faces - this is no glam-rock posing - these are two absolute musical monsters plying their craft and having a great time in the bargain!
eric gales got it bad hes a cold piece every video he comes from so many angles and sings beautifully im now a huge fan
Never seen Eric play in a drop tuning. But now that I have, I think he should do it more often because this sounds amazing, especially with that fuzz!
I have watched this 4 times and love it! love the way Eric and Cody play and it grooves!
I came here to get a closer listen to bassist Cody Wright, as I'm already well-versed in how badazz Eric Gales is on guitar. But the repeated power chord ending they're playing starting at around 4:37 GAVE ME NEW LIFE!!! I was feeling all of that. #respect
Ive been chattin with CW and the dude is super cool and doesnt mind answering a battery of questions. Hes living the dream..inspirational. -riff nifty
I keep coming back to this one because it's just so damn good. The groove these guys set up is ridiculous.
Two of the best in the business.
These two were meant for each other - flat out amazing!
This is soooooo very cool on so many levels. Two masters of their instruments just casually playing the crap out this song.....I absolutely love seeing masters of their craft just sit down and get at it and take no prisoners. Well, these two guys just showed me how that's done......and...thank you Mr. Eric Gales and Mr. Cody Wright for your lesson. That's the way you do it, y'all can both drop the Mic now.
That tone is so gritty and mean.. fucking phenomenal. Seriously one of the most beautiful tones I've ever heard someone develop.
Agree.
Thats really enormous. One very very nice gig.
Just saw Eric Gales live in Greensboro last night. He's on tour and KILLING IT STILL. And his show is so much more than music. It's a message.
Beautiful work and killer tone boys.
I've Been playing Blues on electric guitar for about 9 months. Started out for 6 months before hand playing acoustic and still don't know how to read music, only play by ear. (Only 15 months playing) It's people like gales,Bonamasa, Marcus King,Gary Clark jr that keep me playing. Let me tell ya, you don't need to be able to read music, play with your heart and soul and use it as therapy. Never care what someone else thinks and most of all have fun and enjoy it. You'll find out over time skills and little secret artifacts on playing. I record myself playing Everytime so I can figure out what I can and need to change to be better. I'm to a point where I want to start semi-performing (busking, parks, jam nights) but I have a nervous factor keeping me back. I figure out it will come in time and keep practicing.
Great Jam, Thank You for sharing.
The ending chord at 10:34 mark - BEAUTIFUL!!!! These two play very well 2gether!!!!
This deserves a million views
I first heard Eric Gayles Tro back in the early 90s and he definitely is a guitarist extraordinaire but who is this guy Cody Wright? WOW!!!. I'd love to see Cody, and Stanley Clark perform together. Jimmie Jackson Sr.
Just amazing... this vidéos from dunlop are excellent !
Gitarisnya sangat handal,,, memainkan dengan perasaan tanpa melihat... Gila nih❤❤
Oh I love this video!!!!!!!!
That upside-down playing is crazyyyyy!
Glorious
Groove and tone are all that's necessary proven right here.
Everyone knows that Eric can burn the paint off any guitar. But Damn! Cody is smokin that base guitar. Some of the best picking I've seen in a long time.
What a duo, just awesome Eric Gales I see on Anderton Music in the UK great vid
Eric's tone and timing are just to die for! The way he pushes the beat on those fast ascending licks is just great - like Eric Johnson on steroids!
Funny you say that. He’s actually good friends with Eric Johnson. :)
such a brilliant performance! god damn I love these guys
Damn, Cody's insane!!!!
What a great video after the disaster of 2021. This makes my heart feel good. REAL musicians vs autotune jokers.
Looks like I’m back here watching this again.
They have great chemistry.
there is no words to describe how BADASS!!!!THIS IS
Eric Gales looks better than he has in years... All the love and recognition from fans seems to be sinking in :)
If this aint jammin and i dont know what is. God bless their talents that brings everyone together!
eric you dont need me to talk 4 you your playing says it all (WOW)
Blown away amazed!
