That line describes everything wrong with live service games as a whole. Anything that could make the game more fun or benefit the experience first has to pass through the "yeah but how can we monetize this?" greed of the company. It's why stories in live service games always feel so incomplete. They purposely cut things out that they wouldn't in a traditional game and dangle you along with promises of "trust us we will answer everything in the next expansion, just $buy$ it and you'll see."

When i first saw it i thought the story would go on. I thought we would fighr the warmind itself in some way. But nope ana bray touches a computer and one of the strongest thing in the solar system belongs to some bitch.
I feel like they missed a huge opportunity in Cayde's funeral scene. Ikora seems more focused on revenge, while Zavala is tired of war. There could have been a great storyline to branch off of this, where the factions of the tower are split, with those who are pro revenge and others that aren't. You wouldn't have them fight, this shouldn't be a rehash of Avengers Civil War, but there would be a power play, maybe a duel... there could be one side that your character picks. Both vanguard leaders are sick of the other and Ikora tries to take the mantle of Speaker in order to gain more political power, to have her say. If you pick her, then she becomes the new speaker and you go all out in revenge. The gear you would get as a reward would be attack based loot, pure damage stuff. Zavala the opposite, being 100% defensive. There's 100% a way to swap the Speaker npc in game depending on which one u chose with ur character.

How I remember Warmind: Warrior-man must travel to dark planet with black/white enemies and face off against giant worm monster. And I immediately got a Brethren Moon (dead space) type of vibe from it so I assumed the worm was just simply the bad thing that needed slain.
If Warmind actually told a different story, then it told it appalingly. (caveat: I didn't even remember what the expansion called called until this video reminded me, so I may remember very little of this part of the game from 'bacl then')
Cayde's last words become more meaningful when you realize that he literally became vanguard because of a lost bet (vanguard dare)
yeah, but the problem is that the game never tells you that outside of extensive lore tabs.
It's a problem with the Destiny way of storytelling and world building. It's akin to opening up a Lord of the Rings book in the middle of it and reading on, completely skipping over the world building part. You have no idea who these characters are unless you go out of your way to learn about them, but shoving exposition and world building down your throat is also an idiot proof way of boring people to death. Destiny is just in one end of an extreme.
And I say that as someone who has been with Destiny since the middle of The Dark Below, D1.

@@ghostly-toaster3766 it's been a while since I've played through the quest, so I can't give a clear answer apart from I think the Ace quest was just collecting a bunch of last wills Cayde had put down to his would-be killers, and I don't remember the Dare ever being a talking point.

The lack of armor customization by means of forcing me to wear whatever crap happens to be higher level or else I'm forced to consume materials and money to infuse my better looking gear (my best gear is either outdated from an old expansion or has horrible perks, or both) coupled with the constant switching to whatever weapon is my strongest is absolutely infuriating for me and what ultimately drove me to stop playing.

If Activision is the bastard, they wouldn't send 2 of their development teams to help bungie on making forsaken and leave bungie on their own

Like, I'm playing the original Borderlands for about the 7th time (been playing it since it came out 😅) and I saw that part of the video and I just though "did they seriously just fuckin put the vault in destiny?" If anyone sees this and wants to know how that trope can be done well, go play that game. Characters feel good, story makes sense, and the pc isn't totally flat
Borderlands did many things well, but the twist ending was not one of them. It was panned at released and later admitted to by Gearbox as being shit. It's done better in Forsaken because you know something bad is going to happen, and you are rewarded with loot within the Dreaming City upon completing the boss. Not saying Forsaken's ending is good, just that it's better than Borderlands' ending.

they are trying to keep it teen for a broder apeal. so they can show humanoids dying or else it would get a M rating, it all about maximising profits, cause activition. theres alot i didnt agree with ihe, like there lore in game about cyade 6's past. and you dont have to save the shaders anymore you can buy them stright up if you already unlocked it, masterwork core infustions are retarded and should just be legndary shards and maybe planet mat's as its farmable unlike master work cores. exotics dont drop in the pvp playlist, i know for a fact as i had 5 valor resets so far in forsaken, nobody on my team or the other team has gotten an exotic, leaving me to belive that exotics only rarely drop on boss like/ powerful enemy kills, the removeal of 3 of coins was dumb in my option, nobody should do 54 hours of pvp and not get any exotics.

