  • Join us for a mini BTS of this studio dog photography session with Frank! Frank is a rescue Labrador who had zero training, manners or self control when he was first adopted by Oli's family - he's known as Frank the Tank and he is super sweet but very boisterous. His owners have been working on his health and behaviour so currently he has a sit for snacks and can give his paw, but apart from that, this dog photography session in studio was, in theory, going to be really hard...
Never fear though, with a few simple steps even the craziest of dogs can be photographed easily, and well, in any environment - including in the studio. All of the tips in this video can and should be applied to other environments too!
MTog's: We have a full BTS on the way for you guys, and we can do an edit if you'd like!
We ended up with a full gallery of client ready shots and a couple that could, and probably will, be entered into awards with merit aims this year 🙌

This was awesome Jess! You make things looks so easy. I notice that you do things in comfort … love the slippers! Hoping for more in studio videos and how did you make your floor the same colour as the background? What is the first floor that Frank posed on? Looked like wooden flooring.

Omg ignoring the dog that sounds so hard to do, but yielding great results. Just yesterday I bumped into a cute puppy and I played with him and then tried to take pictures of him and as soon as I would go down he would wanna run to me to play some more making taking a simple snapshot so difficult. Guess next time picture first play later. Thanks for the great video

    • @ThatPhotographySpot

Yeah it can become super difficult once you have interacted with the dog so best way is to pretty much ignore until after the shoot then you can have play time 😊

I found this very helpful. I noticed you actually instructed the dog in parts. Is that typical? Usually I leave that to the owner because I figure the dog wouldn’t listen to me.

    • @-skalli-
      @-skalli- Год назад

I let the owners instruct the dog most of the time. I guess she stepped in as the Lab was very focused on the Ball in her Hand and not so much on his owner. For me its a thing of feeling. My own very reactive dog would get hyper very quickly with a foreign person and impossible to photograph. On the other hand I've had shootings with dogs who are not trained much and the owners are sometimes overwhelmed so I help as needed.
