Doctor Who Reviews are out for Ncuti Gatwa's Premiere on Disney+ and you'd think the cast would be pleased. While rotten tomatoes gave 100% score from the critics, the fans weren't happy and the cast backlash was swift. We've seen from Star Wars and many other IP's where some of the cast would make comments, but Doctor Who had a steady stream of bile, far more than normal. The question is, why? Is it because they hate the British audience and think they can replace them with an American one? Are they under the impression that their new content is exactly what Americans are into? Or are the creators in so much of a bubble that they genuinely have no idea what the normal world is like? What do you think the reason for Doctor Who's new series is? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)
Love your work. Will you ever make audio versions of your videos available on podcast ? It would be great to be able to listen to you while travelling / driving. Thanks !
It is amazing that I am Pole and I don't want to see a polish actor playing Doctor Who or polish version of Monty Python, Allo Allo, Keeping up Appearances, Mind Your Language and so on. Britains made them work. British humor made them work. That's why I love those shows. I can't wrap my head over anyone who have to destroy it and make it local to "work" for them. It won't! If you don't like it as it is it won't after it will change. Deal with it!
To be fair, with how dark Polish humor is, I would watch a Polish Monty Python-esque show. It would probably be very funny if you manage to translate it somewhat comprehensibly in the subtitles.
@@TheSuperappelflap well that could be reason British humor in Poland is so understood and loved 😅 Our nations cuts really deep and with pinpoint accuracy with our jokes 😂
No,all they care about is,as The Critical Drinker puts it, "THE MESSAGE",and if you don't walk in lockstep with their twisted ideology that makes you the enemy.
I finally understood why they take existing shows and pervert them. Because if they created original shows no one would watch them and they need people to watch to send the message.
to be fair.. dr.who has been gey AF for like 20 years.. it's amazing to me that people didn't notice. i watched 1 ep, there was a skin flap with a face lady. then some lab trying to combine diseases.. and they all got out, and the way to cure them was for the doctor to mix together all the "cures" in a bucket.. take a shower in it... then walk around transmitting the cure by touch... like.... how stupid are you people? and that's supposed to be the "good era"? err... i mean look at Russel T... i dont mean to be harsh, but the dude looks looks like he has autism or downs.. this is not a smart person with depth. i saw a film of it way back, the old series.. it was on some ruined planet with darleks and cybermen... that was decent.
Doctor who WAS for everybody. That was the point. It didn't slander anyone. It welcomed EVERYONE. Yes...even "queer" back then. It included everyone but it didn't hold a neon sign up to their differences. It stayed true to the essence of what made it special and made the doctor the doctor for everyone.
Captain Jack Harkness is one of the most beloved companions of New Who, not *because* he's "omnisexual" (my own personal term), but because of all his other characteristics
I remember those episodes. Heck, they were weird, but the actors can easily turn them into great scenes. In one scene, you see the most ridiculous man in existence, and then the next, you see the most feared being in the universe.
Edit: RUclips doesn't update comments unless you refresh the page. There were no replies on my screen when I posted this. And I feel like I need to bring up Captain Jack Harkness, fan favourite character to the point he got his own multi-season spin-off. Everyone loved him and he was openly gay (bi, but whatever). So you're right, even the gay representation was for everyone. The activists sure don't remember him, if they even watched the show back then to know who he is. Even when they reincarnated The Master into Missy there wasn't a huge backlash, she was well cast and did the character justice (for the most part).
@@williamruiz4571 This is why Dr Who is crashing. Maestro... and honestly that character design... is a really good idea for a Who Villain. The over the top ridiculousness, yet topped with unbelievable power? It's a GREAT idea! And yet... the writing and acting are so execrable that it's unwatchable.
@@LadyDragonbane It's not meant to work. That's the point. It's not incompetence, or ignorance of what audiences want; understand that it's open contempt for you, the culture which built Doctor Who, and the values you hold and which were once represented therein.
Exactly, if they were so talented they would write something original and 'inclusive'. But nooooooo they have to take someone else''s talented work and turn it into 🐕💩.
@@chrissedaka8141 That is very true. Though I believe there is a certain amount of incompetence involved, it is mostly out of malicious contempt for those who reject these modern progressive perversions. Promiscuous and disgusting people want to flaunt their lack of morals and decorum in the faces of those who still find joy in things, and feel they must steal something popular to spread their disgusting ideas because they KNOW it would never become popular on its own with new shows, new characters, and new stories. There is a reason they are infecting all the things that normal people love and enjoy. It is an attempt to convert the masses into their perversion of reality and lack of inhibitions. We must simply stop giving it any attention. We tried to inform them we don't like it. We tried to help them fix their mistakes. Now, we should simply stop trying to help and let them do it. Like all bullies, they are looking for reactions and attention. If you don't give them any positive or negative attention, they will go somewhere else.
Yup! I was so excited my favorite show was more accessible to Americans. But seeing the quality of it? I don’t want it to be more accessible. I don’t even want it to exist because it’s just not good at all. On bright side, deciding to forget it exists by not watching it, has inspired me to write my own version of Doctor who how it should be based off the phenomenal old Doctor who. With twists and turns and the entire characters are more than just their representation.
They shot americans in the foot so many times. We’re bringing Doctor Who to Disney+, but if you wanna watch the after credits, and how the episode was made, you need to live in the UK and have Iplayer or whatever. They just wanted a reason to make the show gay
Speaking as someone born in California and happily raised in a relatively left wing family, not only did I not want it. But I think the best doctors are old and middle aged men capable of presenting themselves with dignity. Colin Baker > Whitaker.
I'm a simple girl who loves scifi but loved Doctor Who more specifically for River Song and his romance with her once that was introduced, so their story ending on Darillium, where they got to have a wholesome, *real* marriage (that you're certain not to see with this current Doctor) was the perfect close. "Doctor, I let you go," indeed.