There are a decent amount of problems in this video like him mistaking the squid monster for riven or how he said this isn't told to you in game when it literally is... a decent part of the story was intertwined with the endgame, which he didn't play. Bungie did something different and successfully pulled on an interesting story (for the most part besides caydes death) and IHE wouldn't know that because he didn't care enough to play story content past the campaign. Should've cared more

I never played Destiny 1. I just recently got Destiny 2 with a couple of friends when Blizzard started handing it out for free. We played to level 20, then bought the Forsaken+season pass bundle since it was on a 25% discount. From our point of view the game has been just great, and all these returned/returning features are completely new features to us.

It's a good game at heart. Remember that Bungie created Halo, a legendary franchise with an amazing story. It's Activision that pushes them to add in the microtransactions and half ass content they don't have the control that they used to have. I've played since Destiny 1 and what I can tell you is even tho at times it may feel like you don't know what's going on in the story, listen to some of the NPC's like Lord Saladin or the Gunsmith when walking around, read some of the sayings that come on the guns and armor you find. Bungie knows how to tell a story they just have to work with what they've got with Activision over their shoulder. Its clear that Activision sees a different vision.

The Reason Cayde was the poster child of this expansion and his death was completely and deliberately spoiled in the marketing was because D2 was in do or die. People were, shocking I know, leaving Destiny in droves, and they thought killing Cayde was the best do or die strategy for engagement. If it failed, they didn't need to worry about Cayde never showing up again but if it succeeded, they had a compelling (if only superficially) death at the hands of one of the most pretentious and hated edgelord characters in the series.
Destiny is like the Star Wars Episode 1: I've spent 1000x more time listening to the soundtrack than playing/watching it.

One reason why the raids are always the greatest part of the game (curse of Osiris raid excluded) is because no one is talking in your ear, and it’s a massive mystery to explore and kill the bosses on the ship. Everything you do makes you feel like it actually matters because there aren’t useless dull characters speaking in your ear the whole time. The raids are one of only reason I still play he franchise.

I’ve beaten Last Wish on my Hunter and Titan so far, and it is my second favorite raid, second only to Kings fall. All of the encounters are fun and engaging for every player. And the fact that the raid weapons are random rolls gives me a reason to play the raid every week. And with the raid giving humongous power drops, it should incentivize players that have never tried a raid before to give it a shot. It’s truly fantastic

But the thing is that forsaken was incredible content wise people just critique cause the narrative which isn't the point of destiny.
Well now vanilla destiny 2 is free and I haven't spent a dime on this game after 30 hours. I've got five exotics and my power level is 900+. Now that it's free they've changed the game so much that you don't have to play the campaign, it's actually pushed aside to make the game more accessible to players, if for some reason you do want to play it you can. They've also made it so that you start at power level 750 and all skills and subclasses are available from when you start the opening mission. Aside from the microtransactions, which are fairly unobtrusive, they've definitely improved the game a lot and I'd say that it's worth a revisit. It's definitely better than any of the other free to play games.
Warframe is a thing you know and it didn't charge ppl $160-ish for the first game for the loyal fans who stayed with it and for the second game $180 just to keep up to date before it went free. Which is ridiculous because that's a total of 340 dollars minimum. And half of that is in destiny 1 has no bearing on destiny 2 really. That's one of the main reasons why I stop playing. Mostly because it left all that time grinding and doing all that stuff in D1 left in that game. And then you gotta get that shit again in destiny 2 just using the same assets again to drag the length of the game out and it was really disrespectful in that way. Maybe on a bored day I'll come back to Forsaken and Shadowkeep but as it is now I don't see no reason to come back even if its free it doesn't seem worth it

I never played the first destiny since I waited for the reviews and didn't blindly buy into the hype so as a new destiny player I find it a pretty good deal to get a $150 AUD game for nothing. I find Warframe to be much more grindy than Destiny 2 personally so that's why I never got into it and didn't mention it. I agree though, it's always annoying when a game you brought becomes free. I'm sure you'd get reimbursed though.
@@oronk60 I'm not angry bout it I'm more angry bout the fact that everything u work for in destiny 1 didn't matter and then they came out with a second one with all the same stuff. It's like if you have all ur Warframe stuff and then they came out with Warframe 2 and none of your stuff carries over to the next one but they slowly just re-add the same stuff for the first one so it's basically double dipping. And then the first two "expansions" are straight bad and useless. About Warframe I understand the too Grundy argument but if you have a build with Warframes you can make the chances of date items double and you can make picking up certain items double or triple depending on you. It just matters on build but nothing is locked behind a pay wall and the currency is tradeable in game. Which is another problem of destiny 2, if you didn't buy the expansions your game becomes obsolete where strikes you could play let's say 4 before Osiris drops when that dlc dropped you could only play 2. which is messed up to do something like that.
Fantastic for new players, a semi truck to the teeth for older ones. I was at max light level but got put to 750 just like everyone else. Bad thing is I can only get purples while all the new players get greens and whites. This wouldn't be an issue, if that didn't mean that I was locked out of raids and etc etc until I did 7 billion strikes. During strikes Common items are, well common while the stuff I needed is rarer than a diabetic chugging 80 kilos of skittles and living. I only got maybe 1 item per strike that was better and even then the power level between the new items and old ones was 1-2 power levels.

