- UB 40 and Platinum Blonde are interviewed on GOOD ROCKIN' TONITE in 1985 by host Terry David Mulligan for the CBC Vancouver TV series which ran from 1983 - 1993. From the British reggae Birmingham based octet UB40 (name taked from a British unemployment benefit form), formed in 1978, the group had #1 hits with Red Red Wine and Can't Help Falling in Love. Meet lead singer Ali Campbell along with Brian Travers and Norman Hassan. They sold 70 million LPs worldwide. In another ST40TV interview posted earlier, GRT talked with UB40's Robin Campbell & Astro. Prior to that, Mark Holmes (lead singer) and Kenny MacLean (bassist) of the hugely successful Canadian glam-rock trio Platinum Blonde, co-hosted this 1985 edition. Sergio Galli was the 3rd member. They originated in 1981 and were inducted in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2005. Their biggest hit was Crying Over You.