Remember when Peter Cipaldi was revealed as the new Doctor and he came from behind the curtain, nervously fidgeting with his wedding ring and looked so relieved when the fans in the audience cheered that he might cry? That was a man at the top of his game given what had been his dream job since he was a kid and who desperately humbly wanted to be accepted by the fans. Compare and contrast.
I remember that and you’re absolutely correct. That was somebody who was humble and grateful for the dream job he had been given. I don’t get that feeling from anyone connected with Doctor Who today. Save for the production crew who are just doing their job and not making these horrible creative decisions for this now abominable show. I miss Capaldi and all of the previous Doctors so very much. Jodie and Chibnall turned it into trash and now that refuse is a blazing pyre. It’s beyond sad to see and really infuriating to witness the supreme degradation of this once, decades old, gem of British television and culture. It depresses me even more than seeing the destruction of Star Wars, Star Trek and all of the other once great IPs sacrificed on the alter of woke religion and agenda.
David was the same, once; it was his childhood dream. Now he just wants to preach at us for being on the "wrong side of history." No wonder he aged 20 years after just 10.
Lol. Doctor Who is a BBC program funded by the TV licence fee that everyone is forced to pay if they want to own a TV. Sad to say, but there are no 'customers' here.
@@jaxe8321 You don't need to pay to get access to the BBC, that's kind of my point. If you live in Britain, it's illegal to watch TV on a TV without paying the government licence fee for the right to do so. Regardless of what you want to watch, or which service provider you go with. They don't care whether you pay to watch Doctor Who, or if you get access to it for free, or if you don't watch it at all. They get paid to make it no matter what, unless everyone in Britain collectively gives up on TV wholesale altogether. Even then, they are a broadcasting group tied to the Government, so they get funding regardless.
Foreigner here. I don't live in Britain, but I love British culture. This is the reason I watched Doctor Who. I stopped watching after Capaldi. They think they make Doctor Who more international or "accessible," but they erase its uniqueness.
I also stopped after Peter, I gave Jodie a chance and she built a new sonic screw driver in a few seconds from stuff laying around an Earth auto shop in 2017ish. Like are you kidding me?
Same here. I never bothered to continue with Dr. WHO after Capaldi. Given to how things are in tv, hollywood etc., i already knew it was going to be shit. Honestly, i dont bother watching anything these days except for Korean and Japanese horror, drama depending on how its made like Vicenzo which was fkn amazing because everything else is the same.
@@evilloki85 Well thats a bit of a shame, although there are many Asian tv shows and movies that are great, there are still some projects in western countries that are pretty good. You just have to look for them. They arent promoted as much. For example The Northman is a pretty decent movie about Scandinavian mythology and history that was made a few years ago and got critical acclaim. Even the director said it was amazing he got the greenlight for it. Good Omens is also a good British tv show with David Tennant, as much hate as he gets he is really good in it and that show doesnt have much of the "western political message". Just some examples, I can recommend more if you want.
@@Lttlemoi Do you think that I enjoyed hearing about how Indiana Jones was sidelined in his own movie by a Mary Sue and made into a pathetic bitter old man? There's a reason why all of the new movies are immediately put on Disney+. Doctor Who is just being infected by something that's been infesting Hollywood for years.
Look, man… I am not white. I am not a man. As a single, female, disabled AMERICAN of color with a trans niece who I love and support-so you could say I tick all of those boxes of intersectionality that they’re aiming for, right-Well…. It sucks. And I am so incredibly sick of all the changes that they’re making to an experience that I was actually looking forward to with a character that I used to love. But that’s okay. They have made it clear that they won’t miss me when I leave-without letting the door hit me on the way out.
Hang in there, the series was a weird one but it got better for the 1st part of the season finale. It’s all linked. I think it’ll continue to get better, it’s just setting the stage for who the doctor is in his new form.
My girlfriend introduced me to Doctor Who. She loves the IP deeply and has loads of memorabilia and signed autographs from doctors she’s met on film sets. We watched the Christmas special and she was very turned off and cautious. After episode 1 of this season, she’s completely written off the series as a lifelong fan and will never watch the rest of the “new stuff”. She’s heartbroken and feels betrayed by the idiocy.
I knew a family whos son was a huge doctor who fan before he khs. The whole family became obsessed after. I saw them the other day and none of them would even watch it. Made me sad there are real life consequences to these decisions
I hate everything about it nowadays. I hate they made the doctor a woman. I hate they made the doctor a black guy. I hate they want to social engineer EVERYTHING and lower standards SO FAR that it's rotting society. We were doing JUST FINE without them. Until I see them DEMANDING white people in THEIR shows and countries, they're nothing more than hypocrites and unworthy of existing in our spaces.
"I dont understand why they dont like our stuff." Then why dont they ever make ANY attempt to understand. They merely smear, and insult, and then act shocked.
The 'victim narrative' is part and parcel of their entire life and identity. Make no mistake, there's no goal for them to understand/appeal/attract. Their entire existence is founded around pretending to be victimized and hating all the people they perceive as offending them.
They want a reason to declare martial law. Taking away entertainment of the masses is just one more step in that direction. They can't win unless they can first disarm the USA and they know it. Problem is, they do not understand the population is smarter than them. We've seen this playbook before, multiple times, throughout the centuries.
It's like they turned a popular steak house into a vegan yogurt shop, while insisting the pea based sugar sludge they placed on your table is steak, and then tell you to go away if you complain it's not steak and then stand around asking why no one likes their stuff.
Reminds me of Games Workshop as well. I just look at them and the BBC and think, "Guys, titans like Disney and Warner Bros are bleeding, you really think you can do this shit and somehow not end up worse?"