I am so hooked on borderlands 2 again and going through it's dlc really makes me appreciate what you get for your money. Completely new areas, new enemies, new npcs, unique mechanic, new story, new weapons, new bosses, cutscenes. And each of them feel rather different.

The problem with this franchise is that the developer truly does not care AT ALL about casual fans or potential new fans. All of this is specifically tailored to the die-hard super nerds who spend hours combing through the lore (which 98% of which is not shown through gameplay) and folks who are hopelessly addicted to the slot machine-esque loot mechanics.
I was in a fireteam with a couple of guys from a previous clan and I said, "I often wonder why the Awoken built all of this? Like, what is the need for all of this elaborate architecture?"
One of the guys blurts out, "Irrelevant!" in response.
I said, "well, the story can be intriguing at times."
He replied, "Yeah, I just play for that loot, man."
That's the problem with this game. People say Bungie isn't listening? They are, it's just that they're listening almost exclusively to THESE types.
It's like being a Star Wars fan and not understanding what's going on in the new movies and then someone's like, "well, you see, in the COMICS.........."
That's the problem with most things these days in regards to entertainment. Why do I have do dig and dig and dig just to find the fun part of something that's already supposed to be fun? Why do I have to do my own research and find all the little details myself just to make the story work? Why do I have to grind and grind just to get a taste of what's supposed to be "the good part?"
It's like that episode of South Park where all the kids work together to defeat that OP player in Warcraft, and then they're like, "now we can actually play the game."

-when eververse was added in the taken king, you said you had no problem with micro transactions if the stuff they gave could be earned in game. now, it has never been easier to earn it in game. I've never had a problem getting every cosmetic I want without spending a dime.
-You've been begging for bungie to add a lore codex to the game for years. they finally add it and you brush over it.
-You admit that you enjoy story driven single player games, which is objectively not what the destiny experience is intended to be. It's fine to not enjoy something, but it's not okay to belittle the people who do. in the first five minutes you say we all like destiny because "shoot feel good, me like loot etc etc etc". your 'holier than thou' attitude when it comes to opinions on this game just really rubs me the wrong way.
Also, here are some smaller things I thought of while watching this video:
1. you don't need to do spider's wanted bounties to unlock the next mission. you can do his tangled shore bounties. yeah it's still a filler but it's closer to 10 minutes that the gigantic hassle you made it out to be.
2. I agree with you that the space meatball was a much less satisfying boss that uldren would be. However, I disagree that it's a bad thing you don't know what the space meatball was. you're meant to be confused and intrigued because it sets up riven (a badass space dragon (bitch)) who is explained to you in detail when you unlock the dreaming city. you don't need to use the wiki to find that out.
3. shaders are still one time use but you can get more in the collections tab for glimmer which is the easiest resource in the world to get.
4. you failed to mention that the strikes "warden of nothing" and "Corrupted" are being revered as some of the most intelligent design in any shooter.
5. you say we need more exciting and varied weapons, but I would argue we've seen quite a few: -cerberus+1 is an auto rifle with four barrels that all shoot at once -twin tailed fox, or as I like to call in, the kawaii cannon is a launcher that shoots two rockets that each have different effects on their target -lord of wolves is a returning exotic that is literally a shrapnel launcher that can shoot more and more as time goes on. -trace rifles are pretty damn cool. - one thousand voices is an exploding flamethrower. need I say more?
6. you should do the raid. it's really good. it's really really good.
7. no mention of moth people? where's your passion?!
I've been watching your channel for many years and I respect you as a creator and as a person, but I feel like you are intentionally hating aspects of this game for the sake of hating them. this'll probably end up in spam but if not, I hope you address at least some of these points in your inevitable comment comeback rather than just highlighting the extremely inarticulate people who barely know how to use the internet.
