Enjoyed that! Great to see such a passionate photographer at work!
great class -just wondering how you balance flash and ambient light when shooting?
Great class, definitely going to be trying it out once the nicer weather is here and colour in the sky.
Great help, thank you!

Fantastic tutorial thanku 😊 xxxx
Hi Poppy!! (ooh and Cat and Michael too LOL)
Eeek hey Karen! Thanks for watching my love. :-)
great shots...love your pets. keep up the great work. :)
I'm new to Photography and have two Golden Retrievers, so looking for tips and composition ideas. Interesting video, and hope for more±
Awh Golden Retrievers are the most gentle souls. If you enjoyed this I think you will enjoy my weekly lives - every Tuesday usually around 5pm. If you have any questions feel free to throw them at me, I'm always happy to help. :)
Amazing video
wowza - great video and thanks for sharing what equipment you use, so informative, now a new subscriber
Thank You SO Much For All That!)))
I LOve Your Work!)))
Jacqueline
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
I find a lot of this flash pet photography a bit too artificial looking. Lighting the subject with flash and cutting down the ambient does give you some pop in color - but it looks a bit cartoony. For that reason, I have mostly shot natural light to get a more natural looking image...
What was that you where blowing into to get the dogs attention? I'm new to dog photography and that is just genius!
You can use a rocket blower even :D
Fantastic video, guys.
Thanks so much!
Hi Cat, How big can you print with the 5dmarkiii? Thank you :)
Hey, there's no definitive rule, it all depends on what you are happy with, the starting quality of the image and the distance that the print will be viewed from. There are now plenty of AI tools that allow you to scale up images without losing too much quality. another trick is to remove noise, scale the image and then add digital noise back that has not been scaled. Having said all that, we have printed many 40x30" prints from the 5d iii without using any special techniques. If you're not sure, you can do test prints of a section of the scaled images.
Very good and interesting 👍
Thank you!
Hi Cat, do you use the flash in TTL or manually balance it? Love your pictures!
I usally maually balance it, but I have used TTL on occasion. :-)
@@CatsDogPhotography Thank you, really enjoyed the video :-)
How fast is the 70 200? thanks.

The comment you made about choosing the 5DIII over the 1D-X made no sense at all. The 1D-X will give you a larger print before losing detail over the 5DIII. You could only of made that biases on the 4 more megapixels which is not the correct thinking at all. The ONLY benefit the 5DIII has over the 1D-X is weight.
I'm leaving this comment more for people who might be considering buying one of these cameras second hand since I believe they are both now very affordable and make great starter cameras. I agree that just looking at the megapixels count is wrong - just look at mobile phones - but I'd like to see some images and know the conditions where you have seen this to be the case with these two cameras? If you do a test shot with a still subject and lots of available light then scale the 1D-X image up or scaling the 5diii down so that the two images are the same, the 5diii will have more detail or appear sharper. The 1d-X is better in low light but even then, iso is simulated so 100 on both cameras are not equivalent. I've seen people claim as much as half-stop difference so if you do an even comparison and match the exposure, the difference there will be negated a bit. It would have been nice to have the better tracking, higher fps or better durability of the 1dx but we don't do a lot of action, use flash a lot and need to wait for the flash to recycle anyway and even though the 1dx is a more durable camera, they are both built like tanks compared to modern mirrorless cameras.
I fell in love with your work, absolutely inspiring, by theway I sent you a message on Instagram
