@@JFRides I'll take you up on that offer, I'm looking at doing the CT next August and I love to do it with an experienced CT rider. We could do a 2-3 day ride earlier in the summer, them plan a CT ride ?
great filming and storytelling. This is totally my type of trip! I'm tired of bikepacking vids where a camera crew follows a few guys with hardly any bags on their bikes. Thanks for showing it how it is. Filming an adventure like this is a huge pain.
hardtail party The good, the bad and the ugly of bikepacking. Honestly this video didn’t even cover the saddle sores, blisters etc lol. I try to keep it real in my videos but this was totally one of the best biking trips I have ever taken.
@7:21 - you couldn't ask for a better timed "ding" :-) ' glad you included the rock section in the vid bc it illustrates so well how your riding changes with the extra weight from your camping gear. Excellent edit, too, btw!
My hats off to anyone who does this trail. In all the videos of the trail that I’ve seen no one ever speaks of bears. Do they not exist in these mountain ranges
When I was in Durango last summer I was told about a "hut" bikepacking tour that goes from Purgatory bike park to Moab. I think it's 3 days. Pedal all day and stay in a hut each night. They also move your vehicle from start to end so you can just jump in your ride and head home. Might check that out next summer :)
What a phenomenal experience. Really dig the adventure aspect of it. Great riding, views, and video and kudos on pushing through unsupported with all that gear for that many days. Riding the final sections of the CT from Molas Pass to Durango are some of my favorite memories ever, I really hope to ride the whole thing someday!
What LifeStraw model is that? I’ve seen that they sell their own water bottles, but that looks like a camelbak podium bottle…wondering how the LifeStraw fits.
Cue the novice question...Do you encounter dangerous wildlife? Is it common or expected to see riders carrying some type of protection? I don’t live in the area but parts of this trail are on my bucket list.
@@TheAyotteMan I am doing all of it in 10 days. I have the Leadville100 race middle of August then hitting the CT trail end of August to finish by September 10th for my 50th Birthday present to myself 😎
Were you able to input the trail into that Garmin inReach? I know how to create track and stuff like that just wasn't sure if there was a download for the Colorado trail
I dig the video. I have always wanted to do a bike packing ride like this. Very cool!
MTBing Adventures Aaron I’m your guy for the Colorado Trail if you want to
Come out. Some of the best riding I have done.

Shannon Howard I agree!
I wanna do that someday!
I am going to try and finish the last half next season start in Buena Vista and Finish in Durango. I had a blast.
Fall trip after you finish NM.
Awesome vid
great trip, like the video, just could not unnoticed at #5:11 how badly your helmet straps are adjusted. Safe miles!
Super awesome. Bike packing is on the bucket list next year.
AA MTB Pull that trip out of the bucket because it is worth it.
Whoa! How have I not discovered this channel yet! I'm looking to plan a bike packing trip myself soon so now it's time to study up!

BlindstuffMTB there is just nothing like the Colorado Trail. I can’t wait to get back out there next season.
Tent!!!! Or a hammock for sure. That was a lot of miles with that much gear. I need to try this! Great video.
DadMTB lol I am with you! Tent or a hammock next go round. Secretly I loved every minute.
Crazy Trail
Great video buddy!
Ken Eppink thanks man!
I really want to do a bikepacking trip!! I want like a 140 travel 29er though, maybe 150/140 or something. I'm itching for a 29er lol
Treat yo self to a new 29er Kyle!
@@JFRides I would if I could lol gotta focus on getting my current debts down before I can stack more on top 😅
This was rad!
I definitely need space to spread my legs 😂 I sleep limbs out!
Spread eagle eh? Lol
@@kiznile123 I guess there isn't a fancy Shimano name for it..so yeah... Eagle 🦅 😂🤘🏼
I hear ya there. The Bivy was a bad idea.
Bike packing on the Colorado Trail was awesome. I am planning on trying a few different segments next season.
Good stuff! Looking forward to more of your bikepacking adventures! 👍
Thanks man. I a ready to do a couple more trips.
Just found your channel, awesome video of my back yard! Cheers from a new sub!
Phil Snider hey thanks man
Cool video👍
Love it man!
Thanks 😊
Nice video man!
How did you feel doing a hard-tail? It looks like your buddy has a smuggler, which is very different looking from your bike.
Aren't the wilderness areas considered to be the best and most beautiful parts? Do you feel like you missed out by not getting to see those?
Ballwiz 23 unfortunately bikes are not allowed in wilderness areas so yes I feel we are missing out.
@@JFRides That's too bad. I'd prefer to bike this and other trails for the speed. But I don't want to miss out on the views that the hike gives you.

Was your buddy shockless?
Full rigid frame no shock on his bike.

The wild life is less than interested in running in to you but a good can of bear spray is comforting to have on hand.
@@JFRides ok great. Thanks for the tip. Wasn’t sure if I needed to pack some heat for a hungry bear!

@@JFRides awesome thanks. also what mount did you use to hold that on there?
Hi, I’m fairly new at biking. I’m seriously thinking abut biking Denver to Durango. Do you think a novice rider can accomplish this trail?
how many miles per day?
How do you even get 75 lbs on gear on a duel suspension mountain bike?
75lbs was just an estimate but that was including the weight of the bike. It was more like 20ish pounds of gear.
@@JFRides That makes more sense :) By the way, really nice video!
Why did you guys end up off the trail?
certain segments of the trail go through wilderness areas that are off limits to bikes.
@@JFRides Makes sense, thanks for the great video!
You had 75 lbs of gear?!
Maybe an overestimation but I was included the weight of the bike as well.
Whats the bike ? o.O
