love these tips. although in practice for me this looks more like chasing my puppy around with my camera on burst mode furiously filling memory cards to get two decent shots by accident!
I did a shoot for the brother inlaw a few year ago with his hunting dog ! I wish I had seen this video first ! I got a couple of nice shots but it was more spray and pray ! cheers folks
Thank you so much! We would love to see if you do ever take some - tag us in on insta @triostoriesphotography We would love to see your photos ❤️ Stay healthy and safe!
This is brilliant. Alice's work is incredible and I love your humorous coverage of her workshop! You guys are not far from where I grew up (Crewe & Nantwich area) although I've now skipped up another county to Lancashire. I'm really inspired by your videos. Have you guys ever filmed on a Canon on a 5D mkiii? I have been dabbling recently but because there is no live tracking in the 5D mkiii its impossible to pull focus while recording without a ton of jittering. The camera shake is pretty shocking when it's being handheld, I've been learning Premiere (thanks lockdown!) and managed to fix a lot of it in post but it would be so nice to be able to lock focus on a moving subject and have my camera smoothly follow that target. Do you have any advice? (I realise it may be that I just need a different camera for video!) Keep up the good work guys.
Hey! It's great to hear from a fellow photographer from our neck of the woods. I am so sorry for only just getting back to you now - we literally wrote out not one but TWO essay comments and somehow lost them both! We thought one of them posted and we only just realised it didn't! Anyway - finally to get to your question :D (although we're fully aware you might have a full cinema rig by now XD) We used the Canon 6D for a year or so shooting video and we know your pain with the manual focussing. What we found to be the best way to do it, is once you've set your focus - to just try and keep the same distance from your subject if possible and do minimal work during motion on the actual focussing ring. This allowed us for the smoothest handheld footage. Hope this helps! Hope you're staying healthy and well!
I am laughing so hard, this was a LOT of fun to watch and super helpful! I really love your humour :D Thanks so much, i'll stick around for sure! ♥ Stay healthy!
Hahha, that is amazing thank you so much. We are so glad you enjoyed it. Humour is our favourite way to make videos. 😛 You are so welcome, we are happy to have you! You too friend 💕
Hi Eduardo! This is a really good question and there is no simple answer. We personally use an online service called Eazyflicks to deliver our client work - whether it be a wedding or a pet shoot. Online delivery is very popular nowadays and you need a nice and aesthetic way to do this. There is a number of services (Free and paid) that will allow you to do this. But we must say - there is nothing that beats the good, traditional print way. If you deliver a pack of even 10 prints of your best shots - your client will be over the moon and it will definitely make an impression. Hope this helps!
Hey there! So glad you enjoyed our video 🙈 So what Alice means is to look for circles in the environment to help composition. For example bushes or foliage which create a gentle, circle outline. This helps to lead the eye straight to the dog (your subject) giving you a pleasing composition. I’m sure that Alice could have explained it a million times better - but I hope this helps! ☺️
Thanks for your comment! This is just a really quick, short video. We haven’t currently planned a longer version, however thanks to the positive feedback we will try and create a follow-up in the future! 😊
depends on the dog, but never keep it lower then 1/200 and the other settings is just how u prefer them, if u like soft blurry backgrounds use a low aperature
Hey! It's really difficult to say, as there is definitely not one set answer for all circumstances. If you want to be sure to freeze the dog and get a sharp image, you probably want to keep it above 1/320s if it is in motion. However for example if you are after some motion blur or a more dynamic look, you can get down to as low as 1/50th for example with some panning to get different effects. There's definitely no single right answer when it comes to settings like that - it all depends on the specific circumstances and the desired look :) Hope that helps!
Yes, sunday I have a photoshoot of an English Bullterrier :-). I shoot nearly everything, from macro, landscapes, urbex, dogshows, weddings to concerts. Just not sports

Thanks so much - glad you liked it! Hahah this is the same for us too, Alice is definitely the dog whisperer! But 2 shots are better than none 🙈 Xx

So cute!! Does anyone know what Alice meant by 'looking for circles'?

@@TRIOStories Awesome, thanks guys! It's something I've never come across before. Definitely want to try it out when shooting with my dog 😂
That’s brilliant, absolutely let us know how you get on! 😍

your facebook doesnt work
Elliott Azis Hey there! Thanks for commenting!I’ve double checked and it seems our Facebook is working fine 🤔 do you have any specifics?
Is it a 1DX II ?
Hi Johan! Great to hear from you. We use a 1DX II and 5DIV for filming. As for Alice - she shoots on a 1DX II 😊 Hope that helps.
Cool ! I have two 5DIII's and one 1DIV but I"m not a pro.
@@wanneske1969 Amazing cameras! The 5DIII is an absolute staple workhorse for photographers, even to this day! Do you photograph dogs/pets?
