Jimmy, your greatest legacy will not be the things that you have made, but the lives that you have affected. Your kindness, generosity, and willingness to share are infectious. They not only help the Maker community, but help all of us to continue paying it forward. I'm proud of you my friend. 🙏

Jimmy is the reason I bought a bandsaw - in my family, that was a weird a dumb thing to buy, but then I made them a hollowed out book - like Jimmy did - and they got it!
And 9 years later - Jimmy is the reason I had the confidence to remodel my kitchen and the reason people call me if they need something fixed

Great video. I met Jimmy years ago at Rochester (NY) Maker Faire.
2016 I think it was. I admired his work on RUclips immediately but once I got to meet the man behind the video, I not only admired him, but I grew to respect him. His demeanor with people made me see I was doing it wrong. You have to be open to people and willing to give of yourself. That's probably the most important thing Jimmy ever taught me. I can learn to make stuff from anyone, but Jimmy taught me how to be a better person.

I started watching Mr Diresta while he was working in New York's basement shop.
His talent with building things and different approach made his shows very inspiring, my wood working skills was almost zero, but could handle metal works because of being a body-tech for many years.
Now the wood-working skills has improved a lot because of Mr Diresta, nice guy, perfect video making with less talk & showing how he cut, assemble and final result, perfect in my book for learning and start doing your own project.
Would love hanging out in his shop one week, check out all old machines and stuff.
    Cheers from Texas !

I often drive past where the factory used to be. It's a huge construction site at the moment, there's going to be apartment buildings. So cool to know that the machines manufactured there are still around and even made it all the way across the pond :)

Great profile. There are a number of what you and I probably would call genius creators, such as Allen Millyard and Jimmy Diresta. For me, they don’t need endorsements; their work obviously speaks for itself and is beyond what mere mortals, such as I myself, would dare to dream up, much less carry out in practice. I think the less said the better. You either get it or you don’t.

I absolutely fucking love Jimmy Diresta! He is the epitome of a master craftsman. And by craftsman I mean somebody that can literally dive balls deep into any project using any material (woodworking, metal working, leather craft, blacksmithing, etc) and do it at such a high level. That’s his secret to his inspiration, he’s like my dad and can create so many unique out-side-of-the-box Diy solutions all the while being such a cool and relatable dude. Plus he loves cats, and I’ve been a fan for 10-12 years ever since he was in his New York basement shop with his kitty kitty photo bombing every video! I love them too, cats and their relationship with their captor says a lot about people. Love you buddy and keep on just being you. Jimmy’s the reason I’ve branched out beyond just the woodworking and now have a welder, multiple forge and foundry’s, leather working and electrical making spaces… lol my wife hates me being a tool whore but I model my layout exactly like he does and try to have the capability and specific tool for any possible need. It’s a lifestyle man, and he just gets it. Nothing but peace, love, and prosperity man🤙🏼

I’m from Alabama but I built cable from Ithaca down to Whitney Point in central NY and the people in NY state are so pleasant and community driven. There was this little bar called the Red Dragon I would frequent in Cortland. This one bartender introduced me to her husband one night and he invited me to his daughter’s wedding reception thaw same night. Southern hospitality is a myth, upstate New York has the nicest people I’ve ever met.
