@@user-gs9iu8mm7f I would read the comments if there's a RUclips video about me
Original cost was $30k per year. That should have been a red flag. That's 3-4x less than the cost a standard cruise. After the delay the cost was increased to $38k per year. Still way too cheap.
Then the cruise changed departure from a US port to a foreign port so so it wouldn't be required to buy a US performance bond to guarantee a refund if the line failed.
The bond probably wouldn't have been approved anyways.
I went on a week long cruise a few years ago and it worked out to about a hundred bucks a day. 38k/yr doesn’t seem too crazy in the grand scheme of things.
I hope she’ll just adjust course, still traveling the world, living the life she dreamed of. She can still take some cruises too! She’s a good person. She’ll be happy in life. 👍
I think we are going to cancel the cruise, because only one person signed up for it.

Did you watch the video? She owns a business and has income.
Did she get a refund? I didn’t even know a three year cruise is a thing 😮.
No its a scam. Several people were scammed.
Everybody lost everything
But did she died?
She was already in the process go on the trip! Book with another cruise line like Royal and go on an extended vacation. Royal is doing a year long cruise and have super long trips and legs. Might as well
The issue is that she sold everything and planned to work on the cruise because she wouldve kept building her wealth over those 3 years with hardly any expenses during the trip. So when she got back, she wouldve had a large amount of funds accrued. If she goes to a different cruise and buys multiple tickets for a long trip, she loses that due to new costs with different cruises.
She lost all the money she spent for the cruise, though. She's not getting any of the money back.
Well, there’s always van life!

I've heard of promises of cruises like this, mostly for retirees, and honestly for folks that like cruises it sounds wonderful. A studio apartment on the sea basically. Glad her story is out so we can warn my in-laws. They are definitely the type of cruise lovers that might have considered something like this. Sucks for this lady, I hope she's able to find a new adventure to make the best out of this situation.
I remember hearing about this happening to other people earlier this year 😢
My first red flag would be when they said it’s at three-year cruise…. Never heard of such a thing…. not to mention if a cruise company was offering a three-year cruise. The prices would have to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars per person if you actually think about it for a weeks cruise per person is anywhere from $1500 up to $5000 so can you imagine what the price would have to be at three years, do you have any idea how many times ship would have to refuel and resupply. There’s no way this even makes sense realistically not to mention all the crew on a board that ship would have to sign on for three year workday. Yes, something definitely doesn’t add up.
If ya financial advisor tells ya ass that’s okay to sell everything for a 3 year cruise… well then fuck it 💁🏻♂️
Well, if she down sized drastically, doesn’t own a home anymore (and has the cash from selling it) and can work remotely, she has a hell of a lot of freedom to still do whatever she wants to! And if she got the surgery she needed, she’s already having the mentality of not putting crap off until tmrw to do what you want! Most people don’t even have a “financial advisor” to consult so she’s already on top of her game even if she got screwed here! It still prepared her to be ready to go out and have new experiences so it wasn’t a total loss unless she’s not going to still do anything from here.
However, as a side note: these vaccines are only highly recommended, not required to travel to these countries…incase anyone else was wondering.
Yep it's a new start for her. She just has to figure out what to do with it now.
Clever Lucy , huh? 😂
Thank you. Really great reporting
I love what she was trying to do even though it didn't work out as planned. She definitely has the right idea! YOLO

I guess common sense is only in a chosen few. What happens when the cruise ends?
It’s a 2 min video, she has “financial people” I’m sure she doesn’t need advice from randoms online.
“What a fool” is all I thought lol
Ok smart man, like flights have never been cancelled
@@J4k7193R That was no flight though.. I mean… she didn’t think that after 3 years she would need something to come back to ?

thank you i needed a good laugh right now
So what was her plan after the 3 years was up for a home? 😮
You must not have watched it…..she was planning to work remotely (she owns a business), probably saving her earnings since she had paid for the 3 yr cruise/living expenses, and then rent/buy a new home with those earnings.
People act like she made the worst decision. What she did was just like moving to another state or country for a few years and come back to find an apartment. The only thing is her plan to move didn't work. Now she just has to find a place to live sooner than after the 3yrs on the ship. Hope she got her refund. She will be fine.
Well what was she gonna do once the 3 years was up?
Sit on her lawn chairs.

Guess hoping to kick the bucket. But ur right! And a 3 year cruise seems to be impossible to me. I mean that's a lot of stuff. Ships need cleaning, maintenance, employees, 3 years they would need their own police.
International moving and shipping company is the same scam, and they escaped from consumer rights law or even contract law. They offered me to ship for a fare price and I already paid the full amount, but then when my baggage arrived on the other continent they would hold your baggage as hostages and demand you to pay much more.
People are getting dumber by the minute.
“It just made sense” yeah ok DA
I vacation often but I've only been on a cruise vacation once. It last 3 or 4 days (it's been 15 years. Can't remember exactly ) but that was ENOUGH for me. Found out quickly that though I love water and sunshine, I also prefer to be bc able to see and reach land at all times. I cannot imagine years. That's nuts. To each their own.