But the real fans remember all the progressive stuff that always existed in the show... To these idiots, nothing is ever enough until every scene of a series is ruined by shallow "wokeness"...
This is a bit like a woman who gets dumped for CHEATING, who then goes ballistic, blaming YOU for everything SHE did. It's sad, pathetic, and typical of the emotionally immature.

They are fighting a culture war, not a monetary war. Name a masculine franchise that they haven't shit on... It is a winning strategy, because they have left fucking nothing for young boys to look at and go "I wanna be like that when I grow up!"
No one cares about that. They just care about the bad writing and weird direction... I want an alternative world where Idris Elba is the Doctor instead, and he actually got good writers.
I remember seeing RTD in an interview on a Dr Who DVD I have (Tomb of the Cybermen) and RTD was talking about it as a retrospective's - and was very good and pleasant and sounding like a complete fan. But then he started to talk about the character and casting of Toberman and how Blacks weren’t properly represented then and neither were gays - and then his mask totally slipped and he looked suddenly nasty and very bitter and he spat something like “and I’m gonna fix that!”. And that’s why. This isn’t about equality. It’s about revenge. And spite. He would rather see Dr Who ruined for the masses and cancelled rather than let them go on enjoying it as they always had. He’s not a nice man.
His recent comments about disabled people are more recent proof. I have a lot of respect for people in wheelchairs or blind people or whatever trying to navigate the world these days. Its as cruel a place as ever. Dont think I could do it. But they soldier on and carry it with dignity. Imagine thinking that makes someone evil.
As an American fan of Doctor Who for over 40 years, I might be upset...if this was Doctor Who at all. I gave up during Capaldi and haven't watched any new Who in years.

