He's right on with this review. These speakers are incredible for their size and the sound that comes from them. I invited some friends over to hear a pair that I have here at home, I only played two songs and she asked her husband, "what color would he like?" They perform really well about a foot away from the wall and 6 to 10 feet apart. And with that tweeter you get the whole sound of the cymbals from the drum set not just the higher frequencies because of that lower xover point. A good speaker for $750.00!

I just got mine. Now up to $148. I think well worth that. Are they great? No....are they very good for the money? Yep. They do a lot well, but there is some underlying harshness due to at resonance peak at about 1K. Gotta mod the crossover. I've already ordered pure copper binding post (yeah....stock ones are decent for the money but got have steel parts) and line cab w/ no Rez to dampen. Actually for such a cheap speaker, the cabinet is not too shabby. Worthy of the hype? I think so. You could do way worse. I'm using these on my desktop while I mod the crossover in my Merlins ($4k new when the company existed) And yes, even expensive speakers don't mean great.

what's not to like ?!. great unit to say the least. all in ONE. saves a lot of money on separate units and interconnect cables. however. since the Digital technology is fast changing . i'm wondering if it can be updated by changing the DAC and Streamer Cards ??!!!. (some of the McIntosh and Accuphase Amps have this feature) , this way you don't have to buy a New amp every year !. thank you for the great video.

You get what you pay.... For 350 Euro in Europe its more than fine... Bluetooth and a preamp... Just for Free is cheaper...

Alot of talking about drivers and engineering but how those mega ultra drivers perform? Lets see full klippel spinorama with estimated inroom responce, distortion and compression measurements ? I dont care if there are 5000€ drivers if they perform like crap on finished product.

After watching - it totally has it's place for some people .. but certainly there are lots of budget options.

In your opinion, would a cartridge upgrade be worth it, and what cartridges would you consider? (Something easily installed and has synergy.) Would a Ortofone Bronze be an upgrade? BY the way, I had same problem with the center hole. I also tried to force the album on and off. Until I destroyed a UHQR album. As I forced the album off, I had to bend the album, and after that the album had a serious distortion/noise issue. I had to replace the album and buy the boring tool, which works perfectly. I had a custom acrylic cover made.

Great speakers, of all the focal speakers. I like the Kanta no. 3 the best. In my opinion they sound better than even the grand utopias.

I have the DVP-S7000 (Sonys first dvd player) and it’s a nice cd player

Hi Andrew, based on all the reviews so far, I have a pair of 888's on order. They are due to arrive at my local U.S. dealer first week of October. I have two questions please. 1) The speakers will be in my basement sitting on a carpet and pad concrete floor. Do you suggest/advise to use the Spikes? 2} What do you recommend for best Banana Plug? I've been using the Locking type, insert the wire, secure with two set screws, insert the plug, then turn a knob to expand and lock in place. If you recommend something better please let me know? The one good thing about remasters is improving data layer protection (scratch resistance). I think older CDs scratch more

no sadly they are not, as much as I love them, we have to admit that the current and future King of entertainment is streaming. If there's ever a resurgence like vinyl has enjoyed, it will be minimal at best. That being said for years I wished that something like DVD Audio or BD Audio (aka High Fidelty Pure Audio) would have replaced the ancient format (and caught on mainstream) - the possibilities there would have been truly incredible for music fans!

I remember when CDs were first coming out. I started listening to them as soon as I could afford them. I never knew about the letter code for the recording, mastering, and production codes. It's really interesting.

Certainly some marketing fluff going on there, but great looking speakers!

Be wary of this company and either the return or price guarantee. They start counting days the minute your order and not when you actually receive the product. So if it takes 7, 8, 9 or more days you only have the days of the 30 from the moment you order and not a full 30 days in your possession, sadly I like the subs I received but I will not do business with them again for not honoring a price guarantee using the above example. Good product, but terrible policy/customer service.

Most "common/regular" speakers are 8 Ohms, but these one are 6 Ohms. I wonder if that also helps.