Well… One form of idiocy Equates to:
Thinking That You Can and have Calculated alll The risks to live 3 years on a non-existent ship.
This is surprisingly common for cruises, but a lot of people never hear about it until stories like this make the rounds
In this case the cruise line had its investors pull out and then they hadn't even purchased a cruise ship for the cruise to happen
You have such a positive outlook.
Your adventures await you.
Maybe it’s better they cancel now rather than in the midst of your global travels.
Does she know that they are selling tiny homes on the Golden Gate Bridge with an ocean view? Someone should let her know.
This is how i would expect someone that sold all her belongings to go on a three year cruise to look like.
did not have audio till the end had to use closed captioning
What was she going to do when the three years were up?
She has escro coming in. She was gonna stack up.
Awww I feel sad for her... I wouldn't want to go on a 3-year cruise personally, but that does sound like an amazing adventure to travel the entire world for a few years! I hope she is still able to travel and live the dream, even if it won't be on the cruise. Shame on those scammers though!
I love how we are left hanging if she got her money back, if she's homeless now, like nothing. What happened? lol
How can they act like they just canceled a 1 week cruise when it was 3 years.
She seems resourceful enough to rebound. She probably had to get an apartment short-term. May have to take a series of smaller cruises.
She has “financial people” ? Wow she got robbed like a true sucker.
I met a woman near where I live that signed up for this. She was very very disappointed it was cancelled.
Did the poor passengers at least get refunds? Can they sue for fraud or non-fulfillment of contract? Would trip insurance cover a disaster like this one?
@kepckatherinec805 - I'm pretty sure the cruise line had a clause about cancellation by the cruise line. Cruise companies have good law teams.
Did you calculate the risk of the cruise cancelling?
Yeah. So many questions....
Why did the segment show a Aida cruise ship in between, a company which had nothing to do with the scam cruise? Is Local 12 looking to get sued?
Why was her research into something where she will put her life savings and three years of her time and includes selling her house only four days?
Why did she - after those four days deliberation - book a cruise with a scam company, when there are literally dozens of reputable firms out there?
Why did she immediately give up her dream, when the first try did not work out?
Did she get her money back? What happened? Is that company really a scam or did something else happen?
She takes calculated risks 😂 must be one of those 2+2 = 5 calculations
It take a special person to want to be on a boat, eat the same food(all cheap govt food) stuff they send to university buffets for people in dorms. Can’t leave when u want. Pretty much a prisoner. Sounds like a bunch of losers go to cruises
living out loud…
I’ve had two friends do similar & they were back & starting all over again w/ their day to day situations. She had a lovely home, I hope she is made whole. She should $ue out loud, really loud.
These cruises need to be sued for leaving customers stranded. When is too good to be true; is fraud.
If you sell your entire life based on vague promises of a future cruise from a company who doesn't even own the ship yet.... I don't know what to tell you.
Major cruise companies, the higher end ones, are beginning to offer cruise ship residences for year round cruises. I have considered it because shes right- it is more cost effective and you get to see the world. Too bad it didn't work out for her.
Why is this video’s audio only mixed on the right channel
I cant ish on anyones dreams. She definitely got balls i give her that.
I couldnt imagine being on a boat w the same people for 3 years
*The red glasses, lipstick, and fact she is from Ohio explains everything*
3 year cruise seems like it was too good to be true. Gilligan went on a 3 hour tour and look how messed up that was.
Now she’s got nothing to lose 🤷♀️ she should go for it
Dang! This sucks so bad. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise.
Why would anyone have paid up front for this when the company didn’t even have a ship? They were waiting to bid on one, which they lost, so they didn’t get a ship.
Plus they would’ve needed to renovate the ship, and that would’ve taken a long time to do. Then after that it would’ve needed to pass inspection before it could sail. Not to mention if the ship ever needed maintenance or had an emergency, it has to dock wherever it’s sailing.
Figures. I'd have the same luck. I'd be so pissed. Beyond. Poor lady.
Talk about change of plans.
NEVER depend on an event such as cruises, concerts, shows, etc. to be on time or guaranteed to happen.
I would have loved that cruise too!!
Wow, she got the infamous yellow fever shot! That shot is only beaten by the anthrax shot. IMHO
It is the classic case of putting all your eggs in one basket. How unfortunate.
What always shocks me about these kinds of stories is how the people always have pictures of everything for years and years. People are obsessed with picture taking.
Why the audio only on the right side??
Well that ship has sailed!
That’s messed up!😩
I'm glad my friend didn't sell anything and waited.
Putting faith in WORLDLY WAYS, how did that work out for you???
Hope she had a good travel insurance policy. It sounded like it would have been an awesome adventure.
Boxes?!! You can’t take that much stuff on any cruise!
my right ear enjoyed this story
Not so cleaver their, Lucy... Didn't you ever hear the saying "don't put all your eggs in one basket"
Now why yall do that man like that at the end😂😂😂😂 please cut that down 😂😂😂😂.
Make no mistake, she’s not very clever if she thought that there would be a *~MULTI-YEAR~* cruise and that it would somehow not be a absolute disaster after a month tops
However, I won’t deny that she has made the most out of it… reflecting on one’s attachments to excess belongings (which I’m still in need of doing) and using the would-be experience as the final push to tend to a needed procedure… things that likely wouldn’t have happened anytime soon otherwise…
But yeah, even if she gets a full refund, which is highly unlikely… she’ll be lucky to get ANY refund, at least in a timely manner anyway (I do hope I’m wrong and that she’s already gotten a refund)… hopefully she only paid for a deposit and not the full amount of the cruise
There likely aren’t even 140 countries that I know the names of, let alone that I’d want to visit…
She was saved from a nightmare
Don't put all your eggs in one basket, she's old enough to know better.
Even if it had worked , what plan did she have after the 3 years ? If you still have other money then you won't be homeless ( do a quick search on RUclips for homeless in your state to see what it's like )
If I am taking a once-in-a-lifetime cruise, I am definitely buying travel insurance!