Looks super fun. Great job by both
That Zon bass sounds wonderful!
Ben Millar it's mainly Cody Wright playing it what makes the awesome sound👍
Ben Millar yeah. The player is better than the bass
does it though?! Why don't I like it? It feels to me like every note is at the peak of a compressor that has it's threshold set too low?!
That is a heavenly instrument
Man, those guys can rock! Love it.
What song is this and what album can I buy it on?
At 4:01 he does a nice lick, so nice in fact, it took it! Thank you, Mr Gales.
The other day, I went to my favorite local guitar shop. During the drive over there, I was listening to Eric; not to mention that ive been immersed in stuff for about 5 yrs now.
I took it upon myself to get a better handle of his playing, so i pulled a left-handed tele off the store's wall and started playing it upside down.
*BTW, its clean sound, especially being plugged into hotrod delux, w the drive half way sounded crisp and bright, yet w some dirtiness in the mids.
Anyway! In short: I HIGHLY RECOMMEND EVERYONE try doing this! It steered me away from being patternish in my leads. Plus, the new licks i came across were easily translatable to my standard, right-handed, orthadox style. It takes a while to get usex to, but give it a shot, because all in all its a game changer. And no, it is much different than tinkering about w various tunings.
#foreverchanged
Magnificent gentlemen
Two amazing musicians that were born to play together! Hope they get together again in the future. They push each other to new levels!
They are in the same band. 😂
2 of the best bass and guitar players in the world
SIMPLY AMAZING!
It's that infectious energy at work again, nice guys
Cody's like, "Cannot... no, *MUST* not remove hat under any circumstances!"
man, these boys are freakin' good!
I love the moment you see Cody win Eric over… just thank you for uploading 😂
that's badass right there....guitar upsight down and he keeps his thumb over the top.........how cool is that
Hot fucking damn my dudes! What an amazing jam!!
JUST TOTAL AWESOMENESS!!
Man. This could carry a soul through a mountain.
That’s what I’m talking about!!! Pure 🔥 Eric, Cody and your nasty drummer pls come East!!!🤘🏽✊🏽✌🏽
Am I the only one to notice Eric is playing a standard right handed guitar. (bass strings on bottom). Props.
That's pretty common for most left hand players. I know about 5 and don't know any that have little strings on the bottom.
@@johnnyholiday9456 well i think this will shock you but....ERIC GALES. Is right handed....he wrotes woth the right hand, eats roght handed..kicks right leg...but he plays left handed
No. He's been around and playing like that since the 90's.
@@Jeff4014 Yeah, just like Jimi Hendrix. He was (mostly) right handed, but played left handed on right handed guitars.
Eivind Westin jimmy played a right handed guitar but stung it left handed - High E at the bottom. Not too many guitar players take a right handed guitar and flip it, strings and all. Albert King did
Guitar Lead Guitar Bass Tampa Drum bagaikan lagu dan irama Tampa rentak.. Tak mampu untuk penonton menari berjoget riang 😊
What pure joy to hear this!
They have practiced this so well, its just so tight!
Musica y mas música con estos grandes.
Loved every minute of it, killer sound......

Lollar blackface pickups
Hard to keep Eric in a chair, wow great music, Cody is out there, will go FAR!
I'M BIG FAN OF ERIC BUT DAMN THAT BASS PLAYER IS ON THE SAME LEVEL BOTH OF THEM TOGETHER AND GET READY TO GET YOUR MIND BLOWN FANTASTIC JUST FREAKING AMAZING ALL THE LUCKY PEOPLE THERE TO GET TO WATCH THIS LIVE WISH I COULD'VE SAID I WAS THERE. LOL
Cody can make that bass wreck out , damn well done guys
why is eric gale not the cover more guitar magazines?
1022rebelreddog because hes above that
they have him in the top 5 worldwide and he should be
he is a RAWK GOAWD!
GOOD QUESTION.......
The black thing, that's why!.
