    Tropes that I am extremely tired of in today's movies.
    1) Protagonists only have daughters or they'll have a son and a daughter but the daughter always overshadows the Son.
    2) Girl bosses
    3) Female characters that are there solely there to explain leftist exposition, like anything with an ism or phobia.
    4) Action movies about guys getting revenge for their mommy's death.
    5) forced diversity
    6) Female superiority masquerading as inclusion.
    7) The MCU comedy style being in almost every movie.
    Pretty much anything and everything created for left-wing weirdos...

      You know what would be a great subversive of expectations? The movie has all the same girlboss tropes you mentioned, but after like five minutes the movie focuses on her brother who is living in her shadow and always has to put up with her toxic, entitled attitude, but eventually he perseveres and succeeds at something she can't, which both humbles her and finally gets her to respect him.

      Honestly by today's standards, I thought it was mild girl boss. However, I have a bad feeling about the trilogy going forward. I have a feeling it's going to get "more woke" in the next movie and the only "strong males" going forward will be apes. The ending had a lot of "modern audience" diversity. Which seemed weird because when we saw the "echo herd" they were all white-like people.

    • @Mouse_Metal

    • @musicman9434
      @musicman9434 Месяц назад +5

      @@joshuacalkins yea, my issue was that they hijacked a toy that had absolutely nothing to do with girl boss misandry. They knew if it was just a satire and was advertised for what it is it would have flopped. So they used Barbie as the vehicle and marketed it as a girly satire movie about Barbie. Most people who went to see it only saw it was about Barbie and had no idea. So allot of people dont trust anything about movies now. No matter how much the trailers look like its woke free audiences think, and rightfully so, I know it's in there, and refuse to spend their money. Going to the movies is insanely expensive and there are tons of options with streaming, RUclips ect. for very cheap.

      Its just like in Dawn, where the humans and the Apes have similar goals and issues. Like how they both had a character that was prejudiced causing problems, but both groups just wanted to survive. In this one, both groups wanted power to ensure they stay at the top of the food chain. Just one of them was more honest about it to the others. Mae was just like Proximus, and Noah was just like Willian H Macy's character (forgot the character's name, but he was the only other human there) as a simpathizer to the other side, willing to work with them for their own sake (ok, not as clear a parallel but you get what I mean).

      Have not seen the movie, but apparently, there is a hidden conclave of humans who have "advanced" along side the apes, but in secret. She is kind of an advance scout to find out exactly what the apes are up to. Most of human kind devolved, thanks to the simian flu, but this conclave is either immune, or simply avoided getting infected. So there could be thousands of intelligent humans, or mearly a few hundred. Considering the success of this movie, I think we will find out in the sequal.

    • @GBDupree
      @GBDupree 27 дней назад

      @@johnnymedrano7081 I think they misrepresented the character a bit. She isn't really the key to everything outside of circumstances that could have made it anyone else. She was sent with a group of Immune people to the vault, but they were all killed by the villain Ape while she managed to escape (this is never shown, only explained through several moments). So everyone in that group was aware of the mission and any one of them could have been the key. So its not because she is a girlboss, at least in-universe. She is also shown to be in a bad state if it weren't for the mercy of the main character Ape helping her, which leads into her ending up back at the vault with him. the only real girlboss moment was her getting the jump on a decrepit old man, which isn't too ridiculous, so its up to you if that's too much. Also she is sort of a villain in a way, so she isn't perfect either. So I think she's a character that could be anyone and it would fit, it just so happens to be a girl.

    A tale of NG the Merciless Bond-esque adventure sneaking in a movie showing & the return of Chris Gore was the high light of this video. Once I saw the Mae character in the commercials of the Planet of the Apes movie, I knew it wasn't for me & the review kind of helped solidifying my stance. I'll stick with my movie collection to get my Ape fix.

    It immediately starts with a funeral for Ceasar (not at all looking as old as he did in "War") with flowers and a pyre, in a cultural type of style the apes never would have had yet. I said, "Ok, this movie is already off on the wrong foot."

      @@ocgiggin Not to mention the reason for her importance is clear and doesn't set her up to be a girlboss. The reason she was sent out to the vault is because she is immune to the virus (she wasn't even let into the Human settlement in the end because they were a quarantine zone), she was also sent out with many other humans, but when they got there Proximus killed them all with just her escaping. Her escaping and discovering Noah is what lead Proximus to Noah's village. This isn't directly told to the viewer but is clearly laid out, Its simply explained to you out of order. So she could have been anyone.

      Its heavily implied at the end the human settlement makes contact with the astronaut in the original (it could be just another settlement, but they show a picture of a astronaut right after with the apes using a telescope so that seems heavily implied). But its strange that the world doesn't quite feel like its at that point yet (the apes aren't wearing human like clothes yet for example, as well as there being some intellegent humans left). So maybe one more movie to set it up, OR they are going to do something slightly different for a remake?

    I prefer that to her being overly heroic. But she’s annoyingly waif-like and young. She’s not fighting grown men.
