Fantastic man in the industry. Thank you!
Andrew has a very interesting way of taking us through the key engineering decisions he made.
I'm still rocking Jones' Elac Debut B6’s. Looking forward to moving to his SourcePoints some day. He always delivers such great value.
I've got the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR Wonder Puppies designed and tuned by Andrew Jones. Are they great speakers? No, but within their limitations they are very good and bring me much audio enjoyment. Sometimes good enough really is good enough. And when something better/more detailed is desired, there are the Sennheiser and electret Stax headphones.
Nice description of speakers that Andrew designed. Look forward to hearing them. They are the same price as the new SVS Ultra Evolution Pinnacle speakers, would definitely like to hear both of them in an A/B listening test.
Heard these at Axpona. They sounded fantastic.
I think this might be the first coverage of 888 pushed to you tube. Thanks for coverage. Noticed your metal shirts on your videos. Would be cool to see coverage of your favorite speakers for metal genre.
Most of my reviews are from the prespective of listening to metal!
I wish Andrew & MoFi would at least Assemble these speakers here in the USA like they do with the Electronics. That would be really Cool! I’m sure MISCO could make the Drivers for them here in the States, and these cabinets could be made here as well. At the prices they are charging it would be close.
US has move away from manufacturing into service industries. They wanted to diversify in the late 70s and move away from manufacturing. If you want to manufacture a product, like phones, computers, chips, speakers, etc. US is not the best choice.
From $4,200 to $3,200. SourcePoint 10's have dropped $1,000 in price so far. Be patient, these chinese emotiva clones will go on discount too.
No one cares except Americans. China is more than capable of producing high quality speakers. If it allows Mo Fi to thrive I am all for it.
Assembled and / or manufactured in the US doesn’t guarantee quality etc etc. There are lots of crappy stuff that are made in the US. Look at the people around you. Why wouldn’t it be possible that manufacturing in the US be subpar, slipshod or of poor quality?
Heard them at axpona, very impressive!
glad to have the product explained. I was struck by his careful choice of words, like saying floor standers instead if tower speakers , and the way he emphasized various key points as he told his story. I was very interested in his design choices with the eight inch drivers in the towers , because I also have dual eight inch drivers in the floor standers I own. I hope his work as well,or better than , mine, because mine are just so nice.
I heard theses at Axpona and they were among the best sounding speakers I heard. I do wonder how much the 400 watts he was running through them shaped the sound. My fear is that if I purchase them, will my amp be able to replicate how great they sounded?
On my list to purchase!
Even today i did a demo with the 10's,Luxman 509z with is built in phono and the turntable Mofi Fender, amazing soundstage, definition and punch, great sound indeed.
Well done. These were pretty good when I heard them. ( for about 10 seconds.. lol )
See ya at the next show! =)
These look fantastic! The only thing I wish they had driver trim rings to cover the screws. I would love to see a 12” woofer 3 way version next! Old school
Love this guys passion! 👍
Man, love these speakers. Admire Mr. Jones. Now a Mofi 101010 in the works maybe?
For the USA market possibly…
@@1moderntalking1 Exciting, could be very nice indeed
That's what i'm praying for too. If he's hitting 32Hz with 8s, he should be able to get to 25Hz with 10s. Fingers crossed.
I was wondering what was driving the "small driver" trend, and it's mainly European and Asian consumers (where space is a premium). I will still audition these speakers, but I would like other manufacturers to catch up with how Legacy does things.
I like Andrew.A decent speaker engineer and comes across as a really nice guy too.
Andrew is the best!
Open Baffle must be the next thing for Andrew. Clayton Shaw's CALADAN is wonderful.
Great job Andrew. Just what the market needs at the $5k price point.
I want this speaker! This is perfect... get the best of the mofi coax, but with real bass!
Andrew is a very convincing speaker😊, and he has me hooked.
5 grand a pair is much lower than expected when compared to the competition, and they will be worried.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating, so the listening test will be interesting.
Hi Andrew, based on all the reviews so far, I have a pair of 888's on order. They are due to arrive at my local U.S. dealer first week of October.
I have two questions please.
1) The speakers will be in my basement sitting on a carpet and pad concrete floor. Do you suggest/advise to use the Spikes?
2} What do you recommend for best Banana Plug? I've been using the Locking type, insert the wire, secure with two set screws, insert the plug, then turn a knob to expand and lock in place. If you recommend something better please let me know?
Thanks,
Tom
OOHH !! love the look of these
Would love to hear them.
That's a speaker you could buy without listening to it IMO .A couple of good amps and l bet it kicks but....that source point technology really works...Nice job
Remember to always have the feet installed or else it will resonate and sound radically different
Especially if your driver arrangement likes to make use of many tweeter drivers. ;)
Don't get threatened with litigation by a crybaby..
Especially if you put the speakers on stands.
Nothing looks better and sounds better than feet dangling off the bottom of speakers on stands 🦶🏻🦶🏻🦶🏻🦶🏻
@@trevorsabatine17 What would you do if someone was dissin' you? Punch 'em in the face?
😂😂😂😂 I will report this post to Tekton . Lol.
if we buy Mofi sourcepoint 8 with 2 rel T7x will they be same?
Nailed it
Love my SourcePoint 8s. These SP 888s should be killer.
They look like Emotiva 😊
Sadly, not much chance of hearing these in New Zealand. Almost no HiFi left here.
