How the hell did I just watch a 40 minute video of a guy picking up hammers saying "I got this here" and am somehow entertained...? Is there something wrong with me..?
Congrats on 700k subscribers, sir. You and Dave are a constant stream of inspiration. Keep up the great makes!

Love your tool collection Jimmy, the hammer that you called a roofing axe @ 4:29 is in reality a wall-board hammer for hanging drywall. It has a small notch to pull nails, a slightly rounded face for driving the cupped drywall nails, and of course an axe head to make rough cuts in the soft gypsum board.

Don't sweat the small stuff my friend, at my age (65) I attribute it to CRS (Can't Remember Shit), but it beats the alternative which is SFB (Shit For Brains) which I know you don't suffer from, but there is a lot of that going around these days. Peace Out..........

I'm glad to see you don't have any of those crappy orange dead blow hammers. I always hate it when I ask a new guy at work to get his dead blow and he pulls out one of those. My personal favorite is a Lixie dead blow. I was hoping you would have one. I actually bought 2 of the same one. I'm sure you of all people can understand why you would need more than one of the same tool from time to time. I'm a toolmaker and use them for working on molds and dies. Great video. Congratulations on your success.

I've used my brass harbor freight hammer so much since I bought it about two years ago the ends are almost as wide now as the middle, it's mushroomed out and shortened quite a bit. I use it especially when working on my car, really great to smash suspension parts with it because you don't have to worry about deforming the bolts or nuts you might be hitting. Well... as long as they're hardened steel that is. Cheese grade steel and aluminum though and all bets are off lol.

@ 10:48, that tiny brass headed hammer is a jeweler's hammer. They're used especially when sizing rings. But they serve other purposes as well. FYI, I did gold and silver jewelry repairs/sizing for 4-5 years and that's the hammer all the jewelers have.

Finally someone with more hammers than me! I enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing. The Quickwerks hammer in your NYC shop was originally to be used in combination with another larger hammer to start driving holes in hot metal, also the hammer upstate that you said may have been used for railroad work with the very long hammer was for the same purpose, the extra long handle was to prevent your assistant from getting burned or hurt if the swing went wrong. I believe there was another upstate that your dad got you is for the same purpose. How about a video on restoring an Estwing with loose leather? Just an idea, I'm sure there are millions of them not being used because of that reason.

The hammers with the small heads that have a tapered heel that goes straight back to a strait edge...kinda like a tack hammer without the magnet.
Thats a sheet metal or fabricating hammer. The HVAC guys and gals use them to manipulate duct work and panels back before things could be bought pre made.

hi Jimmy, the claw hammer with the wooden handle you have at your workshop in new york, the one you like the shape of that came from a garage sale. that tapered head instead of the more bull nosed sort of shape commonly used by estwing is an English pattern hammer. all British made hammers where the same as that for many years.
also well done, keep them coming, and keep us updated on the new workshop. Thanks for the knowledge! Sam.

I'm disappointed not one hammer was found on the streets of NYC!
I dig all of the Estwing hammers. They are made in here in Rockford, IL!

Thank you for the tour of your collection. Great timing too because I just watched your "Hammer Rack" video a few days ago.

Jimmy thanks for all your videos you keep putting up on RUclips for our enjoyment and learning for free. Also I can't believe you can remember the majority of where/when you got each of your millions of hammers, that's friggen amazing recall dude.

The small cross peens I know as a TInners hammer, were for tinsmith work. The Quickwerk "hammer" is a handled hot punch for smithing. The one after the geologists is a Cobblers hammer as well, and the Hammer before the slag hammer is very similar to a raising hammer, I've seen them sold as a seaming hammer for copper roofing work. The one after the Stanley tack hammer in the tool drawers appears to be something very similar to a Jeweler's riveting hammer, and the one on the skewer after it is like a goldsmith's hammer.
Really nice "little" collection. Im certainly jealous of some of those