Yeah, they scream and rant and yell and push and criticize and attack and insist until they get their way...then suddenly it's unimportant and only babies online would care when there are REAL issues out there...like the next IP that isn't sufficiently woke and not bending the knee!
We learnt our lesson. LOTR is being gatekept very efficiently. Wheel of Time show got absolutely destroyed and the few "fans" it have are being ratiod out of existence anywhere but twitter. Warhammer 40K fans are preparing their power armor and are ready to deal with any heresy. We will hold our ground, and take back what is ours. Hold.
The saddest thing about Dr Who is that he used to be above petty sexuality Dr Who was wise, a teacher, educator and guide for the silly human companions with their little lives. But now Dr Who is as silly and petty as his (their?) companions...just a hormonal teenager who cant stop acting like a horny creep, who whines about sex and their insecurities all day and judges everyone else. Dr Who is now an obnoxious jerk.
As a gay man this "inclusion" and "representation" is stupid to me. If I wanted it, I'd watch Brokeback Mountain again or other pieces of media with gay men that aren't shoved in for no reason and retcons previous ideals of the character. And btw, I have been bullied in high school for being gay down to where the principal said. "Well maybe it was your fault." so woke people don't come at me for being "fake gay", also why does media nowadays want men and women to be unattractive, it's so strange.
Re-watched Brokeback Mountain some months ago... When it was released, i remember the "controversy" that they talked a lot, now watching it and comparing to nowadays cinema, damn, that movie is a goddamn master work... Incredible story telling and great actors! RIP Heath Ledger. Miss the time when we had the reason to go to the cinemas and watch a spectacle... not dog sh*t.
At least Matt Smith isnt problematic. Ill keep watching his stuff, not because Im desperate for a celebrity to worship, but because we should support the normal ones while ostracizing the freaks.
I’m so tired of the heterophobic actors being so bigoted towards the rest of the cast and actors they should be fired immediately. The hate speech coming out of the cast and crew should be charged for it and prosecuted.
You would be shocked and disgusted by how many gay people think that you can't actually be bigoted towards heterosexuals, because of "oppression" in the past and present.
Great term! "Heterophobic" because that is absolutely spot on! We've all become accustomed to openly anti-white, anti-male racism. This is the next brick to chip away at.

Alfred Hitchcock wanted to show you a story, maybe shock you a bit, but he put effort into creating unusual cinematics and creating great atmosphere. in his movies. He would tell you that if the fans are telling you your show is crap and no one is watching it, he would say your show is shit. Hitchcock knew if you blew the minds of the audience, didn't treat them like children, and didn't preach, but most importantly, entertain them, the audience will do the rest, tell their friends your show is awesome and they should see it. peer pressure does the rest.
Growing up as a kid who wasn't English but living in the UK, I still thought I could be the Doctor because the Doctor isn't anything to do with appearance. The fact that he happened to be white was spectacularly irrelevant to who he was.
They are obsessed with "representation". It's obvious they don't watch tv shows or movies. If they did, they would know that people watch to be entertained/thrilled/excited, not to see actors preening at themselves being "representations".
As an Australian I’ve always enjoyed doctor who, but I’ve never felt the need to force the doctor to act and sound like me because I understand that he is a quintessentially British icon
I'm Australian - please don't give the Dr what Americans think is an Australian accent, lol. But seriously - as a Brit descendent - Dr Who's 'Britishness' is a big part of the appeal.
Lets be honest, its always been garbage. Not exactly the climax of storytelling. You can enjoy the content you enjoy, no on can take that away from you. I don't think it's hard to imagine something changing over the course of 60 years. Its a pale echo of what is used to be, and that's not always a bad thing.
As an American who has watched Doctor Who since 1985 (including wonderful times at conventions sitting in a viewing room, watching bootleg VHS copies), THIS IS NOT THE DOCTOR WE WANT!