Hi why not try a two box solution with a SourcePoint 8 above a 12" bass box ? the bass box could have a xover with a high pass for the SourcePoint 8
I mean you feed the bass box and then a jumper can take the mids and highs to the SourcePoint 8
there can be benefits from separating the box with the forceful woofer from the delicate mids and highs
The satellite alleviated from reproducing the lower bass could sound even cleaner and trasparent i.e. lower IMD
I think the new Hsu VTF-TN1 Subwoofer is made for this. It is built higher vertically so you can even place a bookshelf speaker on top of it. It seems like a good idea
@@markkilpatrick7951 hi thank you for the very interesting info
The idea is to place in the bass box a low pass filter feeding the woofer and a high pass to send the signal to the satellite
Imho bass range should be separated from the mid and high range
The woofer is clearly the worst offender for vibration The sub cabinet is a real design challenge Only the very heavy ones work fine It depends on the ratio between the mass of the cabinet and the moving mass of the woofer cone The higher the ratio the better
If you take out the lower freqs from the satellite it could provide higher spls for the same distortion levels
. Yes Gino, it's a better way. Then to graduate to an active crossover & separate bass cabinets with a separate amp. Then 3-way active x-over with all separate cabinets and
separate amps.
The real big advantage this way is I can switch-out the paper cone midrange for a compression driver horn. It's an on-the-fly crossover adjustment with a a whole new speaker & sound. Only the pair of drivers is the cost for 2 pairs of speakers.
And when I get the Magnapan LRS+, I'll have the bass cabinets needed to fill them out for a 3rd pair of speakers for a grand. Tri-amping is for cheap & stingy audiophiles.
Acid Jazz, Funk & Brass 🔈🔉🔊
@@TriAmpHiFi thank you for the kind and very valuable advice
Personally i like coaxials a lot indeed in general The fact that a renowned designer like Dr Jones has selected this kind of driver must mean something
However i like biamping a lot
The power amp requirements for lows and midhighs are very different
@@gino3286
. Right again about the amps. I've considered Class D for the damping of woofers, Tubes for the midrange & Class A for the tweets. Lol, too much fun.
And you're welcome. Thanks for saying thank you.

Great Stuff!
Flux Capacitor?
do a 10 inch floorstanding 10 10 10 !!
I'm a happy owner of a pair of ELAC Navis ARB-51 Powered Bookshelf Speakers. I downsized and have no regrets. IMHO active/power speakers with active crossover analog or digital and separate amplification for each driver are the future. Are you planning other stand mount speakers with larger drivers, let's say 6" or even 8" designed for home audio not studio?
Very interesting he's using a high priced class D (sort of) amp.
Hi Andrew, when a visit to Ultimate audio again?
Is it better the the Adants?
"4 8-inch speakers are equivalent to a 15" sub". No... Because the sub will go to 18Hz or lower, and the 8" will still only go to 32Hz...
Where are they made?
China
Hope to hear them at the Munich hi-end.
Wish I kept my Pioneer bookshelfs
Funny how I agreed in essence with much of his approach to design, well before I understood it.
Great value if it wasn’t for the LS60
Pistonic vs magnetic line array
20.7s w 2-Rel Carbon Specials
JLA cr-1 active crossover 😊
88’s would be perfect for me.
I hope there's a big enough capacitor for all that flux, because when it gets up to 888 mph...
So he built a flux capacitor and connected it to a plutonium powdered nuclear fission reactor now he needs to get 1.21 gigawatts of power and something about dividing the length of a Delorean by 107.2? 🤔
What does this have to do with Fleetwood Mac sounding nice?
Andy..... Do the dual 10" model! Doooo it!
BTW, are we still mad @ MoFi, or have we gotten over the whole "pure analog" debacle?
I can't afford them but I want to know MORE
But they aren't bugs.
But we do have coaxials - big ones!
Wasn’t impressed at the Munich HiEnd.
Two 8-inch drivers are only about half of a 15-inch drivers surface.
He says, "FOUR [not two] 8-inch bass drivers are equivalent to a 15-inch sub."
ruclips.net/video/mmhkENkwQI0/видео.htmlsi=QzHPkJdTCtrJoLOg
Yes. But he was adding all 4 of the bass drivers from both speakers to get to the 15 inch surface area
@@markkilpatrick7951 Yup. 4x8" drivers =200sq in. vs one 15" driver at 176.
@@bearclaw5115And 8 inch drivers are more responsive/faster than huge diameter drivers.
He should move to Tekton
Old news bud, move on.
@@Harrisongrey19 you must be a fun guy to be around
@@gdwlaw5549 your comment is boring, and you’re just trying to get validation from strangers to get the “like” count up. Stop beating a dead horse, unless you into that kind of thing. I doubt you were directly affected by recent events with tekton.
@@Harrisongrey19 I most definitely follow Erin with much esteem. Now FxxK off
@@Harrisongrey19 go back to your Steely Dan albums
I would like to get a pair but they are made in china so I'll have to PASS
Would it be ok for you if they were made in the US with Chinese drivers, wire, and materials?
-3db @ 25Hz sounds a lot better to me than -6db @32Hz. Pass.
Is that all you care about in a speaker? 🙄🤦🏻♂️
@@JohnLee-db9zt Lol I play in a different league to those speakers. My next speakers will likely be Audio Solutions Figaro L2's driven by a Vitus SIA-030 integrated.
Andrew, your just reinventing the wheel, what you have done is copied not created, sorry buts it's old hat with a ridiculous price tag
Thetes nothing new in acoustic suspension speakers, it's all been done
Speakers have been made before so don't try to build one!
