@ELML11 It's an old dance costume. You can get them online tho, however we did add a little hoop to make it stiff. Hopefully a tutorial on how to make a floppy tutu stiff will be up in a couple months!
Omg I know you probably aren't going en pointe for real, but for the sake of dancers everywhere please tie (and tuck) your ribbons correctly.

Hey there! We used glue gun to glue the feathers and the rhinestones! We just used the tacky spray at the end to sprinkle glitter on them (not required though).
I'm so excited to be the black swan this Halloween because around 14 random people have told me I look like Natalie Portman, and I'm a ballet dancer too. I'm going to go full out, makeup, red eye contacts, pointe shoes. im so excited thank you for this video once again!
idk if y'all know but there is loop trick to make a simple tutu with no sewing. cut stips of tulle into 3" X 20" and fold that in half around the wire loop or elastic band. then lay the tulle behind the wire loop. but make sure the fold in the tulle is about 1" above and then pull the opened end of the tulle through the looped end so that the tulle is making a knot around the wire, and just repeat. BTW I love your videos!

Ladies, I can't thank you enough for these videos. I decided to be Black Swan this year the moment I saw a black swan costume at a party last year. I love that movie, and thought to myself "Why didn't I think of that?!" So I decided that day that would be my costume this year. I am nearly finished! Today I attached wire to my tutu since it was indeed suffering from Floppy Tutu Syndrome. Anyway, I wouldn't have done this without your easy to follow instructions and guidance Thanks so much!

@freeravenm You can find one at a dance supply store, most Halloween costume shops, or Malabar's if you're in the Toronto area :)
I'm guessing that the pointe shoes were ties that way as decoration. She didn't go up on her toes. Loved the tutorial! Might start working on this years costume now!
@ambiL11169 Hey! There are actually quite a few corset videos on youtube (which involve lots of sewing), and the tutus are really easy to find online or at costume stores. But since most tutus are not stiff we are going to upload a video on how to make it stiff! We didn't show how to make everything because most people don't want to sew.

@ksunga86 You can use any short black spandex running shorts. Or they even have boyshort underwear at places, and you can just get it in black. Hope that helps!

Though I must say that the black swan isn't a totally plain bad, ugly character. There are many levels to her and I think it does the character more justice to see white and black swan as opposite sides of the same person.

I did this last year and everyone at dance couldn't believe I made the costume and did the makeup for it!
I saw this costume with wings tied to the dancer's arms. Or at least I think I did. Never saw the movie Black Swan, but I did see the previews. Didn't want to see the movie either but loved the costume. Never seen a visual reference to that one little blip so maybe I could draw it. Your costume looks lovely by the way.

I've been looking for a tutorial of a black swan costume forever and I found this awesome video I am so doing this for halloween!! I love it
Beautiful! *Tip you can dye the pointe shoes black with clothing dye (Some use magic marker, it is AWFUL!) If the ribbons are correct, tied in the inside, it needs to be in a square knot and fold the ribbons in and tuck them behind the knot (going over to utilize gravity). This is best placed right behind the ankle bone in the squishy part of the Achilles heel.
If it is for a costume, an extra embellishment of sorts can be the ribbons. Tie them on the outside, above the ankle bone in a bow!
I actually just made this costume. It was so simple and inexpensive. It was fun too. I used a black tank top instead of a bustier and it turned out great. Thanks girls for posting this video and inspiring me to be creative. :)

guys they are in ballet and trained just look their pointe shoes have the holes at the top done so you wont slip on pointe and toes tutus you can only get from a ballet studio but i agree walking out in pointe shoes will ruin them

Kay, I know I sound like a party pooper right now, but you really shouldn't be wearing point shoes unless you're trained in ballet. I don't know if you are but seeing that made me SO nervous. You can really hurt yourself if you don't walk in them properly. Great costume by the way! Really awesome! And so pretty!

to make the tutu connect to the corset I think that you should basicly do what you did but just add to it layer by layer I think that should work
instead of doing the feather belt on the wire, could you glue the feathers and the tulle to the inside like you did with the white swan???
Cute costume. I thought it wouldn't be that good, because I actually am a dancer and thought you would just make fun of ballerinas, but looked like a real tutu, but the bodice isn't strapless and it is usually a v-neck

Tie the ribbons on the pointe shoes on the inside of your ankle, and tuck the knot under another ribbon. Other than that, nicely done. Did you do the makeup for it?

thanks for posting this, I am currently working at it for my halloween costume this year :) i am on a small island so sadly i can't find a proper tutu so i'm trying that no-sew-technique - still working at; but the corset turned out lovely and i made it as close to the tutorial as i could:)

Me and my friend made these costumes :) put so much work into our costumes, and then sandy hit and Halloween was cancelled and I didn't get to wear it :( maybe next year haha