I'm a far-right-wing-extremist American - I'm not here to "see myself in Doctor Who", not here for "representation" of my culture, accent, politics, or whatever. I tuned into Doctor Who for nothing more or less than simply good escapism, science fiction, dark fantasy, and horror. I don't care if it's being delivered by Americans, British, Canadians, Japanese, Africans, or anyone else, as long as it just tells a good, old-fashioned sci-fi, fantasy, horror, or other genre story. This woke crap is NOT good escapism, nor is it good sci-fi, horror, fantasy, action, adventure..... In fact, it's just not good, full-stop. It's not good for anything at all - it's a waste of time and space on the air, a waste of money and resources to make, a waste really for any purpose other than tuning in occasionally to critics to laugh at how bad it gets, and even that is starting to lose its charm. It even fails at being propaganda: even bad propaganda should be capable of persuading someone to change their mind in some way. Nobody's mind is getting changed by anything these writers and show-runners have to say, it's like whatever the exact opposite of propaganda is supposed to do: it just persuades me to NOT listen to their point of view, and to NOT take their cause seriously. It's not even inspiring hate anymore, if it ever did that -it's just some sort of weird Apathy Generator. And I'm speaking as someone who gave Jodi Whittaker's Doctor a chance to get better for two years before concluding that generating any enthusiasm for what these idiots are producing is a hopeless lost cause, and a waste of my life. Doctor Who, starting somewhere in poor Capaldi's time as Doctor, simply started failing at entertainment - not because it wasn't "representing" me or whatever, but because the writers and show-runners just didn't have their minds on telling good stories. America, Aussie and British culture are actually very, very different. British culture is very homely and traditional and staid and safe. Americans are the people who were stultified by that and got up and left and made their own future, independent of control and a natural distrust of power. Aussies were the people who were forced out to a hellscape and had to carve culture out of it just to survive with a hatred of the power that pushed them out. Yes we're all cousins, but the differences are fascinating and important.
Not surprising; he's rehashing his old material to 'start over' again. Farting aliens for Eccleston, farting ships for Gatwa. I fully expect him to deny he'll be using Daleks and have them be in the series finalé.
Reminds me. Had to explain to my last ex that the difference between men and women can be spotted quite obviously from the adams apple. She didnt even know. She was only a couple years younger than me. Gen Z and younger truly ruined by social media nonsense. How did no one ever explain adams apples to a 25 year old woman? wtf.
RTD hasn't broken any barriers. The fact is, most Brits are very tolerant people. As long as someone's private life stays private, then most people just don't give a crap. Same applies to when established franchises are used to send a message, rather than to entertain. They have more important things to worry about, like raising their families and paying their bills.
I had a Shakespearian trained uncle, born in 1932, dead now. Was a gay mwn but was utterly intolerant of people posturing over their sexuality. He had an utter conviction that theatre was an art form. He would be labelled a istaphobe by the activists who've hijacked the arts for political/embezzlement reasons.
As an American, I can say that a good chunk of us actively avoid shows and media that has alphabet propaganda/ obligatory alphabet characters, and forced diversity. It’s why old shows are doing better than billion dollar new ones on streaming.
Again let's bring up Arcane, it doesn't matter there's alphabet soup persons in the show, what matters is their identity within the alphabet soup is there entire personality. Well made characters can be as complex as a demigod from an alternate universe, thats tens of thousands of years ahead of ours where they communicate purely by thought that becomes visibly manifested near them, or as simple as a few basic shapes near eachother, as long as its well written people enjoy it.
You hit the nail on the head there Disparu. Why should people like Davis stop retconning beloved shows? There are no consequences. They know they are a protected species.
Hey man , can you please continue your velma season 2 reviews ?
Let the spice vitriol melange flow ... 🫧
Love your work. Will you ever make audio versions of your videos available on podcast ? It would be great to be able to listen to you while travelling / driving. Thanks !
I think it's because for most fans the character of The Doctor is supposed to be an alien. A madman in a box not a human pretending to be one.
The bubble.
Whoever became a „proper fan“ of Star Trek after Discovery, never enjoyed Star Trek in the first place.
Only thing Star Trek about that POS is the title.
Discovery is very preachy and the same as DW now, no wonder he likes it

Strange how his favorite Star Trek is the one most real fans hate. Sort of makes sense.
True
I was told to go and touch grass instead of watching doctor who, so I planted 5 acres of sod.
Unironically, doing that is doing more to help than any of these self-righteous narcissists virtue-signalling online will ever actually do.
Can I come touch your grass?… it sounds nice
I didn’t touch grass but I watched actual good shows

It is amazing that I am Pole and I don't want to see a polish actor playing Doctor Who or polish version of Monty Python, Allo Allo, Keeping up Appearances, Mind Your Language and so on. Britains made them work. British humor made them work. That's why I love those shows. I can't wrap my head over anyone who have to destroy it and make it local to "work" for them. It won't! If you don't like it as it is it won't after it will change. Deal with it!
Well said!

"THE MESSAGE",and if you don't walk in lockstep with their twisted ideology that makes you the enemy.
They are trying to make you feel ashamed for not liking the crap that comes out of their exhaust ports.
I finally understood why they take existing shows and pervert them. Because if they created original shows no one would watch them and they need people to watch to send the message.
Their terms are acceptable to us
Sadly not weak enough to crumble under the scolding and fall in line.
Don't you love it when someone who has no respect for a franchise is somehow the authority on what a "proper fan" is?
its all a smoke screen as its all about getting there own way, and when they dont they throw a tantrum.
to be fair.. dr.who has been gey AF for like 20 years.. it's amazing to me that people didn't notice.
i watched 1 ep, there was a skin flap with a face lady. then some lab trying to combine diseases.. and they all got out, and the way to cure them was for the doctor to mix together all the "cures" in a bucket.. take a shower in it... then walk around transmitting the cure by touch... like.... how stupid are you people?
and that's supposed to be the "good era"? err... i mean look at Russel T... i dont mean to be harsh, but the dude looks looks like he has autism or downs.. this is not a smart person with depth.
i saw a film of it way back, the old series.. it was on some ruined planet with darleks and cybermen... that was decent.
Russel T: hires gay actor to fight against prejudice. Also Russel T: Writes character to be gay stereotype
Exactly! “Doctor Who” welcomed you exactly as you are. You didn’t need to have the same background, beliefs, or experiences! 😢

Speaking as an American: we don't want Disney's Doctor Who, so it obviously wasn't made for us, either.
Based on this videos thesis only true blooded brits can enjoy the show so we are out of luck anyway
@@shannonsmith924 You see, you lost nothing. You ca now enjoy your writings.
Speaking as someone born in California and happily raised in a relatively left wing family, not only did I not want it. But I think the best doctors are old and middle aged men capable of presenting themselves with dignity.
Colin Baker > Whitaker.
Tennant was my Doctor. He's ruined his own run for me. Doctor Who ended with Capaldi.
I'm glad Eccelston never came back to ruin Nine for me.
I say we just say there was only 13 doctors and I am not counting Jodie and after
And the 13th I am counting is the War Doctor who was between the 8th and 9th doctors respectively
Dr. Who ended with McCoy.
Yes your right a good doctor under appreciated then in my mind the doctor didn't regenerate and doctor who ended
I miss Capaldi. He was done so dirty, but had some great episodes. I like the Missy episodes too. That was actual wasted potential.
David was the same, once; it was his childhood dream. Now he just wants to preach at us for being on the "wrong side of history." No wonder he aged 20 years after just 10.
Yes, i miss Mr. Capaldi too. My favorite new Doktor next to Matt Smith.

@@StormmbladeI don't have a TV license yet I can still use bbc

I wonder if Alfred Hitchcock ever criticized a fan for not being “proper.”
